You’re all forgetting that we already have an EoN driven Bond instalment coming up after NTTD which is the video game with I.O interactive, which is “the very first James Bond origin story”.

I still maintain that whoever is Bond 7 will be Bond in the game and it will directly tie into the Bond 26 and the new continuity.

I think this will actually be the fourth origin story lol
The original Casino Royale novel (debatable)
    Casino Royale (2006)
    Forever And A Day

I don’t think you’re right in your second paragraph; I think this will definitely stand on its own. Also I think the team mentioned in some interview that they’ve been allowed to create their own Bond for it.

@NickTwentyTwo That’s what they said at the time. It’s not as if they could say it would be starring the next actor, as Craig is still the incumbent (or all intents and purposes until we have a confirmed new Bond). So we shall see. Maybe it will be a different “made for the game” character. But it would seem like a missed opportunity to me.

I suppose you’re right, anything is possible.
  • Just heard a review on the radio that made me laugh: "At 2 hours & 43 minutes, No Time To Die gives you no time to pee."

At my first showing, no one in the theatre got up at all.
Second (IMAX) showing; people were casually entering and exiting all night.
    Most odd.

My first reaction is : I really liked most of it, loved some scenes in particular, and was little mixed on some aspects - mostly the villain and his plot. But overall I place it 2nd in Craigs run, with CR in 1st and SP in 5th.
Going again tonight and be able to focus more!

That was better than you expected, no?

It was. Honestly, the majority of the film felt like Bond from -1967-1979. Lots of YOLT, Moonraker, OHMSS and GE references I felt. I'm not completely happy with the ending, but I accept it. The film felt a lot 'lighter' in tone, despite the incredible action and tense horror-like sequences.

That’s one thing I was concerned about going into the movie. Make sure to try and go beforehand.

JB needs to get back to murder and women for a couple outings.

    Don’t worry, they always course-correct.

Longtime fan/new member/first post. Headed out to see it this evening. Looking forward to it after this long wait. I was a little apprehensive after reading the first few reviews coming in on these pages, but think I will likely enjoy the film. Big fan of the books. I tend to take the films for what they are and do not get too riled up about it. Love Fleming's Bond. Really like Daniel Craig. But grew up with Roger Moore in the role and like him as well. I am pretty amped up for tonight, have been very careful and have not caught a single spoiler yet. Thanks for being careful in this thread. You all have whetted the appetite without spoiling the meal. I'll post later what I thought about it.

    Enjoy, @Rainy!

@9IW, if only I was that capable. Hopefully she gets to it ASAP, it is indeed time to go.

As a hardcore fan, it is your responsibility to initiate the standing ovation:

Horny buggers. But did anyone leave the room?

Everything indicates the film has been well received by most people. However important the detractors consider themselves to be, they are in the minority.

Let's see how the film fares in a few years time. We've all been locked up in a pandemic for 2 years, so audiences are probably just glad to see a film at the cinema again.

Too early to make that judgement right now. Films can get slated on first release, then build up cult followings so they end up being classics, and vice versa. We will see if this stands the test of time once the next Bond film comes out, and with a new actor.

I remember some critics of SF said something similar, that it would slip down once people “got over the hype”. It’s still highly rated by fans nine years later, even after SP came out and muddied Mendes’ rep.

I’ll ignore this reply… but just for the record, I replied to someone who was talking about the entire Craig’s run, not just NTTD.

Fair enough. As for Craig's run in its entirety, I'd agree with you.

Honestly if there's one thing that makes me outright angry in all of this it's the number of people who have spoiled the ending of NTTD in non-spoiler threads. Once is a mistake, maybe even twice, doing it in a thread with "NO SPOILERS" in the THREAD NAME is ridiculous. And I don't really care to hear any of the "oh I mixed the threads up" nonsense. It takes two seconds to double check which thread you're in before hitting "Post Comment".

As the thread title says...NO SPOILERS. Please be more careful @jetsetwilly
There are still members who have yet to see NTTD.
    Thank you.

Apologies. I thought my comment was hidden by a spoiler tag.

A spoiler tag is not enough for a thread that says NO SPOILERS PLEASE. It means no spoilers anywhere because you know some people will give in and click to see the spoiler. Just keep all spoilers to threads that clearly allow them, please.

I agree with this. We have plenty of spoiler-related threads for NTTD; for the rare one or two that are strictly devoid of them, we should keep it that way, including spoiler tags, as they still contain spoilers.

I've seen the film 3 times and my initial reaction stands.

Loved it. Agree with comments that it's expertly paced, doesn't seem like a lengthy film in the slightest, an easy watch each time. Much to enjoy throughout, specific to Bond as all the Craig films are and as a good film itself. The score is also a joy, not least for how it relates and recalls the other Craig Bond films. The brassy moments during the action are just one of the highlights. And music from earlier Bond films is welcome, appropriate, and relished. Credit to the producers and director for doing something outright masterful.

This sums it up for me:

Oh, my God. Of course. It had to be here. It had to be this way. Thank you.

I haven’t posted in quite some time but I’m happy to report I’ll be seeing the film in less than 30 minutes. Exciting times!

    Edit:
Just had a glass of Macallan 12 at dinner to get the feeling right.
