If any of you guys can get your hands on a copy of The Last of the Haussmans definitely should. A play starring Helen McCrory, Julie Walters, Rory Kinnear, and Taron Egerton.

  • What a horrible last 12 months for losing members of the Bond family. HM was brilliant in Peaky Blinders and I wish she'd had a bigger role in Skyfall.

My favorite performance by Helen McCrory was in a little-seen BBC miniseries called In a Land of Plenty (2001). She played a repressed 1950s housewife/mother who eventually cracks up. It was a masterly performance. Cancer has deprived the world of a superb actress.

I had no idea Helen McCrory was ill. That's tragic. RIP to the other Craig-era alum gone too soon, Paul Ritter, as well.

Completely agree @MaxCasino. His character of Sharkey in LTK was very underrated.

One of Bond s best allies. McRae played it perfectly.

    RIP Frank McRae.
He played a small but important role in LTK, one of the deaths of an more innocent character that hits hard. Certainly a likeable character.
I thought he played a good role in the film Batteries Not Included too. Should’ve been in more films. Sad loss.

Love Sharkey. He's a significant character to me because I liked the way LTK portrays Bond as a guy who has at least a couple friends. Frank added a lot of warmth to the rather dark first half of that film.

Sad to hear of the death of Frank McRae. He was great as Sharkey and his death in LTK was a very poignant, visceral and shocking moment. Of course his death was brilliantly avenged by Bond. I believe Sharkey was named after a fisherman that Ian Fleming knew though he never appeared in any of his Bond works. I also liked McRae in Columbo where he played a detective called Lt Robertson in the episode A Bird in the Hand... (1992) where the usual formula was changed to that of a straight mystery.

Sharkey was a nice addition to LTK as he lent some humor, not in a campy or distracting way, to a largely humorous film, while at the same time making you feel maybe a little more sadness upon his death than a lot of the series' other obligatory sacrificial lambs.

I also liked Frank McRae as Nick Nolte's no-nonsense boss in 48 Hours. He even out-foulmouthed Eddie Murphy in one scene.

Late to the party but heard of his passing the day of, very sad to see. He's always been one of my favorite allies of Bond's.

RIP Frank McRae-- apart from LTK, I love his roles in Last Action Hero, 48 Hrs. and especially Lock Up where he shared the screen with Stallone. And as Dragonpol mentioned, it was nice to see him show up in that Columbo episode. He had good chemistry with Peter Falk and could have been a recurring character in the 90s episodes, much like forensic expert George.

Also RIP Helen McCrory. Apat from SF I remember her mostly from the fourth series of Messiah starring Ken Stott.

Sad to hear of the death of Neil Connery, so soon after the death of his more famous brother Sir Sean too.

For those not familiar with O.K. Connery aka Operation Kid Brother, yes that is Bernard Lee and Lois Maxwell with Neil.
