Not so happy with Disney, I guess :

    https://www.cbr.com/mulan-theater-owner-destroys-display-after-disney-plus-announcement/

    But it's an understandable reaction.

    A childish reaction, for sure.

An independent cinema owner was being interviewed on todays Film Programme on radio 4 and Mulan came up in the conversation. This was recorded at the point at which Disney had pulled its August release. This guy has done everything required to ensure his cinema is covid safe and taken the gamble to open up to the public. He was incredibly upset at Disney's decision to not release Mulan. His point was that studios need to be supporting cinemas by giving them product but by bypassing theatrical releases they are leaving cinemas to struggle. The despair in his voice was palpable, so i can understand why cinema managers and owners are furious with Disney.

As much as it sucks for their business, it’s honestly an abysmal time to have people together gather in a closed room and risk further spreading the virus. Same with schools. China had reopened and closed several times due to sudden spikes.

I’m actually more upset that Disney reopened their parks in Florida.

The horror film Antebellum will go straight to VOD on September 18th. The film was scheduled for a wide theatrical release in August.

What's even more upsetting is that, in March when everyone else was closing, they kept the parks open one last weekend to get those extra few days of business.

Russia is adamant that their vaccine is ready. I guess we have to wait and see. We hope for the best though.

Exactly, LOL. I'm also very sceptical about it. But I guess hope is all we can count on.

Yeah, it certainly does. And sadly, our minds at the moment are very much accustomed to the ominous times, that good news needs to do more than convincing to convince us.

Well, who could have thought that anti-vaxxers would pose a problem during this pandemic?

They would have to make it mandatory? Is that within the scope of government power?

If only the US President & government weren't also anti-vaxxers.

The russians are going to make it mandatory with the vaccine ??? they have found but people are scared to have it because they think it hasn;t been tested properly...........

Breaking news (sadly): Russia did skip all large-scale trials before approving their vaccine.

This is the issue with rushed vaccines. Who here, given the past history of the soviet bloc, would trust the Russian government enough to allow them to inject their new covid vaccine into their child?

We’re all anti vaxxers in this instance I would guess.

Well, I'm not anti-vaccine, obviously, but in this particular case, I'll happily refuse as long as no serious clinical tests have been performed.

Yeah, the lack of testing makes it a no-brainer really.

Yeah, we should be striving towards damage limitation.

I wasn't commenting on the fact that these vaccines are Russian or not, but on the fact that they aren't sufficiently tested yet, @Thunderfinger.

As for American vaccines, I don't care if they are American or not. What I care about is: have they passed all the required tests? Nothing else matters.
