    Agree, he has done some incredible work in the past. Shame he was never given a chance? But hey? John Barry was the King of Bond scores as we all agree. Just bad timing for Williams.

    Well I can tell you that John Willams told John Barry once that he could never score a Bond movie, as he couldn't tread on Barry's toes!! Barry responded by saying Good, with a rye smile!!? Willams had a good relationship with Barry, and admired his work greatly, and both men are and we're giants of there crafts!!
    But... Willams would of given us a very different Bond sound, one though I can live without! Why, because bar two scores in the series, with had a great mix of music over the years!! All fitting the periods they had been written for, Barry is obviously the god father of Bond the scores and one of the key players in the Bond DNA.
    So... No, a Willams Bond score would of given us no more than what we got during these periods, other than if he scored TSWLM, which score wise is weak, song ok though!? I'd rather had a Jerry goldsmith Bond score for TSWLM!!!! :-B
    Would say more, but it as I can't be bothered to move my arse to the desk top, I'm typing on a iPad and although a great tool it's a pain to type on!!!? X.
    Oh... There's a John Willams concert with the LSO at the Barbican centre London later this year, I'll be attending and it should be a one off time to hear a great retrospective of his work!!!

    Yes your right!!! Both score and song, which when you consider the input Barry gave and never got a mention for Bond seems a bit rich!!? Marvin Hamlisch was at the time very popular, and that's why he got the gig, Cubby was sold on his popularity so therefore hired him, when asked by Eon/Cubby where they should look too, Barry recommended..... Bill conti!!! But cubby saved him for later!!
    Foot note.... Did you know that Thomas(SkyFall)Newman in his early days, worked on the orchestration for ....John Willams score to " Return of the Jedi!!" x.

    .Back to thesis 101, I think bonds verbal exchange with grant may be one of the best, if not the best verbal exchange because of its climatic breach of events slowly getting more heated and heated, but if I had to bring up other ones that are memorable, I would say Bonds verbal exchange with Le-Chiffre is great and exciting, yet it really wasn't a showdown. Bonds verbal exchanges with Renard and Elektra King were calm but enticing as well.

    Im sorry to go off topic here, but thesis 102 got me looking at casino royale 1967 on Wikipedia. I noticed there was a character in CR1967 named Evelyn Tremble/James Bond 007 played by (Peter Sellers). Now look at the name Evelyn Tremble. Take the Tr out of Tremble and put it in front of Evelyn and you get Trevelyn which is very similar to Trevelyan. Could this be the source of inspiration for 006's name in Goldeneye? I doubt it, but ya never know.

    I learned more from Bond films in the 70s/early 80s than I did in sex ed class. Particularly, re-entry.

    In some instances, yes. I have learned more about where cities are in the countries around the world and remembered them better than any geography class I took long ago. I also get to see what a lot of the places look on site, which improves the education. That's only one example of education.

    this thesis is a bit silly, i would say they're not really educational, perhaps FRWL is educational to inspiring hitmen showing techniques to kill with fiberwire.

    I don't find it is silly. I've learned a lot from Bond, and am more than thankful for it. I could live my whole life on lessons from film, and do just fine for myself.

    Ah educational in terms of self-help? Then I agree. Throughout my life Bond has helped mold my style of clothing and substance of personality. I'm only 20 but still prefer dress pants, a dress shirt and sleek clothing over raggidy jeans and saggy t-shirts. Bond has inspired me to workout daily and keep care of my health, especially due to the Craig Era. Yes Bond has inspired me in many ways, im sorry for sounding ignorant in my last post, I overlooked many obstacles.

    When I was younger, I seemed to remember a lot of things about other cultures from Bond movies. I'm always asked how i can do a spot on British accent :)

    Dutch. ;-) I live in the upper region of Belgium, a country the size of a bug but with the best darn chocolate in the whole world. Also, we provided AVTAK's Scarpine, JC Van Damme, waffles and French fries.

    I would agree with the thesis. Like people have already posted. Politics, Geography, different cultures, BIRDS AND THE BEES!!!!! ;) That's my boy! =))

    Yeah, I'd say so. There's no doubt that Geography is a bigee! Another one is what to do whenever you're in a fight and need some good moves to evade and defeat your opponent. I've never been faced with that before, but just from watching all these brilliant fist-fights with Bond, I'd feel more confident about surviving! Even further, I think the Bond movies are a great example of how movies can be just as entertaining and classy without all this cuss word garbage that comes up all the time in movies today. Let's take a lesson from the greatest film franchise of all time, Hollywood. There's no reason why language has to be in a movie to make it better! The Bonds are living proof of this!
