    Interesting ranking.

It was an interesting list to make. I've mostly focused on rewatchability in 2019, and going by which films I watch the most and/or am likely to pick out of the shelf, this was the end result.

It's been one of my favourites for as long as I've been a Bond fan, and if anything I like it even more these days than as a kid. If that's not worthy a top spot, I'm not sure which film is!

My 18 year old boy is home from uni and we are trying to get through all the Bond films, starting in order.

We have just finished the Golden Era. Below are his rankings so far.

He used to watch these films with me all the time, but after SP, he swore off Bond (which hurt like hell); but he’s come back to the fold and has had a blast watching these with me. So far a great list and I don’t think anything from the 70s, save for LALD, will disrupt what he has thus far:
    1/OHMSS
    2/DN
    3/FRWL
    4/YOLT
    5/TB
    6/GF

He actually quite loved it, loved Auric, and Bond (Connery), but found the climax a “little goofy” (soldiers falling down, pretending to be gassed); he found YOLT to be audacious and fun with tongue firmly in cheek— and more consistent in pacing. This pacing brought down GF in his estimation.
  • Those are valid reasons, I think. Consistent, logically argued.

Smart boy— takes after his mother.

What was really interesting was watching OHMSS with him. He was enthralled and moved. He genuinely found the great Telly Savalas an intimidating opponent... and Diana Rigg being the obvious choice to steal Bond’s heart (suffice to say he loved the barn scene proposal).

First ranking of the year. It's been weeks since I last did a ranking. For me that's the equivalent of the 6 year gap between LTK and GE.

    4. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME

Just finished rewatching the saga. That's my first ranking since October 2015 I believe. Something has definitely changed.

A few notes. The overall series is pure joy. I look at the films with a strong open mind, I basically like every portrayal that has been presented since the beginning. If a film is ranked #22 doesn't mean I hate it. I just like it slightly less than the others. The rewatchability of the overall franchise is outstanding. Even in the worst one, like MR and DAD, there's always something to enjoy. Funnily, I deeply love Moore as Bond, even tho I find his movies the "weakest" alongside the Brosnan era. So, here's the poll:

    01. Casino Royale
    02. From Russia with Love
    03. Thunderball
    04. Skyfall
    05. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    06. Dr. No
    07. Spectre
    08. Goldfinger
    09. Licence to Kill
    10. Quantum of Solace
    11. The Living Daylights
    12. The Spy Who Loved Me
    13. GoldenEye
    14. You Only Live Twice
    15. Live and Let Die
    16. The World Is Not Enough
    17. A View to a Kill
    18. Octopussy
    19. Tomorrow Never Dies
    20. For Your Eyes Only
    21. Diamonds Are Forever
    22. The Man with the Golden Gun
    23. Moonraker
    24. Die Another Day

While regarding the actors I'd say:

    Craig - Connery - Dalton - Lazenby - Moore - Brosnan

    Biggest complain?

Dalton doing just two. He is awesome.

With a new year, it's time to update my ranking.
When NTTD is released, I'll add it in.

    1. From Russia With Love
    2. Dr.No
    3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    4. Octopussy
    5. Casino Royale
    6. The Living Daylights
    7. For Your Eyes Only
    8. Goldfinger
    9. Thunderball
    10. The Spy Who Loved Me
    11. You Only Live Twice
    12. Live And Let Die
    13. GoldenEye
    14. Skyfall
    15. Licence To Kill
    16. Quantum Of Solace
    17. The Man With The Golden Gun
    18. Moonraker
    19. Spectre
    20. A View To A Kill
    21. Die Another Day
    22. Tomorrow Never Dies
    23. Diamonds Are Forever
    24. The World Is Not Enough

Few changes here and there. But nothing too life changing. QOS continues to gain a few higher placing's though.
I should also state, that there are no Bond films I overly dislike. All of them have scenes, dialogue, characters or what have you that I love. Though some films I appreciate more than others. I think most Bond fans have a similar disposition.

After applying a thoroughly objective method of analysing exactly which Bond films I enjoy the most (ie waiting till I’m sober) I’ve come up with a new improved list

    1. Moonraker
    2. The Spy Who Loved Me
    3. Goldeneye
    4. Live And Let Die
    5. Tomorrow Never Dies +1
    6. The World Is Not Enough +2
    7. The Living Daylights -2
    8. Die Another Day -1
    9. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    10. The Man With The Golden Gun +3
    11. A View To A Kill +4
    12. Octopussy +2
    13. You Only Live Twice -3
    14. For Your Eyes Only +1
    15. Dr No +2
    16. Goldfinger -5
    17. Skyfall -5
    18. Casino Royale
    19. Diamonds Are Forever
    20. Spectre
    21. From Russia With Love +1
    22. Thunderball -1
    23. Quantum Of Solace
    24. Licence To Kill

As mine appears to be the complete reversal of most of the lists posted here, I did consider not adding numbers. I could then claim that I had in fact listed the films in reverse order and I’d get lots of admiring remarks. But, it is what it is.

It's only been a few weeks, but I've already changed quite a few things in the middle section of my rankings. GF, LALD, YOLT and DAD have gained some places.

    ABSOLUTE FAVOURITES
    1. The Living Daylights
    2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    3. Thunderball
    4. Quantum of Solace
    5. GoldenEye
    6. Licence to Kill
    7. Octopussy

    OTHER FAVOURITES
    8. From Russia with Love
    9. The World Is Not Enough
    10. The Man with the Golden Gun
    11. You Only Live Twice

    VERY GOOD
    12. Casino Royale
    13. Moonraker
    14. Dr. No
    15. Live and Let Die

    GOOD
    16. Die Another Day
    17. Goldfinger
    18. The Spy Who Loved Me
    19. A View to a Kill
    20. Diamonds Are Forever

    LEAST FAVOURITES
    21. For Your Eyes Only
    22. Skyfall
    23. Tomorrow Never Dies
    24. Spectre

Edit: If I'd include NSNA or CR67 they'd be somewhere between TND and SP. So I didn't think it'd be worth including them despite both films boasting impressive casts.

Going to try recreating what my ranking might have looked like when I first went through all the films, when I was much younger. I'm not sure about every place (especially that middle section, from about 11-15), but it's just a rough attempt to see how different my opinions were back then! Just going to go through the first 20.

    2. The Spy Who Loved Me
    3. Licence to Kill
    4. The Man with the Golden Gun
    5. GoldenEye

    17. The Living Daylights
    18. For Your Eyes Only
    19. A View to a Kill
    20. Tomorrow Never Dies

I'll do a current, updated ranking after I finish my Bondathon.

    23. The Man with the Golden Gun
    24. Spectre

Looking at the last few members lists, its interesting how much Spectre has dropped in peoples rankings. Though not suprising i might add.

    My new list...

    1. Spectre

    24. The rest of them

But i thought your favourite Bond film was TWINE.... ;)

I haven't done this in a while, but mine would look something like the following:

    On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    Thunderball
    Dr. No
    From Russia With Love
    Goldfinger
    Casino Royale
    The Living Daylights
    Licence To Kill
    Goldeneye
    For Your Eyes Only
    Octopussy
    Moonraker
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    Skyfall
    Spectre
    Quantum of Solace
    Live And Let Die
The Man With The Golden Gun
    A View To A Kill
    You Only Live Twice
    Diamonds Are Forever
    Tomorrow Never Dies
    Die Another Day
    The World Is Not Enough

The first 10 are the only that really matter to me, personally.

I keep a list of my rankings on my phone and I am constantly swapping them up and down a spot or two; So I finally decided to quit numbering them and instead just group them in tiers in order of release, with the exception of tier 1.

    Tier 1:

    The World Is Not Enough
    Thunderball
    Goldeneye
    The Living Daylights
    Tomorrow Never Dies

    Tier 2:

    Goldfinger
    You Only Live Twice
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    Die Another Day
    Spectre

    Tier 3:

    From Russia With Love
    On Her Majesty's Secret Service
The Man With The Golden Gun
    License To Kill
    Skyfall

    Tier 4:

    Dr. No
    Diamond's Are Forever
    Live And Let Die
    For Your Eyes Only
    Casino Royale

    Tier 5:

    Moonraker
    Octopussy
    Never Say Never Again
    A View To A Kill
    Quantum Of Solace
