I was in the process of doing a new marathon but I stopped like 3 films in (watched TND, FYEO and TLD) cause I got lazy and bored, plus didn't feel like watching em again as I didn't feel like I wanted to sit through all of them again after like 3 or 4 months. If I ever finish it, I'll update my ranking for sure. I'm just someone who can and does update heir ranking by staring at it and thinking deeply about each film's placing and seeing which I prefer.

Another Eclectic list! Though I have to say I don't have any problems with your top 11! (Though you nearly blew it with your comments on DAD! Set in stone as worst Bond movie for me!)

Fair enough. I'd probably be here a while explaining why I feel it's a Top 5 Bond film lol.

I felt like projecting where NTTD would sit in my rankings. My reasoning is that the personal plotline already counts against it. If the plot/scheme, music, action, and Rami Malek lives up to the hype, then it can sit respectably in the top half.

    1. The Living Daylights
    2. Octopussy
    3. From Russia With Love
    4. Goldeneye
    5. Casino Royale
    6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    7. Dr No

    8. For Your Eyes Only
    9. Tomorrow Never Dies
    10. Moonraker
    11. Goldfinger

    No time to die
    12. Live and Let Die
    13. Diamonds Are Forever
    14. Licence To Kill
    No time to die
    16. The Man With The Golden Gun

    17. Thunderball
    18. The Spy Who Loved Me
    19. Die Another Day
    20. A View To A Kill
    21. You Only Live Twice

    22. Quantum of Solace
    23. Skyfall
    24. The World Is Not Enough
    25. Spectre

I'd also be quite happy if it got that high or better for me! The recent BTS with Fukunaga's comments really got me hyped, and my confidence is as high as ever for the film.

I'm in a similar boat as You Birdleson, I like the first 2 Craig films as their own thing but I was disappointed by Skyfall and Spectre (upon rewatching them, though I even wasn't satisfied with Spectre in theaters) and frankly that along with every amount of news I have heard of Nutella (NTTD Joke name) has made me less and less excited along with the long gap between Spectre and it being another factor to make me just want this era to wrap up already you know?

I mean to me this new movie should've been a thing in 2017 instead of 2020, like by now I feel the moment has long passed. I just find it impossible to care anymore sadly and I seriously am dreading it's arrival even if I'm not seeing it in theaters (not giving EON My Money for a product I probably won't like). CR and QOS were a good start and had many great ideas that I'm sad didn't pan out (mainly the Quantum Story) but they're Still enjoyable regardless, QOS more so than CR I'd argue though.

The Craig era has been wonderful for me. His first 3 films in my top ten can't be bad.

Then along came the debacle that is SP. And since NTTD is heavily connected to it (among other reasons) my enthusiasm is low. I'm going in with low expectations so hopefully i'll be pleasantly suprised.

I dont share your dislike of SP, think theres some good stuff in it apart from the final section! SF still disappoints me...but still think Craig is an exceptional James Bond! I was apprehensive about NTTD at the start, and the original trailer was only ok on repeat viewings, and the theme song is only meh, but recent footage and that bts video with Cary narrating has me really stoked for this Bond film now! Am convinced we are going to get something special!

Tbh Spectre is a weird one, really the first hour or so is fine, enjoyable even but once we get past that and get to the meeting with Brofeld that's when stuff falls so quickly. Even still taking the First hour into account, it does feel pretty lazy basically having a bunch of scenes or plot ideas being either homages or straight copying of other Bond movies from the past as well as other movies like Terminator Genysis and Captain America The Winter Soldier with the whole countdown till technology changes the world so to speak which is exactly what Genysis did and it came out the same year as Spectre. I mean literally you have scenes like The Train fight (which was good but is obviously trying to be TSWLM), Craig in an outfit similar to Lazenby's from OHMSS, The White Tux from GF etc. I'm not saying homages are bad but the whole movie feels like it's doing that to distract fans from the abysmally poor writing. Besides Skyfall was the 50th anniversary, why is Spectre having all these classic Bond elements and moments? It's just so weird
  • I'm not convinced the white tux was only there to reference earlier Bond films. If we go by that logic, every time he pulls out a pistol it is a reference. The series has been going a long time.

I took it simply as them wanting to get him in the white tux since he hasn't worn one at all during his tenure. I dunno.

Oh i agree there is some good stuff in SP. It's certainly higher on my rankings than some other films. The PTS is excellent and the train fight is one of the best fisticuffs in the series.

Regarding NTTD according to Cary the gunbarrel will be present at the start of the film. Great news!

I'll shut up now before i get told off for going off topic..!

Re:NTTD in the rankings, wherever it ends up, I expect it to drift the opposite way over time. CR and SF slipped quite a ways down, while QoS and SP kept rising after initial viewings. For me, I mean, obviously.

I continually have trouble ranking these films - I like them all to varying degrees of course but ranking them #1-#24 gets more difficult all of the time. So I'm going to try something different and rank the films largely in the eras I prefer, which still isn't perfect but feels more right at this moment. We'll see if this sticks....

    - The Daniel Craig Era -
    1. Casino Royale
    2. Skyfall
    3. Spectre
    4. Quantum of Solace
    - The Sean Connery Era, Part I -
    5. Dr. No
    6. Thunderball
    7. From Russia With Love
    8. Goldfinger
    - The Timothy Dalton Era -
    9. The Living Daylights
    10. Licence To Kill
    - The Other Fella -
    11. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    - The Roger Moore Era -
    12. The Spy Who Loved Me
    13. For Your Eyes Only
    14. Live And Let Die
    15. Moonraker
    16. Octopussy
    17. The Man With The Golden Gun
    18. A View To A Kill
    - Brosnan's Debut -
    19. GoldenEye
    - The Sean Connery Era, Part II -
    20. You Only Live Twice
    21. Diamonds Are Forever
    - The other Brosnan films -
