nomi seems arrogant and cocky in the trailer for no apparent reason. I’m hoping bond gives her a good dose in the 3rd act.

Agree. I’m all about a new 00 agent, and I don’t care that it’s a woman. But please, let’s have a moment where he shows her who the true alpha is.

+1 pretending to be tough and being tough is two different things. It could also be because of trailer, i just hope there is an heated moment between the two so it looks more natural.

I’m not crazy about the casting of this role, but was hoping that I would like her in the role; the trailer does not leave me optimistic. She appears to be everything that’s wrong when trying to depict a strong woman functioning in a traditionally male dominated world. It’s extremely heavy handed and grating.
Rebecca Ferguson in the MI films Is a perfect example of how do do it right; never does her character try to diminish or intimidate Hunt . She doesn’t posture to prove to the audience what a badass she is.
Men not wanting to see strong women in moves is highly exaggerated; we just want to see it done well.

Nomi getting down on her hands and knees in awe of the great James Bond wouldn't really create much character conflict and would thus dilute the drama. It's more interesting that she's cocky and wants to assert herself. We all know it's going to be Bond that is the central hero at the end of it all; the one that stops the plot and kills the villain. Nomi will likely be a bystander to that, either willingly or because her lack of experience causes her to make a mistake that Bond wouldn't.

    It's not Nomi's 25th film, after all.

You know, I was wondering why she is so antagonistic towards Bond. I havn't been scrutinising the trailer and/or productuon of the film, so I might have missed some vital information somone might have dug up.

My guess is that since the events of Spectre, Bond's almost become a myth or something within MI6. Where people talk about this unknown legendary agent who retired and disappeared. It could explain the security guard's reaction in the trailer.

If Nomi is indeed the new Agent 007, she feels as though she's been unfavorably compared to him because of he's such an infamous agent and wants to prove she's as worthy as anyone to be 007. Because of that, she feels resentful towards Bond, even though he didn't really do anything to make her feel this way and when Felix Leiter goes to Jamaica to ask Bond's help to locate a kidnapped scientist, she feels that she's been overlooked again.

That makes sense. I like that theory.

My first reaction to her scenes were mixed. Honestly I felt that the dialogue and interaction was edited into the trailer just to show the audience she's a bad a$s new double -O who will give Bond a run for his money. I couldn't decide if I thought she was going to come across as cool and heroic, or annoying and unlikable.

Frankly lines like "The world has moved on, Commander" are beginning to feel cliched and forced to me. The audience knows the Bond films have been around for decades.
A line like that might have worked fine in GOLDENEYE. But that was 1995. We don't need to keep being reminded that Bond is a relic from the past who needs to keep reinventing himself to keep up. I hope Bond has a snappy comeback in the final film.
John McClane might have responded by saying: "No f**king sh*t, Nomi!"

yes.. this i agree with.. i can see Nomi being what Bond was in CR - very brash and quick to jump into a fight without assessing the situation first.. i think Bond's experience, and her lack of it will ultimately be her demise..

Ok, I thought of a thing that the studio might do...

Imagine if Malek is actually Dr. No...

It turns out he is Dr. No, he somehow escapes and we all think he is dead or whatever

    Bond is 007 again.

There's some explanation and Bond has to go to a casino or whatever.

    Last shot:

Dark-haired woman is therere as sort of a dealer.

The camera goes behind a man in a tuxedo who is playing on the table.

    The woman says

    "I admire your luck Mister.."

    -Bond. James Bond.

We don't see the face of Bond, we just hear it, and that's how it ends.

    Full circle with Dr. No.

I am not saying this will happen but I believe there's at least 1% possibility of this happening.

    What would you think?

And what would you think if Dr. No is actually Malek?

A reminder of why fans should never be in charge.
Now, now, @M_Blaise. With respect to @dragonsky, I don't think he was suggesting for one minute that this was what he wished for, but more a case of what he thought the producers might have in store for us. It's just a unsubstantiated theory of his, not a desire to see it actually happen.

Yup, I think I made it clear haha

I definitely don't' want Malek to be Dr. No

But after the trailer my meter of "Malek will end up being Dr. No" jumped from 0% to..well..more than 0% haha

And that made me think..since this is Criag's last movie....and I came up to something that I wouldn't be too shocked if the studio does that

Here is the trailer in 4K:

I believe this is upscalled to 4K, isn't?

    These subtitles say.... Him 🤔

Well, in TDKR Bane apparently says: "I'm Gotham's Reckoning", but whenever I watch it, he clearly says "Rectudy". Which is not an existing word, at least in English (or is he referring to "rectum", meaning, he is Gotham's pain in the a**).

And when Bond talks to Nomie, he says "You are a 00?", the subtitles, however (you could make our English teacher go mad, when you translated it with "wie auch immer"/whatsoever), say "You were 00?".

A closer look at the books on the table seen when Bond talks to Nomi.

'Zen and the Art of Meditative Maintenance'? Probably not entirely correct, the image is too blurry. But 'The Complete Book of Sea Fishing' seems right, also considering the harpoon gun and the whole setting of the Jamaican hut on the shore.

While all of that is interesting, I’ve played the trailer for 13 people at this point and without suggesting either Him or You, when asked, all say they hear “Him” .

    You're welcome! :-)

Had a look at those book titles, but could't make out what's written on the spines – other than The Complete Book of Sea Fishing and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which @TripAces mentioned above.

Is that light blue one called Welcome Aboard, perhaps?

What an asinine (yet not unexpected) list.

    10. Oh brother. As the video admits: both women were villains,. And YES, he DID have to do them like that.
    9. Again: Nick Nack is a villain and tried to KILL Bond.
    8. Yes, this is one of Bond's truly bad moments. I agree there.
    7. What was wrong with this? He's supposed to "take him in?" Really?
    6. OK. Once again: Pussy Galore is an accomplice to the detonation of a nuclear device on U.S. soil. She is no innocent.
    5. A bit weird, but what options did Bond have?
    4. Solitaire is an asset. But, yes, this was was a little shady.
    3. REALLY?
    2. This is a difficult one. Bond is not the one who killed Severine. And Bond did not exploit her; he attempted to be her protector. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. And Bond's line is meant to be a distraction.
    1. Bond's disguise is unfortunately a necessity. Dumb but understandable.

    Seems like it!

Looking further at the set decorations, next to the books there's also a chessboard. I don't think that it will play a role in any of the scenes, other than being a nice detail to give the audience a general idea of how Bond spends his free time (assuming that's his place).

Oh and it can serve as another answer to the hardcore trivia question about Bond films featuring chess :D

    Exciting times.

They’re not Dymo labels though: they’re engraved metal.

Well excuse my enthusiasm, @mtm. An upgrade from Spectre. Will continue the search.
Well you're more than welcome to be enthusiastic; but that won't make it true! :)
Thanks for continuing this important discussion, @mtm.

So there was Skyfall. Not visible.

    Then Spectre.

And now No Time To Die.

Still the appearance of the familiar embossed tape characters famously used by Dymo over the years. It would be strange for other type markings like engraved plates to mimic that.

So therefore the outright Dymo Rhino can come into play. Non-adhesive, but "Stainless Steel Embossing Tape" by the same company. Can be cut to size.

Nomi does come across with a bit of excessive force at points in the trailer but i do agree that she would probably look up to Bond as a teacher but share frustration that he retired or dissapeared perhaps? Or as someone stated above she is maybe trying to prove herself as he would still be remembered as 007.

As much as some people think its too woke, i actually enjoy her from what little we have seen. I think at the end of the day there is plenty of room for her to be a traitor. How good would that be? Then he can get his number back without a problem and the general audience still has a strong female type bond character but she just happens to work for Malek.
Also heaps of friends who have never been interested in Bond now suddenly are because of lashana and Malek so thats great news.

  • I think Nomi's energy is great in the trailer. Yes she's butting heads with Bond but in an amicable way. Character interactions have to be interesting. If they just get along it would be boring.

Exactly. And, if anything, it makes it more satisfying when Bond is the one who saves the day.

Absolutely. I've no doubt that it's intentional and that Lynch will bring it to life extremely well. I'm sure any verbal sparring they have will be a highlight of the film.

@Brother_from_Langley, I originally took it as "you" and considered supporting that point.

Returning to it now I hear "him", and lipreading seems to indicate that as well. However, in the spirit of dubbing and film-making most anything in the final product is possible. Even different from what's available for audit at this time.
