    A shame really for Tim, Daniel and especially Roger.

    I like Dalton and Moore, and even Craig, as much as the next guy, but I'm sick of seeing all this "Connery was only a good Bond in his first" and then however many films.

    Maybe it's just all the retrospective interviews where Sir Sean has said that FRWL was his favorite of his Bond films and that he never thought they were quite the same after that which has people remembering him as unenthusiastic in his other Bond movies, but I disagree. If you didn't know about the turmoil behind the scenes, I'd say Sean Connery seems just as much 007 in Diamonds Are Forever as he was in Dr. No. Even though the movie quality dipped with DAF, Connery's Bond is certainly not one of the issues I have with the film. He seems about a decade older than since he started, which is fair because he literally was, but he still seems as charismatic and brutal as ever.

    And don't even get me started on Goldfinger, Thunderball, or YOLT, where he seemed to have become used to the part and fit effortlessly into the role.

    Compare that to George Lazenby, who has one or two good dramatic scenes that people remember him for, and who looks bored the rest of the movie.

    No need it seems to do your best every time out to win, nor does it matter to respect those who pay you handsomely to do just that. Make no mistake, I still enjoy DAF (YOLT is another matter), but Connery only did both because of money, not because he still had anything to contribute to the role. The many photographs available of Connery between takes during the filming of YOLT and DAF are witnesses to how utterly bored he was with James Bond, not to mention the poor showing he made when the red light was on.

    I will "understand" why he won this contest, but not support the decision nor will I enjoy it.
