@Risico007- I unapologetically love The Shadow. It's one of those film where I don't have to be in any specific mood, I can watch it any time.

I havent seen it for a long long time, but i seem to recall i liked it..will catch it when its next on SKY.

    Aaah i remember now..\alec Baldwin...

Helmed by Russell (Highlander) Mulcahy, it's an enjoyable romp and not forgetting the gorgeous Penelope Ann Miller!
Baldwin is great but Peter Boyle is still a great movie stealer!

I got it confused with Billy Zane's Phantom.

That's not bad either. Billy Zane wasn't bad as 'The Ghost who walks'

Ever seen Mulcahy’s Tale of the Mummy? It’s like a Hammer film, with dodgy effects and over-the-top acting, made in the 90’s.

Not seen that film will have to look out for it, I am a fan of Mulcahy Highlander and The Shadow two of my favourite films, I liked Resident Evil Extinction also another film Russel did.

Tonight: Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann (The Hundred-Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window...).

Very good and funny, and in the parts they did not delete from the novel, a very close adaptation of the book. Still, basically a condensed version of the original work. But totally enjoyable, with fantastic acting (especially by Robert Gustafsson, who plays the protagonist from age 25 to 100). A kind of Swedish version of Forrest Gump, minus the overdone saccharine sweetness, calculated sentimentality and implicit nationalism of the latter...and better for it.

The Brood (1979). Wow that was disturbing. A gruesome mixture of psychological and body horror.

I just saw this last night. Not bad at all. Some creaky special effects but it was pretty action packed and entertaining enough mindless fun.

Agreed. I didn't realize Kebbell was English either. He certainly didn't give that impression in the film.

I thought Maggie Grace was good. She kicked some butt.

I'm not American either (I've spent quite a bit of time there on work though. The accents vary considerably depending on where you live) but I thought it was decent enough, although there was something slightly affected about it, truth be told. Last time I saw him was in last year's Kong: Skull Island. He had a memorable small scene as a soldier who wanders off and encounters the beast.

Saw 2 films yesterday Grease and Casino Royale (popped my 2018 bond cherry with Craig's best bond film to date)

Grease is ok I feel there are no character arcs and sub plots go no where (why did the woman have the pregnancy scare) over all it's a classic so I would recommend seeing it if you haven't but its not for me however I LOVE the end song by Barry Gibb

Casino Royale what can I say other then its a brilliant bond film I am unsure if I am gonna see a lot of 007 this year not out of a lack of want but my step father who is having back issues is stuck home from work and I gave him my box sets of the films Dr. No - Die another day and one of my copies of Casino Royale because well I want to be a good son of course I might take one or two of the Dalton films back to show my wife but that is another sorry for another day

Films I have seen in 2018 (I don't think I am splitting up bond and non bond this year as I don't know how many I am actually gonna see)
    1. Casino Royale
    2. The A-team
    3. The Final Girls
    4. The Saint
    5. Taken 2
    6. The Shadow
    7. Taken
    8. Stand By Me
    9. Before Sunrise
    10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
    11. Goonies
    12. Before Midnight
    13. Grease
    14. Before Sunset

    Before series
    1. Before Sunrise
    2. Before Midnight
    3. Before Sunset

    Stephen King movies
    1. Stand By Me

    Corey Feldman movies

    Rampage
    rampage-movie-2018.jpg

I was wanting to see either Ready Player One, A Quiet Place, or Pacific Rim: Uprising but I have to work this evening so there were no showtimes that would be done before I had to be at work. I knew I would eventually get around to seeing Rampage because I grew up playing the games, so I figured I'd go ahead and see it today.
Honestly it wasn't as bad as I was expecting but it still wasn't anything great. It's just a decent popcorn flick and giant monster movie. The only thing that really brings it down is just some shoddy acting and some corny lines but at the same time it almost adds to the movie. I was surprised at how much cursing was in the film, even some sexual references here and there. There were quite a few little ones in the theater so that must've been awkward for the parents.
If you enjoy giant monster films or played the games I'd recommend it but you could also wait for it to be a rental.

I'll be checking it out Tuesday. Sounds like it will be right up my alley!

@bondjames I look forward to your review! I have a couple of weeks to go before I can check out Rampage. Before that I'll go watch Game Night and Avengers: Infinity War, and post-Rampage I'll check out Death Wish, Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story in the following weeks.

@DaltonCraig007, once again these silly staggered release dates mess up our ability to enjoy these films concurrently. I can't believe Death Wish hasn't been released near you yet. It's been out over here for some time, although I'm waiting for video on that one.

At least IW will release globally at once, and I hope the Bond folks choose to do the same with B25 rather than relying on glowing UK reviews to carry them into North America, as has traditionally been the case (it worked in 2012, and failed in 2015).

If I get a chance, I will to catch Beirut later in the week too. I'm pretty sure, given how things go these days, that it won't be in the theatre for long.

@bondjames, haven't they already confirmed it's the same schedule for B25 as the previous few? I thought that initial release mentioned a two-week differential, but it could change by then, I'm sure.

Yes @Creasy47 you are correct, they did confirm the same approach as in the past. I guess I'm holding out hope that with a new distributor they'll take a different track. After all, IW was also staggered and then they decided to go for a one shot deal, perhaps worried about plot leaks.

You're right - it's best to curb any sort of leaks, and can prove helpful at the box office.

    Carry On Spying (1964)
    Carry On Cleo (1964)

SPYING isn't one of my favourites, it's an average Carry On film for me. CLEO is (at least) one of the best. Thanks to the Burton/Taylor crew decamping from the UK to Italy, leaving the sets and costumes behind for the Carry On gang to take advantage of. Because of this, CLEO is the best looking and the funniest too. The regulars (Sid James, Joan Sims, Charles Hawtrey and both Kenneth's) are perfectly cast. HENRY will come close, but I don't know if it will top CLEO.

    ***1. Carry On Cleo (1964)***
    2. Carry On Regardless (1961)
    3. Carry On Cruising (1962)
    4. Carry On Teacher (1960)
    5. Carry On Sergeant (1958)
    6. Carry On Cabby (1963)
    7. Carry On Nurse (1959)
    8. Carry On Constable (1960)

    The Last Run (1971)
Gritty little crime thriller with the great George C. Scott as the former getaway driver returning for one last job, to transport killer Tony Musante and his girlfriend across the border.
Directed by Richard Fleischer (who replaced John Huston), with a Barryesque score by Jerry Goldsmith and lensed by Sven Nykvist ,
It's a slow burn movie with nicely shot car sequences. Haven't seen it in years. It's rather forgotten about, but worth a watch, especially for Scott!

Probably Cronenberg's last film that was really Cronenbergian

Of his later stuff I didn't care for Cosmopolis or Maps to the Stars

Not a fan of Naked Lunch either.
