Although SC's return in NSNA again disappointed in so many ways, there was a great line delivered by Q that waxes nostalgic for Bond's glory days.

"Now you're on this, {Mr. Bond],I hope we're going to have some gratuitous sex and violence."

It's time for Craig's Bond to lighten up and exhibit a little more polish and sophistication. With a new M at the helm, mourning for Vesper well past the statute of limitations, his childhood home and DB5 little more than memories, the time has come for a Bond that has the feel of the early Bond films.

Wit that doesn't sound so juvenile that it actually makes one groan.
Style and charm that doesn't come off as silly and smug.
    Fearlessness that is believable.
A villain who actually seems a threat.
Emotional baggage left in cold storage.
A villain's plot that seems genuinely threatening.
    Action sequences grounded in reality.
A film that doesn't feel influenced by whatever is currently popular.
Finally, a film that actually feels like something Fleming might have written.

Does Casino Royale not check all those boxes? Let's just get back to what that film managed to establish: a clearly defined new Bond.

Definitely. There has not been a proper baddy base for such a long time. It needs to be beautifully designed.

Absolutely. Very well put. And it has to have a very high quality script at its heart.

If they put the gun barrel sequence at the start, I'll be more than satisfied.

    Apart from that:
    - Bond sleeping around less, as I think it often disrupts the story.
    - Just breathtaking locations. Florence would be nice. I'm always looking for something that equals those scenes in the Hagia Sophia in Instanbul. Someone mentioned snowy landscapes; I agree. When I watched Inception I was just thinking how great those snowy action sequences would fit into a Bondfilm... it reminded me of TWINT, TLD, FYEO, OHMSS, etc.
    - No plotholes.
    - A villainous plan that doesn't focus on technology; I get that it fits the world of today and that Bond has to be all serious and realistic now, but there was something glamorous about the evil 'taking over the world' plans in the old movies. Of course, those could easily turn silly.
    - More deceit; maybe from within MI6? Being aware that someone might not be telling the truth because of past traumas, psychological reasons, etc.

And I know nobody will agree with me on this, but I wish they wouldn't use digital film instead of 35mm. To me it doesn't matter if the action scenes aren't completely crisp and clear, I think it's just ugly. This will never happen though.

I want Quantum to return and to be a very sinister threat but without overt baggage of bringing up Vesper.

Gritty, visceral fisticuffs. I want the fight scenes of Bond 24 to make the fights in CR and QoS look like pillow fights.

James Bond to be called James by Moneypenny and to be called 007 by the rest if his colleagues.

    Snow action of some sort.

Luxurious and glamorous locations and interiors.

Aeroplane takeoff or landing indicating Bond's arrival/departure of at least one location

A physically imposing henchman that can give Bond a very serious fight.

The Bond babe to survive and for Craig to get his long overdue obligatory love/romantic ending.

    Bullit-esque car chase

A new and awesome badass rendition of the Bond theme.

Bond to use more stealth tactics to takeout bad guys

A sense of gripping tension and atmosphere

I want Bond 24 to feel like a hybrid of FRWL, OHMSS, GE and CR.

Craig to have more hair than he did in SF.

No imposing personal themes. Bond had a job to do, let him do it without the plague of back-stabbing, double crossing colleagues.

I agree 100% with all of these elements. You saved me a lot of typing ;)

Really, I wish that some humor would be nice, also stop killing the women, write a story with no holes in it...and I agree...bring back a Vanquish Aston Martin...and another thing...stay out of Turkey this time, enough's enough.

I feel like if they want to keep killing women in the James Bond series, they should just give us a well written femme fatale, henchwoman who Bond could at least kill himself. Also, we would get satisfaction from their deaths instead of feeling disappointed by the fact that another Bond girl has died.

In fact plenty of them. Sure there are quite a few Bond flics burdened with illogic/implausibilities, but real plot holes are quite rare indeed. Keep in mind, that even the much chided DAD has only one real plot hole and that is how Graves could manage to get from a nonexistent person to someone soon to be accoladed by the Queen in just one year. It usually takes decades to have ones existence even acknowledged by the royal circus. Also YOLT which spells ridiculous to most has no plot holes, but tons of implausibilities.

    1. Return of Quantum, with explanation of their absence in the last few years.
    2. David Arnold to do the soundtrack and the theme song.
    3. Proper use of James Bond theme (if David Arnold is gonna do the score, this will be assured).
    4. A parkour chase like at the beginning of CR and QoS.
    5. No cheesy gadgets.
    6. Script should be based on Fleming's source material.
    7. Gunbarrel at the beginning, with Maurice Binder style slightly updated.
    8. Bond not getting the girl at the end of the movie

Definately a gunbarrel at the start and Maurice Binder style rather than cheap looking CGI. A missed opportunity they could have used for SF if you ask me.

Although she is to appear in the upcoming film 'Man from UNCLE', I would love to see Elizabeth Debicki as a Bond girl.

I agree, and for those of us who DO want an opening gun barrel to return, at least we may find some solace in knowing that because Mendes initially planned for it to return at the beginning of SF, it's highly likely it will return to it's original place for the next film. As I mentioned elsewhere, I'd like to see a return of the producer's credits either side of the white dot:

I think that would be a nice touch.

They've missed the boat there. 'Albert R Broccoli's Eon Productions Presents' should've appeared either side of the dots for the 50th to as an homage to DN all those years ago. And it should've been the design from the Brosnan era which is a nice CGI update of the original rather than the crap we have now which looks like it's been designed by some deluded fanboy with minimal computer skills on YouTube.

And it should've been at the beginning FFS!!!

All this really isn't rocket science is it?

That's it, the Brosnan barrel was a slick update on Binder's- absolutely perfect, CR's was fittingly glamorous, QOS's was supposed to be realistic, and therefore ended up looking dull, and SF's barrel was (loosely quoting another member's description here) 'cheap auto vinyl seat covering'. As far as its placement goes, these days I don't mind seeing the gun barrel at the end, and where it was in CR was incredibly clever- heck, I'd like to see it at the end of the theme song IF executed right- but three films in a row is pushing it. At the end of the day, those white dots scrolling across the screen are meant to give the audience a nudge and make them fully realize, 'wow, a cracking new Bond adventure is about to unfold before my eyes!', not 'Oh, the film's over, I guess it's time to go home'.

Gun barrel at the front, more prominent use of the Bond Theme, and maybe even- dare to dream- the 007 theme. And a big huge theme song like KD Lang's "Surrender." Of course, I wish the DB5 would return, but the last time I saw it- which was this afternoon when I watched SF--it didn't look too good.

Producers of Bond 24, please hire Akiko Stehrenberger to create the posters for the movie! She is probably the most talented movie poster artist working today. Just look at this beuty: akikomatic.com/movieposters/HAYWIRE_MP.jpg

Interesting poster, although not sure about the movie title - it's almost invisible. Her style would go well with this cinematographer they've appointed though. His work on 'Let the Right One In' really stuck in my mind - stunning. Personally speaking, much more distinctive and interesting than Deakins.
