Apparently a two month shutdown is now likely. What on earth were they thinking when they allowed Ford to do scenes where he can get injured like this??

If the report in the paper is right he was just doing something which happened to set off an old injury - I guess that sort of thing you can't really plan against as even fairly innocuous movements can do that sometimes.
It's a shame as it means they may miss the weather in some locations.

I think it's quite interesting that Bond fans were moaning that we 'never get anything' and 'Eon ignore the fans' etc. but to compare with this Indy movie, at this point NTTD had had a live broadcast from Jamaica where the cast were unveiled and interviewed, big Twitter reveals of portraits of the cast, a teaser synopsis of the plot of the movie, and perhaps more besides that I've forgotten. Indy V on the other hand, has had zero official reveals other than a press release about three cast members and a statement about Ford being injured- and that's it! :)

When you consider the catalog of Bond compared to other franchises it’s not even close. Even with MCU films it’s only been a decade so far, so who knows if that can even last for another 50 years like Bond.

Yeah I've never understood the 'they should give us something' theory: the Bond guys give us quite a lot. We had official portraits of Craig come out while they were still filming (that great shot of him walking away in sunnies from the Aston V8 I think was published the day after they shot it), a behind the scenes teaser video while they were still shooting, interviews, a podcast on the way etc. - they embrace the fanbase a fair bit.
And I'm not complaining about the Indy production giving us nothing so far- I don't expect them to. I guess a photo of Ford in costume at some point would be nice, but I don't expect anything else.

Funnily, for CRYSTAL SKULL, LucasFilm released a photo of Ford on his break during shooting as the first publicity photo, and that did enough to hype people up.

Maybe seeing Ford during a shoot for WWII sequence with dots on his face didn’t seem as enticing.

I think it's only a minority of Bond fans that do that. Most of us are very patient, loyal fans. Diversity is always welcome. Be boring if we all agreed. Each to their own, but I don't think bagging Bond fans on a Bond fan site is going to win you any friends though.

Oh they’ll have been taking hundreds of photos! I’m sure there will be a nice one along soon :)

Yes it’s the minority I’m talking about, it happens quite often and I’m always puzzled by it because Eon treat the fans pretty well as far as I can see- that was the point of my post: a positive one that we’re treated pretty well. If you feel like you’ve been ‘bagged’ I’m sorry, but if it’s something you’ve never complained about then I wasn’t talking about you. As you say, it would be boring if we all agreed- I happen to not agree with this minority, sounds like you don’t either.
Python got what I was taking about, although I wouldn’t go so far as to call Bond fans entitled and spoiled maybe.

I am a fan who went through the days when you were lucky to get a tidbit on the latest production from a monthly sci-fi magazine. Now I try to stay spoiler-free, so, yes the culture is different. People want everything up-to-date and they want it yesterday, so that's been created from what's available. So I can understand where that comes from.

I'm of the more-is-less school. I recall in early '06 getting that first shot of Craig pointing the gun in the Madagascar costume and that was enough to get me excited. The title reveal is something to look forward to. That shot of Ford in the Indy costume was enough to get stoked about. The speculation on the era in which it's set and how Scotland figures in or whatever is fine if people want to debate that but it also gets to the point where people do get riled up. It's part of the reason I quit visiting the Bond 25 thread, that and to avoid spoilers.

Yes that's what made me think of it: when NTTD started filming we knew it was about Felix asking for Bond's help and a missing scientist (or something: it's so long ago now! :D ) and they even showed us a sneak peek at Bond's house in Jamaica, whereas on this Indy movie we don't even know what year it's set in! :D
And I think both approaches are absolutely fine; I just think it's interesting to note how much more open Eon actually are and they're maybe not given enough credit sometimes for the extent they try to engage the fanbase.

I agree. I've seen some bitter comments toward Barbara B. and Michael G. and I feel more of a sense of gratefulness for their dedication to the series than what we're not getting when we want it. After all, they're not forcing me to buy their product.

Yes I don't like all of the bitter bitching from various minorities at Broccoli & Wilson or Kathleen Kennedy: if they don't like their product then they just shouldn't watch it again. They shouldn't spend ages spitting vitriol at them and making up stories and posting them to YouTube.

Again, another by-product of our modern lives and the access to technology. Share your thoughts, wanted, unwanted or whatever. Everybody wants and can have a say. But the beauty of it is we can ignore it just as well, which is what I try to do. There's a difference between spirited or passionate discussion and flat-out complaining and whining.

Exactly, ignore what you want… I don’t have any problem with bitching about EoN or KK as long as they have legit criticisms which both parties have given plenty of reasons. Also they’re both controlling something they didn’t create so when you’re not the source but merely the custodians, you are even more open to criticism.

WHY aren't the Indy 5 producers releasing footage of H Ford's surgery ?!!? Inquiring minds want to know !

Which is fair enough because it was an actual legal issue which went to court.

    She’s a woman.

I’ve seen this with a (a smalll) subset of Bond fans too regarding Barbara Broccoli. Seeing her getting the most ire while her brother gets a free pass (despite him coming up with controversial decisions like making Blofeld a foster brother). Just go to CraigNotBond and you’ll find a plethora of sexist remarks about how she can’t objectively run the franchise because Danny gets her panties wet.

The Kathleen Kennedy hatred stuff though is much more over the top than I’ve ever seen from any fandom because it’s filled with so many twists in logic. For example, in order to explain why The Mandalorian is “good” in the eyes of “The Fandom Menace”, they’ve created this narrative that Kennedy actually has no control over that show because Filoni and Favreau somehow “barred” her from the sets and writers rooms, highjacking the series from her. Uh huh, the person who runs LucasFilm seemingly has zero control over one of the shows.

It’s just because they’re so mad over how she handled the sequels trilogy that they’re too stubborn to admit she may have overseen at least one aspect of Star Wars that was done right in their eyes.

A new rumour which popped up yesterday, and it certainly seems logically like something they would explore:

Disney Reportedly Developing Young Indiana Jones Project

They need content for Disney+, Indy is always a big draw when a film is released and it will have a blaze of publicity with the new movie, there's resistance to recasting Ford but Young Indy has been done before so seems acceptable...

No idea if the rumour is reliable but it doesn't seem totally unbelievable.

I actually really enjoyed the original Young Indiana Jones series and would not oppose a
    new take on that.

As with Bond, casting the right actor would be crucial; Phoenix dis a great job.

We Got This Covered is not a reliable website. They make things up all the time. I used to run into news articles from these people; now I flat out skip them. Read other sites.

Phoenix was wonderful (and it's so sad because he clearly would have been a Ford-level star today) but he was ultimately doing a Harrison Ford impression for the purposes of the film- he wasn't trying to make it his own. I guess a new actor who actually gets the role would have to do a Roger Moore and do it his way rather than copy his predecessor.

Yep I'm sure, but I'd be pretty surprised if the idea hasn't been floated at Lucasfilm/Disney.

No question about it. But the website is hogwash.

Lucas wrote 70 story ideas for Young Indiana Jones and only made 31 out of them. If Disney wanted they could revive the show and finish the remaining stories.
