He was one of the greatest storytellers of the last century, a cultural icon.

Is he regarded as highly in the States? He is here in Scandinavia, at least.

I'm planning on reading all Hellboy comics ever published. Is that feasible or are there simply too many of them?

There are a lot of spinoffs as well. Some are worthwhile, others not so much. Hellboy himself has also had several series running. I guess it comes down to money and time in the end. I have a collection of 20-something books myself (Hellboy, B.P.R.D., Abe Sapien) There is definitely more stuff out there I would be interested to check out.

    This is a good one.
  • Sandman: Read them all. Start w/ Volume I & go all the way to the end. No finer comic book in the English language IMHO.

Back to the Future, Volume 1

This is fantastic! It’s like the part 4 we never got; very well done, obviously made by fans.
Anyone who loves the movies should check this out.

Only gripe: each issue is a different artist. That can be a little jarring when you read a collected trade paperback

Been reading a few Roy Of The Rovers issues recently (I still have 100’s boxed up). Was always a big part of my childhood and thought I’d have a read of some in preparation for the reboot that starts in March of the Day magazine on 5th June, before the release of a new graphic novel in September and new tie in YA novel in October.

    Star-Wars-Darth-Maul-Son-of-Dathomir-2014-Issues-4-Book-Series-0.png

I'm a fan of The Clone Wars cartoon so I had to eventually get around to reading this to find out what happened to Maul after the show was cancelled. Pretty solid book but nothing great.

Some recollections from Eisner. He went there for a magazine in the 60s. Eisner was always excellent.

"For a magazine"? Would that have been P*S*? Eisner was a private contractor at the time, working for the US Army on a comics-style magazine intended to help indifferently-educated enlisted personnel on the safe & proper use / maintenance of their equipment in a fashion that they'd be able to understand -- i.e., using comics to show them how to repair a jeep or a gun. Yes, Eisner was always excellent. He was also way ahead of his peers in most legal & business matters.

Not that I’ve read it yet but I picked up a copy of the Silverfin graphic novel in a local charity shop yesterday for the price of £2. Bargain I feel. Didn’t even know this was available.
