    One is a telescope, and the object with the cone shape is a ship's hand-pumped fog horn. A similar horn is seen again in OHMSS.

    I once read a rather lengthy internet article or essay about the early Bond scores. It pointed out, among other things, that the TB score had a much greater number of motifs and themes than its predecessor. I've tried to locate it again to no avail. Does anybody remember such an article?

    The Wikipedia article on TB's score also states:

    Thank you for your help, @marc. Unfortunately, the article I'm thinking of is a different one. I remember it also discussed the Goldfinger score in detail, and it was more academic in tone, rather light on opinions. It was also much longer. Still, I did enjoy reading that Ravings in Cinemascope article you posted. Thanks again.

    Who was the person who called Koskov? Was it Kara? I believe it was but if it was her why would Koskov look frighten when he answers the phone?

    It's definitely Kara. Perhaps it's because she sounds frightened or something, or maybe he's not prepared for what she might end up saying.

    It's Kara, she even says so later in the film when Bond is poisoned with the chloral hydrate.

    Why does Bond need to impersonate Sir Hiliary’s voice in OHMSS? I dont think Sir Hilly and Blofeld ever met, unless they spoke on the phone?

    Well, to rationalize it it would help OO7 to be in character (as Bray) and not fall into behavior that would expose him as an agent.

    At least until after sunset.

    In Spectre, I have no idea why Bond calls C "C" in the first place, and I suspect I'm dumb for not knowing.

    No, you're not. Just looked backed through the SP script and it's not really clear why Bond calls him C.
    Also the line "This new merger is going to take us out of the darkness, into the light."
    Pretty much seals Max Denbigh as a villain. It's one of SP many faults.

    Double entendre. The director of the real MI6 is referred to as 'C', and Bond thinks Denbigh is a C-word.

    Exactly. I got the implied meaning when I first saw the film in the cinema. I think it's pretty clear what it means but I appreciate not everyone will lift that meaning from it on the first viewing. Like all things, it's subjective.

    Just posted this in another thread. Why does Stromberg need the Super Powers to blow each other up to create his underwater city? Why not just go ahead and build it. I don't believe countries own the ocean floor. If he successfully creates the war he is triggering how or who will help him build the new world under the sea?

    Couldn't he had achieved his aims without a world war?

    In the novel, Bond gets a great deal of intel on Sir Hilary (including his family tree) as well as de Bleuvilles (de Bleuchamp in the film), from the College of Arms, learns to imitate him, without actually having met Sir Hilary as he's living up in the Scottish Highlands, rarely seen, that is, if my memory serves. Bond also learns the rudiments of heraldry, to back up the cover. Mi6 fixed him up a good passport in Sir Hilary's name as well. That all went a long way to proving his false identity to Blofeld. The film doesn't have any time to get into all that.

    To make it look like a terrorist attack on the pipeline, and as Bond says, to cover the plutonium they will use in the submarine in Istanbul.
