I'd have to say the sets are the best thing about the film. Drax's HQ in the Amazon with all those screens (not to mention the rock pool outside), the shuttle exhaust chamber, the centrifuge, the space station.

    Oh here's one:

The ice car chase sequence from Die Another Day, often heralded as a highlight of the film, is garbage. Even the bit with the ejector seat sucks; you can clearly see the missile go past Bond's car rather than under it. With all the CGI crap that was injected into that film like saline, you'd think they would've "fixed" that in editing.

MR has plenty going for it. Outside of DAF, it's probably the second funniest Bond film. The cinematography and score are excellent. And Drax is a good, perhaps very good villain. Despite too much silliness--mainly from Bond bowling out Holly in the Venice hotel room to Bond riding to the Magnificent Seven theme--this is far from the worst Bond film. I daresay it's a bit underrated.

    We agree on MR.

And as to the use of CGI in movies these days, it is unavoidable in the movie industry to not use any. It is a matter of the amount used and how it is used. now that the newness and possibilities are a known quantity perhaps it will be used in better dosages. I do hope that EON never decides to take the stunts out of the equation in favor of CGI all the way. It would make it too much of an Star Wars product for me.

Another controversial opinion relating to MR:

I prefer Wai Lin to Holly Goodhead.

Other than her name there isn't really much to Holly. Most of the time she's just there to look pretty and say quips and exposition to Rog.

Wai Lin is more believable as a trained woman of action.

As a MR fan i would agree with your assesment, that said I find Holly Goodhead more attractive.

New poster here so forgive me for getting these off my chest...

Daniel Craig is a horrible, HORRIBLE James Bond. There is nothing suave or sophisticated about the man at all.Completely miscast.A decent enough actor in other films and could have probably made a good Bond villain or even another 00 agent, but as 007? Christ no.

Skyfall is the worst Bond film of all time.It is even more ridiculous and far fetched than DAD except that DAD is at least fun and doesnt take itself seriously.

Goldeneye is the weakest Brosnan Bond.I still like it but its highly overrated.

I was happy when Vesper Lynd died in Casino Royale. What an annoying woman ( even before she betrayed Bond ).

Having Judi Dench in Casino Royale was silly considering it was supposed to be a reboot. She gets too much screentime as it is.

Daniel Craigs Bond is an unlikeable, low life scumbag.

The Spy Who Loved Me is the best Bond ever made and will never be topped.

    Thanks everyone.

That is the 1st Doctor, from the tv show Doctor Who, doing a Sean Connery pose. And he is a TIME LORD from GALLIFREY.

I always imagined there being a mini-Jonestown over there, after SF. They all gathered around clutching anti-Craig literature and then, rather than down cool-aid, they all choked on their own bile.

there is nothing as nice as a decent beer, I personally find that vodka martini stuff undrinkable stirred or shaken makes no difference.

Thanks! Sorry if my opinion on Craig and his Bond films offend anyone, just not a fan of his take on the character at all.Cannot understand why he and films get so many rave reviews.Actually i really liked CR as an action film but thought it would have been much better had a suave and sophisticated actor been cast as 007.

Which is your opinion and you have a right to it.

I do not see anything controversial with the view that Craig is horrible. He has absolutely nothing to do with Bond. He looks like a pierogi. What is the excuse for that?

A foaming beer! I see it now. Always looked like a guy flashing his coat to sell contraband clocks to me, haha! I can even see the arms showing the time. (Time to see an occulist, I guess.) Thanks.

Another (final) controversial opinion regarding MR:

There's a slightly homosexual feeling about Moore's Bond in the film.

Is it? I always suspected many things with Moores' Bond ,but never something gay. Far from it, to tell the truth!

Are you thinking about the extended cut where Manuela's gown opens to reveal a flaccid penis.
