I guess I have a decent amount of Bond junk around here. But it’s the stuff that I’ve long since parted with that I feel would be so much more impressive if I had hung onto. When I was a kid I had the original Odd Job and Bond plastic action figures that my parents bought me after taking me to see GF at the drive-in. I had the toy attaché case from FRWL (a few years after the film was released) though I didn’t actually see the movie until the ‘70s when it aired on ABC. My Cousin, who is three years older, says we tore it to pieces looking for more hidden compartments. I have no memory of this.
I also had the original paperback of Moore’s diary covering the filming of LALD, and a first hardcover printing of Amis’ COLONEL SUN which I had bought in a used bookstore for a dollar. I have no idea what happened to my old books. I never lived in one place for more than three years until I was in my 40s. I was quite used to things just disappearing.
The first Bond comic book, DC Showcase: DOCTOR NO, which I bought at a comic book convention in NYC in the ‘70s for $20. I recently saw it going for a couple of thousand. Destroyed in a flood after my mother moved to Delaware and stored any old boxes in a basement which was flooded.
    All gone.

A sad story I've seen so many times. If nothing else, you are in good company as I also collect sports memorabilia and if you had a dime for every time somebody talked about their Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays cards that ended up in bicycle spokes or their moms threw out when they went to college then I could afford one of those in mint shape.

I have my own issues with some of these things. I opened the Mego Bond figures I had and that prized Corgi OP set with the horse trailer and AcroStar jet I just had to open and now it's prized in mint.

I was always curious about the fact Bond and Madeleine carry basic cellphones with them in the NTTD PTS. I'm not an expert on the subject of phones, so maybe I'm wrong, but I would imagine smartphones are more closely associated with the luxury that is typical of a Bond film. I wonder if that choice was made for visual and practical purposes, for example, Bond looks better using a small, simple phone in the PTS rather than a large one. And later in the film, he carries a smartphone, because the respective scene requires him to take some snapshots of the map of Safin's island.
Are they "burner" phones used early on based on their status and likely intent to live off the grid.

Them using burners is the story explanation - although they are pretty crap at it, if SPECTRE were able to hack Madeleine's burner. The more prosaic explanation is that Nokia wanted to market their retro line of phones. They still have a remarkable line-up of "dumb" phones.

Is this visible in the film?
A couple of different sources claim it to be from TWINE - you can see a section of what appears to be this one on the CD stack on Moneypenny's desk (when Bond offers her his cigar). There are also CD cases in Q's lab which may hold the same disc. CDs are seen in every film from LTK to NTTD, with perhaps the exception being SP. Haven't spotted one there yet.

Some other MI6 CDs, this one claimed to be from either GE or TWINE. Not sure:

An old pic of the one from DAD:

I suppose the retro phones symbolize Bond and Madeleine wanting to get back to simpler times. I love these older looking phones, they have character, whereas the newer smartphones all look the same; no identity of their own. Back in 2019-2020 there was speculation across the forums about phones being burners, which I think stemmed from one of the old phones seen on Q's home office desk in a BTS photo, as well as the various Astons possibly being burners too.

Damn, that's a nice ghetto blaster! Is it in working nick?
I've had the ghetto blaster for a little under a year, but haven't tested it out yet (I know, some Dalton fan I am). The seller claimed that the CD player and radio works, but the tape deck needs new belts. Luckily, I have the soundtrack on both formats. Otherwise, it's in great condition; took me quite a while to obtain one as they go for harsh prices at auction.

It's bloody heavy; there are solid metal pieces on the speaker alone. Must be over 20kg, and thus has to sit on the bottom shelf. Once I get my Bond room in order (hopefully sometime next month), I'll give it a test run!

Really impressed with the smaller Speed Champions DB5 from Lego:

To my eyes, looks more accurate than the previous larger one (and Bond goes well with the custom Lego Silenced PPK which I think came from brickarms.com).

Ah, good old 'portable' technology. Like my first computer, which had a carry handle so was technically a portable computer:

The designer of the smaller size Lego DB5 explains how he designed it. Great stuff, might have to get one of these.

I have a couple of posters, about 60x80cm, look like ex-cinema/shop displays. When I unrolled them I was surprised to see that the back of the poster was not blank, but had the same image on the back, and reversed. Of all the movie posters I've had over the years, I'd never seen this before. I assumed this had something do with letting the light through, making it 'pop' more when it's in the window, and after some quick research it turns out they were for use inside a lightbox. How did I not know this? One is from SP, Bond in white tux on blue, and an Avis poster from TND, in French.

To go along with the new Lego DB5, I bought this Lego Lamborghini Countach, which I'm hoping to convert into the TSWLM Lotus Esprit:

    312520437_458665399691776_7331599997703728539_n.jpg?stp=cp6_dst-jpg&_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=0debeb&_nc_ohc=nM9-1UgpuE0AX-Z1ejT&_nc_ht=scontent.fyvr4-1.fna&oh=00_AfCSjXiqT-tsKwwq5-E4IuiSdcPoRBzwbtDXQbzdlwIhsA&oe=6361DEB7

The job is basically half done already, it's a very sharp model, but there are some changes to made in the front (make those transparent headlights white, and make the tip of the front black), and a bunch of shaping work probably to be done on the back. They did a really good job on the back of this model for the Countach tho, so, we'll see.

@Agent_99 Thank you! I miss the old phones, they had character (you could tell them apart). I think we can see one of the postcards in the ice hotel, when Miranda appears to show Bond his room.

Current state of the 007 collection: most books are in my Kindle Paperwhite. I have it on good authority Santa has a few items in mind for me, including the Corgi Triumph Scrambler 1200 which is still vaporware at this point, though expected first week of December. But as long been the case, Corgi couldn't hit a release date if it were right in front of their noses. It's November '22, yet still with the supply chain mwah mwah mwah.

Awesome collection @brinkeguthrie! I've half a mind to get some kind of eReader to put all the Bond novels on... but I also kind of want to get an iPad Pro and put all the novels and films on that, and use it for other things as well. Not as good a reading experience on an iPad given the screen rather than eInk, but the higher functionality is a draw for me.

My paperback Flemings from the 60s were disintegrating; I'd find pieces of paper in bed. So I got a Kindle Paperwhite 10th Gen and it's fantastic. A nice denim-like hard case to go with it. I have all the Flemings, Gardners, Bensons, Moneypenny Diaries, and a bunch of 007 related titles, all in their own folders. (41 Grisham titles, too.) You can read them online with the Kindle Cloud reader, put an app on iPhone or iPad too. One click, they download immediately to all devices. Highly recommended.

Get the Paperwhite without the ads. Worth it, I tell ya.
