I missed the Bernard Lee one in the film?

I think his potrait wasn't in NTTD. I saw only potraits of Judi Dench and Robert Brown

Yes I agree, and I note it did appear in TWINE.

I have heard different versions of this. Some claim there was a Bernard Lee portrait somewhere, although I couldn't see one myself.

I may be getting my M's mixed up, but wasn't Lee prominently framed in the scene were Mallory gets new information from Tanner? Like, he sits straight in front of a portrait of Dench and then in their conversation there is a portrait of Lee next to him? Or was that Brown?

Not sure if it counts since it's not a Bond reference, but the prologue in the PTS is filled with nods to the original Halloween. Made it feel all the more appropriate that the film opened in October as opposed to April!

I think the fight between Bond and Logan Ash could be a callback or homage to the fight between Bond and Red Grant on the train in From Russia With Love.

I could see that: confined space, man disguising himself as an ally, incapacitated person in the room/next room.

I feel that Blofeld’s reappearance was meant to be a Silence of the Lambs homage. The music and the editing felt like Hannibal’s first appearance in the movie. My dad even mimicked Lecter’s tongue slurping!

    That was Brown

Was it just me, or did Leiter's fishing boat look strikingly similar to the one that sinks with the ATAK in FYEO? I am not sure if it was a deliberate homage, but it sure reminded me of FYEO.

SPOILERS in this article - but it is great! Mark Tildesley goes over many nods, call backs, whatever you come them. If you have SEEN NTTD, you may really enjoy this.
(was it posted here already? I did not check) .....

I have a question: did Michael G. Wilson appeared in NTTD in a cameo role as usual?

In Die Another Day, Frost complains that Bond is a double-O and she shouldn’t be with him, he replies “It’s just a number” :)

Yes I think he looks straight at the camera: when we are looking from Bond’s POV as he and Paloma are walking around the meeting talking on the radio.

Just like in FYEO, he gets attacked by Blofeld and his people after visiting the grave of an old lover in the PTS.

Bond still has his gunshot scars from Skyfall.
  • There are a lot of obvious references in NTTD (OHMSS, TLD), however there are a lot of seriously deep-cut/superfan references. Which you have to appreciate. Despite being made by such a young director, there is a lot of nostalgia. I suspect as the film is designed as a culmination picture. It's literally meant to end a story that started with CR. So naturally there are tons of references to Craig's run. I jotted down a few other references I noticed...
    • Whilst driving in Norway, Nomi is talking to M about Ash and says "Capture and kill."
    • Nomi picking up Bond in Norway reminded me of Camile picking Bond up in her car.
    • Which is the same thing M says to Bond in QOS.
    • The whole opening in Jamaica - where Nomi and Leiter are tailing Bond felt like something from a Connery film.
    • Vesper's theme used in PTS (love that)
    • Safin has a famous painting in his lair. Much like Dr No.
    • When Bond gets on the lifeboat in Cuba, I immediately was reminded of those classic moments in TSWLM in Egypt or the end of DN. The most obvious visual callback was TB and YOLT.....Didn't Austin Powers also riff on the Bond films always ending with a scene on a boat.

Does he work for Spectre? And if so, does he die with the others? Did they really kill off Michael G. Wilson after so many films?

Well, I guess they can always bring him back in a new continuity, without the baggage he has accumulated over the years. Michael G. Wilson will return.

I can't wait to see a remake of Diamonds Are Forever in this new continuity.

In Bond 26, 007 must face not one, but two incredible powerful adversaries when brothers Gregg Wilson and David G Wilson unite to reform SPECTRE in an effort to avenge their father.

The shot of the helicopter appearing in the Norway chase looked strikingly similar to the shot of Silva's helicopter arriving at Skyfall right before firing down at the manor.
