Actually this has made me think, who do people think is the most handsome male of the franchise overall? Including every single character thats appeared.

I think Jack Lord takes that title for me. He was the only Felix who was arguably more attractive than the James Bond he starred opposite.

Good choice, I can deffo see that. It's a shame we only got one film with Jack Lord.

I think Robert Shaw would be high on the list too.

Robert Shaw certainly isn't a bad call either - although I always thought the blonde hair did him a disservice looks-wise, even if it was very fitting for the character. He was in fantastic shape, as well.

Oh really? Speaking of henchmen actually, I thought Primo was quite handsome. I've always really loved this shot of him. The glasses, the hair, the suit, the aesthetic *chefs kiss*

I find David Hedison fairly attractive - and just look at him in his youth!

While I'm inclined to agree because I find him a hottie... he was so different back then. For me he's really grown into his looks with age. He's definitely in my current top 10.

I know a few people who think primo is attractive but he's not for me. Malek has quite a few admirers as well, but again, absolutely not for me. Too weird looking... but some women love that... kind of how benedict cumberbatch has a following too.

Surely though a tall blonde athletic fellow like Andreas Wisniewski would stand a chance? I’ll have to ask my better half about this to be sure though :))

The answer to the original question is Lazenby. No other Bonds were models to my knowledge.

So if you put it this way he’s automatically the worst at acting since he was no actor. Nah…

Connery is and probably will remain the ideal: tough-looking but handsome, a face with character (the sardonic arched eyebrow, the wide cruel mouth) that projected charm and charisma. He looked like a man who had been a warrior and leader of men in a past life.

A friend of mine uncharitably compared Lazenby's looks to Prince Charles's. That's going too far, but they do share large ears. His knobby features added character to his face and save it from the blandness of most models.

Moore's face projected great amounts of charm, warmth and even breeding (belying his modest origins as the son of a policeman), but without the edge of menace that Bond should have.

Dalton had the most classical good looks and bore the face of a Byronic hero (which Kingsley Amis once compared Bond to) and unsurprisingly has played characters like Heathcliff, Prince Rupert, Rochester, and Mark Antony.

Brosnan was a case of perhaps being too pretty and fresh-faced to project the slight edge of menace that Bond needs. It's not surprising that he looked more convincing after he'd aged in the role and put on a few more pounds.

Craig is the complete opposite of Brosnan: tough rather than pretty, granite instead of marble. He would have been masculine to the point of thuggishness if not for his eyes, which conveyed a note of spirituality and inner life.

@Revelator ... Although I don't agree exactly, I still agree with this most thoughtful post.

    Obviously she has great taste....😁

It's funny, from my personal experience (and it is what it is) women in general find Craig far more attractive than men. Which makes me think: 1)we underestimate masculinity when it's time to establish attractiveness and 2)men are poor at assessing women's tastes.

Such a subjective topic. As a lassy it's got to be Craig or Connery in the role. They both exude such undeniable manliness about them. They're both handsome though Craig's are non-traditional. That's all made up for in the way he carries himself in the role, kind of like his Bond knows it and doesn't care. Craig is very Steve McQueen, he probably idolises him. Anyway, the point is, it's devastating what confidence can do.

If we go purely aesthetically then Brosnan's Bond is very attractive but for me I prefer him now as a silver fox. He's a bit too pretty otherwise and in the role I felt he lacked the swagger. After that it would be Dalton, then Connery, Craig, Lazenby, Moore.
One of the reasons women often fancy married men - those often are more confident of themselves not having to look for a partner.

And I think you can see that with Brosnan best. Beeing Bond was maybe a bit too much on his shoulders. He's way more cool in the Thomas crown affair, and in more recent films he rocks as well.

Connery was a model. In fact, an art studio model, I recall, vaguely. He had a number of jobs.

By the way, Barry Nelson is not even included in the polling ?!!? Nor are Woody Allen, Peter Sellers and more, from Casino Royale 1967, including the very handsome David Niven and Terence Cooper.

I find Dalton more charismatic outside the Bond franchise. Maybe for the same reason.

One may argue that Brosnan's Thomas Crown Affair was better than any Brosnan Bond film. He was accompanied by a lady lead who is smart, capable and mature, while also extremely lovely, beautiful and attractive in appearance and character. There is no villain, per se, but the threats to Crown's enjoyable existence are the lady lead and an intelligent pair of police detectives, one of whom also explains clearly his genuine feelings about the case. No dummies. No groaner double-entendre. Great cars. Great settings. There was suspense, even though the audience knows he won't get killed or caught. It's a shame the producers did not consider it informative in how to make a Brosnan Bond a better film. Two of his Bond films came after The Thomas Crown Affair. One might make similar observations re: The Tailor of Panama (which preceded his final Bond) or The Matador, though - I confess with shame - I've not yet seen either.

The Tailor of Panama is quite good.

Brosnan, oddly, does better when he is not carrying all of the expectations of Bond.

The tca is one of my all time favorite films, for exactly those reasons. Brosnan really shines too. Ttop is an excellent film too.

In the case of The Tailor of Panama he even plays the anti-Bond.

women in general find Craig far more attractive than men; men are poor at assessing women's tastes.

This is true. Look at Pete Davidson. A lot of men say he's ugly, but a lot of women find him sexy; he's constantly dating models and superstars.

The people who think Craig is ugly are putting a lot of stock into facial structure (i.e. nose, ears). But eyes and hair are 2 of the most attractive things about people and Craig is beautiful in both regards. Also, his body <3.

Good points. Also there's a level of projection in men's assessments, at least straight men's: we use criteria we'd use to evaluate female beauty.

Connery in Dr.No is by far the best looking and most handsome Bond has ever looked on screen. Classic good looks with refined charm and sophistication but not effeminately pretty and just generally a badass supercool, super suave man. His opening scenes in the casino is off the charts in suave masculinity that has NEVER been equalled let alone surpassed.

Connery may have been, in his prime, the most handsome man that ever lived. Heck he was probably the most handsome old man at a certain age.
