    Long ago I rented it. It's probably been 25 years. My Dad had a friend who owned a video store specializing in horror/cult and noir and that was one of the films I got there.

    I love the score.

    The music is pretty much continuous throughout. Works well here, but not as iconic as say, Franz Waxman's score for BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

    Around the time of this film, there was a great short clip of Bela and Boris playing chess to see who would lead a in Hollywood parade.

    This one is easily my favorite Lugosi/Karloff pairing.

    I can watch THE BLACK CAT multiple times per year and not get bored.

    THE BODY SNATCHER is great as well. AN RKO horror classic, and the final pairing of Bela and Boris.

    I saw the 1931 version of Dracula for the first time last October. Absolutely loved it. Always been a fan of the vampire genre. Except for Twilight lol

    Me, too. I love Universal as well as Hammer Horror. I may pop one in tonight and comment on it.

    Right now I think it's time for some Bogie.

    Directed by John Huston. He did so many classics in his lifetime.

    In honor of the fact I watched AVTAK yesterday, here's some more San Francisco.

    Some day I should visit that city. Arguably the definitive city for film noir.

    Bogie rolls his own cigarettes. Pierce did that on Remington Steele, when he tried his best Bogie impression.

    Bogie's partner Miles Archer is kind of a dork. Perfect target for him to get killed early on. I had a friend whose' business partner was named Miles. He was an aggressive sort who I imagine might get his a$$ kicked if he ever opened his mouth to the wrong person.

    Bogie's Miles, however gets shot.

    I wonder if Huston placed that in the background to needle Bogie?
