He also sits in both TND and TWINE. I've rewatched both of these a couple times over the last few weeks and I'm still nowhere closer to having an idea. Tough round!

oh yes there is actually a very obvious chair in TWINE :-)
  • Not that

    @Birdleson

    I count on you :-)

maybe there is a particular line missing in the two films or it has something to do with clothes...

Time until Bond is changing a piece of clothing on screen?

    I think you're correct.
  • Not that I'm afraid

I don't think I'm any closer to the answer, but does it have something to do with weapon usage? I know that's incredibly vague, but it just clicked that in both TND and TWINE, Bond dual-wields guns (the MP5 and suppressed P99 during the TND finale, and the suppressed P99 and another pistol during the silo sequence in TWINE). After all these months, that's the one thing I've come up with that pertains to only those two, and no others.
  • Creative thought—and you're right, TND and TWINE might be the only two films where Bond wields dual weapons (not positive about TWINE though)—but that's not it.

Damn! I knew it was a stretch, but I felt proud enough that I finally found something unique solely about those two, so figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Back to the drawing board.
  • It was a good idea!
  • Just reminding that this still exists.

Well I guess the time has come that we need some help.

Or @birdleson to you have any idea?

Then I would say: @Some_Kind_Of_Hero please provide us with some kind of clue.

Yes this has been in the back of my mind but i have nothing to offer, so a clue would be good at this point.
  • Okay, if there's a consensus among those interested, I'll compile all the hints so far and also come up with a new hint.

I'd say it's about clue time, it's been several months and I've had one remotely confident guess in that entire span of time.
  • Okay, as there are no objections to a new clue...

    Here's what's been said already:

It's something that occurs onscreen in every film but TND and TWINE—an action or event.

I originally, mistakenly, had Goldfinger 5 places higher than it should be. Of course, there’s a reason why.

It’s not something obscure or super specific.

New hint: the criteria category these films are ranked by is “length of time until,” meaning it’s something that happens toward the beginning of the film in SF and later on in the film in SP and accordingly so with everything in between (and of course something that doesn't happen at all in TND and TWINE).

That should be a good clue to work from for a while.

    Greatest to least:

    1. Spectre
    2. Casino Royale
    3. From Russia With Love
    4. Dr. No
    5. Licence to Kill
    6. The Living Daylights
    7. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    8. Live and Let Die
    9. For Your Eyes Only
    10. Quantum of Solace
    11. Moonraker
    12. GoldenEye
    13. A View to a Kill
    14. The Man with the Golden Gun
    15. The Spy Who Loved Me
    16. You Only Live Twice
    17. Octopussy
    18. Diamonds Are Forever
    19. Die Another Day
    20. Thunderball
    21. Goldfinger
    22. Skyfall

    Thanks @Some_Kind_Of_Hero

So we are all going to watch Skyfall again, in order to see what happens in the beginning. I did so a few weeks ago but couldn't find anything. Will have to repeat that.

Time until we see a train on screen. It is probably wrong but at least fits a bit to the ranking.
  • Not time until a train

I thought the reason you had Goldfinger wrongly placed might be because you'd overlooked something seen in the opening credits.

So I just watched those credits to identify anything that doesn't appear or happen in TND or TWINE... and came up totally blank.

    Grrr!

I did the same and I noticed the footage of the train from FRWL in the GF titles....
