Dr. no being 4th highest in the list is also curious, since it's a short film and yet this still happens after more time has elapsed than in most other films.

    Hmmmmm!

Did this post right before you solved it help at all? I should have thought harder about it!

But what was it that GF was initially lower on the list, @Some_Kind_Of_Hero. It meant that you did not have the Oddjob KO. scene in mind, right?

Congratulations to the both of you, indeed - that round had me stumped for months, don't think I would've arrived at that answer for a long while.
  • Thanks everybody. More than anything I was intrigued by the realization that TND and TWINE are the only two films where Bond isn't knocked unconscious and wondered how many other people knew this as well. It was definitely a fun game to run.

Yeah, I just completely blanked on that scene and clocked Goldfinger where Bond crashes the Aston Martin. Figured that might help someone realize that it's something that happens multiple times in Goldfinger though.

That round lasted over four months.

Almost! Technically the round spanned 5 calendar months, but I started it some time in the latter half of December and we finished a day into April so somewhere between 3 and 4 months in all. We'll see how long that record stands. ;)

You've inadvertently contributed to my thread on the unique qualities of only two Bond films.

TND and TWINE - Bond remains conscious!

Glad to hear it. I don't believe I've seen this thread. Perhaps you could bump it/update it?

You've just given me a reason to watch the 1954 Casino Royale for the first time ;) (and probably revisit the 1967 one, if I dare... :-SS)

    I like this set-up, though.

Oh I see Jack Wade turns up again.... in TND and DN simply cannot have a returning character :-)

The Trivia questions thread has already become mostly 'What do these films have in common?' which personally I find rather tedious.

Can we keep this to the original plan of a list of the films in a particular order?

I think we should not regulate it too much... we can certainly take the ranking as the normal procedure but exemptions should be possible...

hmmm, it is really difficult, however, I actually thought the clues would lead me to the conclusion... but I still have not a good idea... but it have something to do with certain characters or actors ...

    Maybe another guess:

None of them have a British or American character who survives...
  • I've been mulling things over in my head. Ruled out a number of possibilities already. I'm working on getting my hands on a copy of Casino Royale '54 and '67. I think watching those will make it click. By the way, the second two Casino Royale's in your list—which is '54 and which is '06? (Though I'm sure that won't make a world of a difference.)

Wow congrats to @some_kind_of_hero on a wonderful round and to @birdleson for solving it.

    Thank you, @TR007.
  • Not boring, just haven't landed on any ideas that check out with those four exclusions yet. My plan is to watch CR '54 and '67 this weekend, so hopefully that'll make it click.

Thanks, that you mentioned Messervy and Boothroyd rather than M and Q put me on the right track.

OK, in which order are the films below? Fairly easy one, I think.

    CR67
    AVTAK
    OP
    YOLT
    LTK
    LALD
    FYEO
    MR
    TLD
    TSWLM
    GF
    DN
    NSNA
    FRWL
    CR54
    SF/SP
    QOS
    CR
    GE
    TWINE
    DAD
    TB
    TND
    DAF/TMWTGG
    OHMSS
  • Good work, @Thunderfinger! My mind definitely wasn't heading in that direction!

For your next clue, is TMWTGG left out intentionally?

(And great idea for a round, @Birdleson! I never knew that about Fleming and Fatima. Makes me appreciate NSNA that much more—and also makes TB with its inclusion of Fiona feel that much truer to Fleming.)

Oops, thanks. No, TMWTGG was unintentionally left out. Fixing it.

Which direction is the list meant to go? i.e CR 67 first or OHMSS first?

My guess: something to do with the directors.

CR67 first. And it has nothing to do with the directors.
