The Voodoo finale! Not the best climax to be honest, but we do have a last kick to look forward to!

Rog looks great in his black outfit and brown shoulder holster! When LALD had its T.V. premiere. A magazine called 'Look-in' had pics of Rog in this gear to whet our appetites for the film. The 'Sideshow' figure I have of Roger quite rightly chose this outfit to depict him in!

The fight with Baron Samedi is too brief!

The filmmakers were intending to do the Keelhauling sequence from the book, but they couldn't figure out how to do it. By FYEO, they had worked it out to great effect!

Most T.V. showings edited out Kananga slicing Bonds arm, cant remember if the first showing kept it in!

I cant believe anyone thought Kanangas inflated death looked convincing! Would have been better to let the sharks kill him!
    Worst Bond villain demise!

I loved this trend of villain or henchman turning up for a final attempt to kill Bond! This is a great one with TeeHee

Final shot of Baron Samedi is cool!
Great viewing of LALD, terrific debut for Roger!

As a footnote, watched a lost documentary behind the scenes on LALD on this bluray disc. Very enjoyable, with cast and crew interviewed. No sign of Cubby, but Harry is very prevalent!
  • QBranchQBranch Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

Great entry, LALD. One of my fave Roger films. I think it was the first Roger one I owned on VHS, early into my collecting.

Wasn't the boat chase the first thing they filmed? I recall Roger was sick, having kidney stones or similar.

One of my absolute favourite Bond soundtracks.

Best ensemble of villains in the series. DN being close behind.

What is the table top game they're playing in the (Harlem) Fillet of Soul?

Roger dispatches one of the alleyway thugs with the classic stuntman ankle kick, similar to in his fight with Sandor later on.

We see two different model 'Genuine Felix' car lighters there I believe.

I miss the bug searching in hotel rooms.

I have the same bath mat as what the snake is creeping across. I owned it for a decade before realizing.

I think we see nudey pin ups in one of the submarines or the Wavekrest vessel.

Love seeing Roger with the cigars. He never smoked a regular cigarette on screen but he carried a couple ciggie cases in other films, as well as lighters without a cigar.

The guy beside the pool when the boats slide over the lawn is quite fittingly reading a magazine on black movies, with Shaft on the cover.

Agreed about the look of Bond's black sweater with holster over top, and how he surveys the area from behind the tombstone. The nickel revolver is a rather unique sidearm for Bond. I like to see him equipped with other handguns besides the PPK.

Love a bit of supernatural finding its way into these films.

I would say LALD and LTK have the best set of villains!

My first Bond for 2023 needs to be a great one. Otherwise, it will Jinx the year and Eon will announce that B26 has been permanently cancelled.....or EVEN WORSE........that Shia LeBouff has been cast as the new Bond.

We can't let that happen...........so I'm going to start the new year with
    FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.

Great PTS. Connery looks amazing in this one.
    Wonderful Barry score.

Tatiana is pressured to take a new job. Quite a promotion, considering how many people must draw unemployment.

    Always liked Sylvia Trench.

Connery has the greatest facial expressions of all time during the M sequence.

Boothroyd gives 007, what remains to this day, my favorite gadget........the attache case.
As a kid I was obsessed with this gadget. When I was in elementary school, we had Trapper Keeper notebooks, which I pretended was my attache case. They didn't come in black during those days, often in bright vibrant colors.
So by 5th grade I upgraded to a leather folder that came with a calculator. That became my new Bond briefcase.
I actually saved up my allowance and bought a real attache case. It was burgundy like Roger's in the PTS of OCTOPUSSY. Instead of gold combination lock latches, this attache case had black ones, which I adjusted so that 007 would be the code to unlock the case.
I had a toy folding rifle kit that I put in the case, a watch and some other stuff.......toy grenade, rubber knife etc.
Gave it to my best friend years ago. He still has it.

Bond thinks his hotel suite sucks.
I love how the Bond theme plays full blast during this sequence. A bit unneccesary, kind of funny, and I love it all the more.
    That bed IS too small.
He should've rejected this crummy room instantly and saved himself some hassle.

Nadja Regin wants to get down with Kerim. This scene is pretty funny. Kerim is without hesitation, my favorite Bond ally (who is not Felix).

The ABC network used to remove the entire gypsy camp section of this movie.
When my folks bought a VHS player back in the 80's I finally got to see this scene.
I remember we had a friend over and we watched this with NSNA.
Two Connery Bonds 20 years apart.
That was a fun movie night.

So there's this hilarious rumor that Aaron Taylor whatever his name is did a screen test for Bond.
If this were true, I wonder if he did the Tatiana bedroom scene?
I also wonder if he wore that ridiculous long hair and pornstache during his screentest?

My dear James......you are not using this.
    Love Kerim. He's the greatest.
Every scene with Kerim is a delight.
All? Are you sure that's all you want?
