The endings of the old Bond films were just so damned perfect. LOVE IT!

Must be a fun group watch there. FRWL is of course one of the best Bond films.

Try to start one some time. It usually has to be within a few hours notice.

Perhaps there would be some interest in a group OHMSS viewing for December?

That would be a fun time. Hopefully we can make a time work for us a few of our members here.

Absolutely, was good to watch in a group - even though I had to disappear half way through. The hours for me tend not to line up with the European Timezone (unless they're watching in the morning). But west coast U.S seems to suit and of course across the Tasman in Australia would be ideal.

On this Thanksgiving Day I'm feeling thankful and seasonal................
    so I'm watching

    OM HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE
    yet again.

Bond just bailed Tracy out. I must say that's one of my favorite casino sequences in the series.

I love Hunts fade to the Casino letters in the pool,, and Lazenbys entrance. A really great sequence well written. Rigg is marvellous.

Didn't get to comment much yesterday during my Bond viewing- so here we go again this time with my main man, Sean in

    YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE

Great PTS to me. John Barry makes it so.
Controversial opinion: the outer space scenes here are far more convincing that anything done in today's CGI cinematic world.

Long live the fine art of the miniature.

    Hey, it's John Drake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy's hairstyle reminds me of Patrick McGoohan.

Sean is great here. We've HAD some interesting times together Ling.

Another controversial opinion I should copy/paste over onto the other thread:

I'll take un-enthused, getting bored- Sean over super excited, happy to be Bond -Pierce (and Craig) any day.

I actually don't blame Sean for losing his enthusiasm in a way. The lack of privacy on this film would have pushed anyone over the edge. I remember an interview where Sean mentioned reporters following him into the can asking questions and what not.
Great footage of Cubby telling off the press while Sean retreats to his room for a little lunch.

Moneypenny looks wonderful here. I love Lois.

I must say though, the color timing on the Blu-ray leaves much to be desired. I've seen this one on the big screen in 35mm a few times and the Lowery restoration just doesn't have that rich Technicolor look the other Connery films have. Picture is pin sharp and bright, though.

    I LOVE YOU

    I love Aki, too.

Well I think it's about hotel time.

    Great Barry music here.

Bond removes his shoes. Bond can slip in and out of them with no trouble. Fleming's Bond hated laces.

After having watched SP recently I noticed Christoph Waltz's haircut similar to Charles Gray's here.
That Bond film really grew on me recently. Score not withstanding.

Bond puts on a Stacy Keach Mike Hammer style trench-coat. Damn Connery looks good there.

This is one of a handful of Bond films I enjoys mostly for the spectacle, and music. The plot and story line aren't as important to me here. Occasionally I prefer a Bond film in that style. LALD is another example. Very simple plot, mostly written around the set pieces and chases with great characters woven in.
I think when the writers obsess too much over story-line and emotion we get situations like brother gate. Pity SP didn't have a score this high of caliber to at least help.

That said I find the Aki death later in the film just as moving than anything in the Craig films: including Vesper and M's deaths.

The score and Connery's subtle performance does the job perfectly, and this particular Bond film isn't exactly an emotionally driven story.

It's certainly more effective than.....DELLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, which is hampered by an odd music cue.

    007 has a bath........

    and a massage.

We need more scenes like this in Bond.

I love Helga Brandt. I think I like her just as much as Fiona.

Connery in these scenes emulate's Fleming's Bond quite well. Single breasted navy blue suit, the right haircut- even a slight lock above the eyebrow. In addition he's looking more world weary here.

    Kobe Docks!

This is one of my favorite scenes in the series. Bond is using something other than his Walther here.

Bond is kicking everyone's a$$es................and he gets knocked out.

We really need more scenes in which Bond is knocked out.

Has Craig had any scenes like that? I suppose the Aston Martin barrel roll moment kind of counts.

    The Helga seduction scene.

    Connery is the man.

We do need more scenes like that.

Craig gets knocked out in Spectre, in Blofeld's control room.

    Time for another 5th outing:

    FOR YOUR EYES ONLY

Both Connery and Moore's 5th outings had four word titles. Would it be too much to ask the same for Daniel's 5th?

Blofeld goes down the smoke stack. Does anybody prefer John Hollis' Blofeld here to Waltz?

I think I need a gif here of that guy in SUPERTROOPERS saying "I do!!!"

This is one of my favorite Roger's.

I think we need to keep the 5th outing tradition of a nice ballad for the theme song for Daniel's next film.

The film proper- St George's sinking section. I find this better paced than TND's equivalent. Aside from that outstanding cameo by Mickey G, it seems like years before we see Bond again. Here we have some nice footage of Melina to keep us entertained, and it's always cool to see Gogol hanging out in his office.

In between jobs. Translation: Melina is currently unemployed and hitting her folks up for some work.

Oops change of plan- time to avenge the parents.

The M scene minus M. Controversial opinion: I prefer Edward Fox's obnoxious M to this variation of Tanner.

Great lyrics here....if you ease it in.................ooh ooh ooh can you feel it moving smooth and slow.................

One of my favorite "Bond, James Bond" readings here. Roger looks quite smug there. Great scene.

My viewing was delayed, much like every new Bond film in this day and age so I'm picking up at the rock climbing sequence.

I like Roger's climbing outfit. That thick gray sweater and blue vest is very autumn.
The ATAC doesn't look as high tech today as it once did. Or did it ever?
Kristatos seems like a regular guy rather than a Bond villain. He reminds me of someone who would be the new hiring manager at an office job. Someone no employee likes unless they're kissing up to him.
Whereas someone like Zorin would be the kind of employer that might be fun to work for as crazy as he is.

It's a pity Conti never returned to Bond. He might have done GE justice.

Here is he comedic ending. I never cared for this particular Seiko. Roger had much cooler Seiko's in the other films, IMO. The OP Seiko was my favorite. A classic Roger watch.

So ends FYEO. A solid, though interrupted viewing.

    Titles....superb. Style all the way.

IMO had we not had Maurice Binder, John Barry to whip Monty Norman's Bond Theme into shape, Connery and especially Terence Young , this might have been the only Bond film. There are so many ways in which Bond put on the bug screen could have gone wrong.

    Strangway's secretary....very nice indeed.

Here it is........the iconic casino scene. I can attest the audience cheered at that first shot of Connery saying the line....at least every time I've seen this film on the big screen.

Bond goes to the office at 3 am.

Moneypenny is still at work that late as is M. None of them look remotely tired.

After a long decision process I recently switched to graveyard shift. Gives me every weekend off rather than alternating weekends, and it's quiet and less stress. Also I always had a thing about staying up all night when I was a kid.

Every time it gets to 3 am I think of Bond, M and Moneypenny still at work that time of morning.

Bond goes back home to his flat to pack, and he's interrupted. The shot of him kneeling as he opens the door is one of the first shots of Connery I remember from the ABC SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIE showings of this one.

Connery glares at Mr Jones...............then Felix opens the phone booth door, looks at his watch and then closes it.

My buddies and I always laughed at that shot of Leiter looking at his watch.

The Mr Jones scene is one of my favorite scenes in cinematic history. It's pretty funny.

I'm of the opinion that just about everybody has cool hair in this one: Bond, Mr Jones, Prof. Dent, Strangways, Felix, etc. I love that 1962 style.

Bond fans himself with his hat. I used to do that, too. I should find a trilby just for the purpose of fanning myself with it when it's hot.

Bond buttons both buttons on his jacket. Sean didn't know better and Terence probably didn't notice to correct him.

Bond takes a bath in the middle of the day. He probably has rubber duckie toys and sings while he scrubs.

He then effs up his shoulder holster as he puts it on, twisting the elastic.

    Bond doesn't care.

What a great year, 1962. Wish I had been there.

    Quarrel gives Bond sh!t. LOL.

"I like people who's friends with people."

He would probably have a huge Facebook friends list today, then.

Bond's all time favorite song is playing on the radio as sung by the man himself, Monty Norman.

I picture the food at Pussfeller's being amazing.

Jack Lord is the king of cool.

I love the little push he gives Bond.

He's probably tied with Hedison as my favorite Felix, though I love Bernie Casey.

    Jump up jump up!!!!!

My favorite song of all time.

RIP Count Prince Miller. He passed away this August. Did anyone post that on the RIP thread for Bond family members?

I also love Margaret Le Wars here. One of my favorite Bond girls.

I say that about almost every Bond girl.
