    Because like the Dark Knigh trilogy, keep the DC run as Bond its own story of the franchise

    Mendes can do another.....

    IF

    -he hires Alexandre Desplat or David Arnold for the score
    -Bond 25 will NOTHING be like SF.
    -Ben Whishaw has at least as much screen time as in Spectre.
    -his condition for coming back is getting a bunch of new writers, or a new writer.
    -the movie gets made for a 2018 release.
    -proper GB, shaken not stirred, Bond James Bond.

    All of the man's creative juices have been completely used up over the course of two films. I respect and enjoy what he brought to the table, but the series will be much better off hiring fresh creative blood.

    Couldn't agree more. He's done all he can and somebody else should bookend the Craig era. Campbell would be great but I doubt he will do it.

    I'm not certain Campbell has another one in him, but it would be ideal to get him back for another solid entry. Denis Villeneuve is another great option, but he appears to have a jam packed schedule over the next couple of years.

    Maybe it's because I've just had a kid, but I can't subscribe to this negative hysteria. I think some of you need to get a bit of perspective.

    My perspective is fine. It's mine. I'll warm up to SP again when on blu ray.

    Besides it's not hysteria... it's disappointment in people who should have done better. It's disappointment in the owners of the films willing to ignore Fleming and recreate Blofeld ...and that's after their history of saying when in doubt go back to Fleming.

    I don't trust them anymore.

    I must have manic when I wrote this ...it's not that I don't trust them it's just I didn't like how they handled getting SPECTRE back on the screen.

    But I'm a life long fan.. I have a right to voice my dissension now and then.

    I've never heard the origins of the Bond series dated to four years prior to the Norman Conquest before...

    To answer the thread question I'd say no. I'd like a new voice - Mendes is a fine director - American Beauty and Revolutionary Road prove that. But those are from accomplished screenwriters or source novels. If he had Casino Royale's script he would have knocked that out of the park too. I don't mind Mendes returning - but I'd be a lot more excited for a story generated by an accomplished novelist (maybe taking inspiration from unused parts of Fleming - especially in MR, DAF and YOLT) and then put in to script form by a screenwriter with a level of high quality thrillers to their name (such as Christopher McQuarrie.) With the production team and Craig and half the cast of SP returning (probably including Waltz) they need to find a fresh angle from somewhere - script/director has to be the place.

    Mendes would not have improved on Campbell's CR. No chance......he didn't initially approve of DC as Bond!

    Just kidding, I'd prefer Mendes to NOT come back. However, if a new film were announced soon and it turned out he was directing , I'd probably just be happy that a new film was actually underway more than anything.
