Hoping for some kind of good Bond 25 news tomorrow for Global James Bond Day, but I doubt it will happen. Seems too early.

Have they ever announced/released anything on that day since the 50th?

  • Thanks guys. Think it's a bit optimistic to expect anything to do with Bond 25 from it now then with it still being so far away. Might get something next year when they're properly trying to promote it.

If we get any formal announcement between now and March, I fear it'll be bad news.

I just hope we get a decent none belly-button staring story story that resembles a thriller at least, and if they can fit in amazing cars or whatnot I am fine with it. The 20 million car chase in Rome was such a waste of money and viewing-time the fellas who used to make a great British car-show would have made it more exciting and less expensive.

One of the biggest let downs for me in SPECTRE was the car chase sequence. So much wasted potential.

I'd say that for the entire film. I've long argued that my problem with SP isn't that it's bad, but that it could have been so much better.

Unprecedented talent both sides of the camera, unlimited budget, massive amounts of goodwill after SF . . . SP could have been a lot better than it was.

One wonders what EON take from that. All in the last 2 movies have made 2 billion, so they might be thinking nothing much needs to change.

But they may look, for instance, at the cash sunk into that underwhelming Rome car chase and think . . . could we do better?

Don't trash the Aston this time around, for one.

I want a flashback to Bonds childhood. Howls of derision will no doubt follow.

If Aston is indeed represented that doesn't exclude Lotus, though. In fact, how fun would it be to have a DB go up against a Lotus a la DAD? Battle of the Bond cars! Winner gets to be in Bond 26!

The 007 twitter account seems to be promoting this Global James Bond Day more than others. Perhaps EON does have something up their sleeve? I'd love to hear a title, an early teaser poster, or maybe a confirmed cast member to celebrate the day!

Title announcement would be awesome. I’m not super hopeful, but there’s a chance I guess. As always: hope for the best, expect the worst.

If the past three productions are anything to go by, the title won't be announced till the press conference.

The new director is a former professional snowboarder... you have to assume he understands the difference between visceral excitement in a chase and just passive spectacle.

Unless he listens to California Girls while boarding...

I'd love to see a video of any SF/SP scene with "California Girls" instead of the Newman score! :-D

I hate to speculate, but I hope the days of flying/diving/invisible cars are over.
After seeing that Beautiful Image, I agree that cars shouldn´t fly OR dive OR be invisible, but all at once!

    Ok, Scratch being invisible.

In 5 months production starts that is kind of cool

A "5 months until production and all is well" sign would suffice at this point ;)

Then again, maybe nothing would suffice ;) Isn't that closer to the motto.

Danny Boyle announces his new Armistice project today and refused to speak about Bond: “We’re talking about real heroes today rather than fictional ones.”

I wouldn't want that guy near a Bond film, ever. He's certainly one of those pseudo socialist fellas who thrives on informal social movements for the communities but doesn't give a rat's arse about leaving an entire film crew unemployed for a year. He's clearly an intelligent and proficient fella, but not suited to the glamour Bond needs. Some people on the feed are calling him a virtue signaller and a lollygagger - first time I'v heard these, as I'm not british. I'm not a conservative nor a liberal, I'm an analyst, and these social types with their fighting views and lobbies are just as bad as the right wing types, with their garrote agendas. Now, give us a true artist behind the wheel and we'll be fine. Fukunaga, Mr. Boyle.

That's all, sorry for the rambling ;)

He seems bitter now about the Bond experience,i would love to know what happened.
  • I do have to agree that Boyle is somewhat hypocritical. He has a very liberal agenda but he walked away from Bond 25 and potentially left many 1000s of people without jobs. Not all those individuals were corporate sorts looking for big sponsorship paydays. Many of the crew are the typical blue-collar sorts he works to promote. He was critised this summer for hiring extras for free and the treatment of the Slumdog kids and the general portrayal of India in that film are all worrying.

However, if his artistic vision wasn’t syncing up with Eon, he shouldn’t have been forced to continue something he had no investment in. Plus, we got Cary Fukunaga who is nothing if not an upgrade. I just watched ‘Sin Nombre’ which is a terrific film. Anyone seen it? I wrote a review here:
