Anyway... I feel like the upcoming film Bullet Train could be a good "Layer Cake" for Aaron Taylor-Johnson. A lot of the online talk about that film, from what I've seen myself, has been about him.

I feel it's going to be Dunkirk. Don't know who in Dunkirk, but one of the actors in it.

    I agree.

Fionn wouldn’t be shabby at all, Tom Glynn-Carney is another one.

Next James Bond movie is two years away as producer reveals 007 is being "reinvented"
There's currently "nobody in the running" to play Bond after Daniel Craig, says Barbara Broccoli

With the announcement that Bond 26 is potentially 2+ years away from filming, I wonder if most of our picks will be quickly outdated? I mean, ultimately it depends on the direction they want to go in, but it would make sense that they'd want to go with a younger Bond just to ensure they have someone for at least 10 years.

So someone like Aidan Turner would be pushing 40 by this time frame. As would Henry Cavill. Same for a few of my picks. Assuming they'll be 'reinventing' Bond too, I'd say this suggests they may well be looking for someone 29-34 (I think the Producers understand that the 'Young Bond' concept doesn't really work). So potentially the next Bond will be in their late 20s as of now.

So yeah, the next Bond actor may well be someone a bit more obscure. Not unknown, but maybe less established than Craig, Dalton, Connery etc.

I think it has to be an actor we aren't aware of. There is nobody I'm aware of who I would like to play the part. Settling for Turner feels like settling for the best option out of a bad bunch. He's very lucky if he IS being considered

EoN/ Amazon would be lucky to have him, chap

I don’t understand your love for him. He does look like he could pull certain elements off but I just don’t see him as Bond. He doesn’t look particularly unique and isn’t exactly highly regarded as an actor, so I don’t see how Amazon would be lucky? I don’t mean to denigrate his talents- I’m an actor myself and he’s much more successful an actor than I am, right now!
I don’t dislike the guy, I just don’t find him to be an exciting choice.
As someone else on here has said, he does resemble an Italian waiter. He also reminds me of the guy Bond batters in the toilets at the start of Casino Royale.

An Italian waiter who could, hypothetically speaking, bang half of the global female population. Quite a feat for a 'waiter'. Your reply isn't very serious so I'll leave it that. Aidan Turner will be the next Bond. Don't believe it, all good.

I was serious! Didn't make any jokes did I?! There ARE some attractive waiters out there, no doubt about it.

Barbra Broccoli said "at least" two years from filming. At least two years could mean 3-4 years.

    At least.

    Re-inventing.

    No script.

    It's going to be awhile.

Yep, I won't be holding my breath for announcements anytime soon. "At least" implies to me it'll be much longer than my hopeful estimates I mentioned. No matter, there are plenty of films, old and new, to enjoy in the meantime.

Horrible management by EoN et al. I don't care what anyone says. Primadonna Craig is already gone ages and they still need two years AT LEAST, from this point. At least. Bond is indeed dead. Not interested anymore quite frankly. What is there to reinvent anyway? Bond goes snowflake wokeflake? Go back to the source material, at least Cubby knew what was important. They could have done this AGES ago. Hey EoN sell the franchise to people who still have some fire and gusto in 'em, as this is preposterous.

Sort of expected them to take some time with Bond 26. I'd hoped they would have been planning during the covid delay but fair enough

Maybe they weren't sold on any of the current crop of candidates and felt it's better to hang fire

Wasn't it obvious they were going to take their time?
Especially with the ending in NTTD.
I think a couple of years to await events/ find the right actor/ get the tone right is very reasonable.
NTTD was released jn 2021..of course it will take 3/ 4 years to get the right actor and script in place.
Eon is not marvel with multiple characters to make movies every 6 months.

Marvel are also a studio with many different production teams working simultaneously on different products: Eon are a production company who have rarely made more than one thing at a time. As you say, it's been obvious for a while that we weren't getting a film next year, or even likely that we'd have a new Bond actor cast by the end of this one. It's been said in this thread many times.

    Late 2023 will be exciting!

How is "primadonna Craig" a point based on fact? Define the "snowflake" Bond and have it be based on fact.

The announcement doesn't really surprise me. It's going to take some hard thought to decide how to bring Bond back in a big way after NTTD.
The next film really should be a masterpiece akin to CASINO ROYALE.

I'm happy Barbara announced that, because it brings Bond 26 out of its limbo-like state. Plus, Bond 26 is very much likely going to be bigger in statement than TLD, GE & CR, because of the films that would be released between now and then. For example, once the Mission Impossible films come out, surely EON would want to make a statement and they will. So there's reason to be happy with Barbara's Bond 26 announcement.
