    My ranking is definitely changing more than I expected in my current Bondathon. I'll post the complete ranking once I'm finished, before and after Spectre.

    Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan are screwed in this poll. No TOP 10 for these actors :-). Three of Brosnan's outings can be found in the BOTTOM 10. So sad....

    That's not how the poll works actually. Voters simply need to push the "Higher" or "Lower"-button for each of the 23 films.

    I know i am one of the authors of people's pain with ranking AVTAK 5th place too and Thunderball 23, but iam curious who hate Goldeneye so much and who rank CR/Skyfall one place lower then me.

    It's outstanding to have this kind of data.

    I'm not surprised on the low sd's (either widely accepted relative 'PoS' films or bona fide classics).

    The only high sd that surprises me is TB. I did not realize it was so contoversial (I'm a big fan).

    Welcome! Admirable selection for your favorite. I have been contemplating Skyfall as my favorite film, but I always manage to see more depth in Casino Royale.

    Re: Thunderball — Not too big of a surprise for me because I can't maintain a constant opinion of it. Parts of it are fantastic and other parts sag. It has a good premise for a story, but at times the execution goes awry. One of the hardest films to rank IMO.

    Haha those two are quite extreme rankings. There's 13/174 people with GE in the bottom 6.

    Juraquagmire and MajorDSmythe have CR at 22nd

    Timmer, Perdogg and senthilvel have SF at 23rd

    There's only a few movies whose ranks are all over the places but I'd say TB divides opinion the most.

    And I've put it down to, you either love or hate the long underwater scenes.

    Personally after my recent Bondathon I have it at 19th unfortunately, and....it's the long underwater scenes. The rest of the movie is great and it's got the funniest lines in the series and a brilliant score.

    @Mansfield, I guess I've totally missed up to now that this one was a mixed bag for a lot of people. I've always just been blown away by Nassau, Connery, Paluzzi & Auger, as well as the amazing dialogue.

    @w2bond, thanks for pulling these stats together. They are really interesting to review.

    I realize that the underwater scenes drag on a bit,....it's true. As I said above, I've just always been so impressed with the rest of it that this part did not bother me so much, but I guess that's where the polarization comes in...I just didn't realize it was such a divisive film among the fanbase.

    It's great how you can be swept away by it. That's one of the highest conditions a film of any kind, but especially Bond, can do for us. Even though I have it in the middle of the pack, mirroring my uncertainty, the parts that it does amazingly well that you highlighted are engrossing. Though, Connery sometimes comes across as casual (maybe because he is so comfortable in the role at this point?).

    The best I can do is compare my thoughts of Thunderball with Dr. No since the pace of these two seem similar. From Russia With Love and Goldfinger follow a very specific pace and introduce us to the major players right out of the gate, which is a commonalty that I love about those two films. Dr. No and Thunderball introduce us to the plot slowly, giving them a mystery thriller kind of feel. I rank Dr. No so much higher than Thunderball because it never disengages in that strand, whereas Thunderball gets distracted with its own concept at times. It takes them a while to sink their teeth into the plot, where it moves at a fantastic pace, and then slows down again at the end. I don't mind the underwater scene in all its length nearly as much as the speed boat chase. That one sequence is more unwatchable for me than Die Another Day and Quantum Of Solace put together. Mercifully, it doesn't drag on for too long and Largo's death in itself is quite well done.

    True, Thunderball is one of those movies that can go up and down in rankings of people I guess for the reasons you mentioned.

    It has been in my Top 5 at one point imagine that and since Craig's run began has constantly fallen and is now at No 18.

    No worries, while I like reading people's opinions, it's good to get a summary of people's ranks.

    Before my Bondathon I hadn't watched Thunderball for a while and I had fond memories of the good bits and it ended up in the top 10, but after sitting through it that opinion changed rapidly. I guess you take a glass half full approach.

    He probably is and I love his performance here. Doesn't come across as ruthless and cold as the first 2 but a fun enjoyable performance

    TB is class and in my top 5......it has everything. Great director, star, score, location, villain, Bond girls, script....etc etc. GE is just average to me and will never be in my top 10 ever. CR is the best Bond film since the 60's for me.

    In my opinion there isn't enough love for DN on this site.
