    Wow I'm at work and something interesting happens in Bond world. Perhaps trains will play in the climax? a Train climax hopefully it's not to Mission Impossibleish

    The usual routine is do a bunch at the studio on the first sets, then shoot foreign locations, then return the studio (as new sets have been constructed whilst abroad). So I doubt the train sequence was going to shoot first in Oct/Nov.

    I feel like trains are overused in Bond movies since FRWL and i never felt that they were a big mode of transportation. But maybe thats just because I haven't been on one before :[

    Let's see ... trains appeared in FRWL, OP, GE and CR.

    To be fair, most of the scenes shot on trains in Bond films generally involve the interior of the train carraiges. However, talk of an action sequence implies that the interior and exterior may be used, and OP is the only film that really did that. GE had action scenes set outside a train, too, but they largely involved Bond shooting the train with a tank.

    I like to go into new Bond adventures blind rather than read about what's proposed to happen in future events, wait til the release date, go to the theater and just let everything fall as it may, some people prefer that

    I do hope, however that we get to see a Train or railroad incident, only Octopussy stands out from years back as any real tangible drama played out on screen.

    yeah, many times, thing is though that 1983 was more recent than '63, I remember clearly the train ride with the Octopussy circus at the time of release than the Connery trip.

    Got to give a shout out to the fight with Robert Shaw and Bond, it didn't last long but at the time was maybe the highlight for some that went to see the movie.

    must add that I've never heard the line 'crawl over here and kiss my foot' uttered again since the release. :-??

    Many are now reporting that filming has been "delayed again" until January - what next? It amazes me so many believe and fall for this twisted information.

    Indeed and not only that we've known for a while the Production crew will arrive in January.

    EDIT: Another car chase then, I sure hope this time it'll be good. Let's hope the train situation is sorted on Monday.

    I worry India, South Africa and China may be a bit much for one film. What a mish-mash of locations. What plot could on Earth send Bond there?

    And just for more action, are we still getting that Great Wall of China motorcycle chase?

    Bond sitting down to a Rajastani/Punjabi Feast would be feast would be awesome.

    With production set to start in November at Pinewood is there any date for the first day of filming set yet @JamesPage? The first Monday is the 7th, could it be then?

    This seems really cool at the moment. Love to see how they put the locations into practice. Ah... wow. And a car chase as well? This could be excellent. Wonder if they'll make it open-road, or in the busy street a la Octopussy?

    The other thing is the budget: $135m. That's less than Casino Royale. Lets hope its a "real", down to earth, yet escapist, adventure. :D

    You think three locations is a "bit much"? Look at CASINO ROYALE - it's a fantastic film, and it visits six locations (not counting Pakistan in the PTS, which is never mentioned by name), and some of them are a bit bizarre. Before CASINO ROYALE, I doubt we would have had much to connect Montengreo, the Bahamas and Madagascar.
    What plot could on Earth send Bond there?
    Straight off the top of my head?

    Bond is involved in breaking up a spy ring, like Anna Chapman and the Illegals Program, but with Chinese spies instead of Russian. The Chinese government agrees to a prisoner swap, with South Africa being chosen as a neutral location. Bond is sent to escort the spies to their Chinese handlers, whilst picking up the British agent incarcerated in China. He learns that the Chinese are running some kind of operation in India, which involves flooding the market with Burmese sapphires to drive the price down and weaken the regime in Rangoon, who rely on sapphire exports. This is part of a plan to drive a "dangerous criminal" out of hiding in Myanmar by putting pressure on the regime. In reality, this "dangerous criminal" is actually another British spy, one who escaped the Chinese years ago and has knoweldge of a plan by the Chinese government to do ... something.

    Train stunts. Car chases. Indian locations. Benny likes the sound of this. Reminds me of another Bond classic involving train stunts.
    I just hope that this action sequence is as good, nay great as the train stunts featured in Octopussy.
    Still it's got my interest in Bond 23 to 'excited' level. Which is a big boost from 'Meh' level.

    Dinesh Trivedi, the railway minister from Calcutta who confesses he is a Bond fan, will meet the team on Monday. "I received a request from the unit members today and have called them for a meeting on Monday. I will be pro-active to sort out the problem,” Trivedi told The Telegraph from New Delhi. "I’ll have to find out about the problems. It will be solved but I’ll ensure that passenger safety is not compromised,” he said. “We all love Bond movies and it’ll be good publicity for India and the Indian Railways," the minister added.

    A production member who wished to remain anonymous said, "The initial talks with the minister were satisfactory and he seemed keen to remove the bottlenecks. We expect [formal production planning] to get rolling by the middle of next week.". After Trivedi’s intervention, things looked positive, he admitted.

    They know how big production of a Bond film will be for the country and the region. They'll be very keen to make it happen. I've heard that OCTOPUSSY was shown nightly in Udaipur until 2001 (at least).

    IMO, that those stereotypes were the best part of OP. Those elements of the Vijay chase were just outrageously hilarious, and I would welcome them back with open arms. It would certainly give Craig the time to relax, smile, and enjoy himself and pop one liners, instead of looking dead serious the whole film.
    It sounds as if you are looking for a Rog Moore Bond film rather then a Dan Craig one and in that case you are going to be gravelly disapointed. If you accept the film for what it is, enjoy it for what it is you will get more out of it rather then moan that it isnt what you want.

    Ahmedabad? I have been to India and one of our workers called it "Ahmed is bad" and it is rather an industrial city. Which may be right for an action scene.

    Places like Jaipur, Jasialmer and Pushkar are more scenic though.

    It still is. It was certainly shown in the Ajmer cafe when I was in Udaipur. The tourist authorities have really capitalised on OP. Its mentioned in nearly every bit of literature and picked up by every guidebook.

    Well, now they'll have another film to show. Of course, I doubt BOND 23 will focus so much on elements of Indian culture as OP did.

    You don't get the hint, don't you? India, S.Africa and China is way, way to many locations. And CR and QOS had an appalling number of locations. I think it's totally un-Bond and much too Bourne-like to be constantly changing countries. I want ONE, maybe TWO major locations outside the London-MI6 section and a PTS location, and that's it.

    And CR had 6 locations, and it didn't come anywhere close of the epic scope of MR. So CR is a total failure in the locations department - it has too many locations, yet doesn't succeed in being epic, and it's Bournified to the extreme.
