    That's how I see it too. Brosnan's two most endurable performances are in TND and DAD as he's clearly having fun.

    He's not convincingly tough or deep so he's quite cringeworthy in GE and TWINE. If I'd had known back in 1995 we'd have been shut of him in just seven years I may have been less uptight about his reign in the role.

    No he wasn't bad, at all. He is not my favorite Bond but was exactly what/who the series need at the time.

    Somewhat, it's like a pendulum. when each era swings too far in one direction, a new one comes along and pulls it back into balance until it needs to be pulled back. It's not an exact pattern but it is there.

    Brosnan brought out the softer, gentler, more efeminine side of James Bond and for that he reminds us that it's ok to be your own man do not put on airs or try to chop a tree down just hold the gun and say the line make it yours with a litle tribute to before but also modernize and wear the tux and say the line and feel the hot lights on you and don't try to forget that you were on tv before this and all the pressure mounting from a wheezy script full of darkness and bravado. He was good in the fights too.

    I grew up in the 90s and admit that it was a pretty cheesy decade overall looking back. Movie-wise, It was a period largely targeted at pubescent teenagers or trashy movie geeks (as I was back then).

    However we get Se7en and Trainspotting. Two films that still hold up well now.

    It was a decade of robots, aliens, George Clooney, icebergs and Special Editions.

    You were born in the 90s but I LIVED the 90s as a teenager and I can surely tell you that it was the best era. The Bond films are not an exception. They were 90s Bond films, although they get bashed they were meant to be this way. So, nothing wrong with them, just enjoyable films.

    Seinfeld says it all about the 90's imho. Not much that I can recall, except hip hop's dominance and a few years of grunge.

    Jurassic Park, The Crow, The Matrix, Silence of the Lambs, T2, Total Recall, Armageddon, Conspiracy Theory, Batman Returns, Star Trek VI, Independence Day, Run Lola Run, Groundhog Day, Chain Reaction, Galaxy Quest, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Back To The Future III.... not to mention GE, TND & TWINE...

    The 90s had the greatest actors and actresses.
    Acting wise and as Eye Candy.



    Also had great blockbusters.
    The Mask of Zorro was one of my favorite Movies growing up and now that i watched Goldeneye and Casino Royale i feel like Martin Campbell used a lot of his Bond expirience into his Zorro movies.

    Martin Campbell works great in iconic heroes his only mistep was green lantern.

    To be honest, for casual movie fans,
    I'd say the highlighted ones are the only ones really worth watching.
    I loved Armageddon when I was 15 or so, but I watched some of it again when it was on tv a few months back. Again its as cheesy as hell.

    Films like JFK, Secrets and Lies and Remains of the Day don't really lend themselves to Bond though.

    I think one of GE's biggest competitors at the time was True Lies.

    My favourite 90's movie must be Nikita. Great little French Cinéma du look thriller. But overall the decade is the least interesting to me as a film fan.

    The action genre was never as obnoxious or tasteless either: "Today we celebrate our independence day!" My goodness. %-( :-O

    Anyway, there are some occasional bright lights: Nikita, Goodfellas, Cape Fear, JFK, Batman Returns, Reservoir Dogs, C'est arrivé près de chez vous, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Remains of the Day, Schindler's List, Pulp Fiction, Léon, Al di là delle nuvole, La Haine, The Usual Suspects, Se7en, GoldenEye, Heat, Insomnia, L.A. Confidential, The Mask of Zorro, Crna mačka, beli mačor, Eyes Wide Shut, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Todo sobre mi madre.

    Those spring immediately to my mind, but I've forgotten some nice contributions for sure.

    Nevertheless, for every JFK there are at least five Armageddons. Every decade since 1920 has a better record than the 90's.
