Yes, that Hunger Games film, is so front loaded, that its BO performance in most territories has dropped like a lead balloon. i.e the Chinese gave the film a big thumbs down, and is even below SP in that market now, despite having a more recent opening.
I don't understand why the SP budget was so big. You don't really see it on the screen. It doesn't particularly feel 'bigger' than SF.
When it's all said and done, I'd be curious to see how the gross held up in various countries compared to SF, and more importantly what the rate of drop off was (e.g. overall opening weekend to final gross multiplier). To me, that is more of a telling signal of whether the film caught on with the public as well as other films in the canon or not. In many markets, the opening gross was very high due to it being SF's immediate successor and due to a huge Sony marketing push (i.e. China) compared to SF.
PS: I will be seeing the final Hunger Games this Tuesday.
I didn't actually feel SP felt more location based that SF.
I was really hoping for more classic locations with Bond himself in Rome. We get the car chase, but that's not the same as seeing Bond walking the streets of Rome.
I really thought we were going to have a scene with Bond trailing someone through the ruins of the Roman forum, or a fight in the Coloseum, or a clandestine meeting in the Pantheon.
These days I actually find it quite hard to tell the different between location and studio and CGI work. It all blurs into one.
Nice.
It already made more money than the Amazing Spider-Man 2 I guess (with worldwide numbers added)
Now let's hope it will somehow pass 750m worldwide after the rest of the world numbers are added.
The Bond films really need to start feeling atmospheric when shooting on location, otherwise what's the point and why pay the extra expense?
People can say what they like about QoS but one thing it excelled at was, the feeling and atmosphere of being at the locations the various scenes were set in. Not once has Mendes managed to accomplish this save for perhaps Turkey and the UK settings don't count.
I agree with you.
20 more fron the US, 20-25 from Japan?
The rest internationally. Can it get farther?
I think $850 mil minimum.
My guess is around $875 mil, anymore would be more than welcome.
Yes.....Japan to do around $20-25 mil

All time worldwide, adjusted, this site hasn't updated yet but its 749 total now puts it ahead of TSWLM for 6th place, and will pass YOLT in a day or two to be 5th.

You have to take this into mind when looking at the overall grosses of the films.........and then reflecting how much more profitable the early Bond's were.
True...........YOLT cost $9 mil.............but grossed $111 mil.
But as you can see i'am talking about the budget:gross ratio.
UK...................$136.1 mil
China..............$83.4 mil
Germany.........$57 mil
France.............$28.6 mil
Australia..........$18.4 mil
Odd you left out North America. SP has earned more in NA than any other country or region.
