  • Dan Stevens is going places:

This sounds like his Tomb Raider-esque sidekick to the leading lady role. Don't get TOO famous though, stay under the radar!

Daniel Craig had his Tomb Raider movie too, which was a big hit. Lets just hope he doesn't play any leading man roles in the near future. He should just stick to chick flicks like Beauty and the Beast, get the female audience on his side, work on his on screen charisma etc. and then do a Guest sequel, just keep it low profile

Um...yes, that's why I specifically mentioned that movie! Sounds like its a very similar role in an action/FX blockbuster.

Ok i wasn't sure, my bad. But I am curious to see what type of role he will have in that movie anyway. In his last couple movies all his characters were so different from one another

    Thanks,
Looks fun, and he is playing a completely different type again from all his other movies. Looks like he wants to stretch his acting muscles a bit.

Well in his films you can't tell at all. The reason I say this is that with some actors you can e.g. Rupert Everett. ..good actor but always camp.

No. I have heard this before and it is irritating. Being well-groomed, eloquent and intelligent (Everett is all of these things) as a man does not equal 'coming across as gay'.
Nothing wrong with either orientation of course, but the labels are tiresome.

John Travolta's hair looks like it's moulded onto his head. A strange sight to behold. Sort of Max Headroom in look:

    :D

Dan Stevens doesn't quite look like how I imagine Bond to look but if Craig can wow most film goers, which seems to be the case, then there's no reason why a slick haired, suited in dinner jacket, Dan Stevens can't make a decent/credible James Bond. I think he's more likely than some of the other candidates that pop up.

Although DC has been great and all, to be honest I'd prefer a switch back to a taller, more traditionally built (early Connery/Dalton/Lazenby), dark haired actor, who actually can convincingly act (he doesn't need to be Craig level good as far as I'm concerned because Bond rarely needs that......but he should be able to assuredly and consistently inhabit the character).

The fella is out there.....if Eon wants him......the question is will they find him and go down this path? I hope so.

Well, I thought so too not long ago, but tbh I'm more & more convinced that DC has now set the bar and we can't possibly go back to a lesser actor.

As a newbie here I don´t actually know how much you have been discussing this name, but here´s my candidate folks:

    Dominic Cooper.

Well, a candidate may be too strong definition, but he´s got some serious potential!

Of course he´s 37 already and maybe a bit too short and well known. Maybe he´s out by now.

Dan Stevens looks way better with the beard than without. And that´s not the case for JB.

But is DC quality required for something like SP (I haven't seen it, but having read the reviews, it doesn't seem like it called out for thespian quality)? For CR, I definitely agree that DC was the man.....but he has seemed criminally underused since then, in terms of his acting skills..

I'm not calling for Brosnan to be sure, but I think Connery/Moore quality is more than sufficient if EON is trending back to traditional Bondian fare.

Learn the lines, don't fall over the furniture.

That's the art of Bond acting. ;) Worked for George Lazenby!

Forgive the superficial nature of this post but Daniel Craig doesn't appear to be that tall.

At the French premiere of SPECTRE - the presentation inside the theatre , Craig is standing next to Monica Bellucci. IMDB has her height as 5' 7¼" In this video she is taller than him.

The exact moment where you can see the height difference is at 4 mins 5 seconds:

Okay, she's wearing high heels so that's adding, let's say 1 to 1.5 inches to her height, perhaps? Let's round it to 5'8 or even 5' 9". Now if she's taller than Craig with high heels on, how tall is Craig? 5'8"?

Tom Hardy is around 5' 8" and some people have suggested he's too small for the role but I think Daniel Craig may be shorter than fans think. It's possible Hardy and other shorter actors would not be out of contention for Bond. Barbara Broccoli may not put as much importance on height. Clearly Daniel Craig isn't particularly tall. WIth high heels on, Miss Belllucci is noticeably taller than Mr Craig. I think Craig's casting has opened up the potential pool of actors - shorter actors will have a chance if they can act the part.

Honestly, I'd prefer a taller actor next time out, just for variety's sake, if nothing else.

Easier to film a taller actor. More choice of angles, wide shots...

  • My Choice would be Michael Fassbender (6 foot) but I think he's maybe not that interested in doing Bond.

No one below 5 ft 10in. Craig is this height. High heels on women add more than 1.5 inches!

He's not tall, but he doesn't seem slight because of his build and demeanor. That's probably as important. He also doesn't seem thuggish (at least not to me). Hardy does though. He looks like a street thug to me, which is why I don't want him as Bond, no matter how good of an actor he is.

I watched Child 44 with Hardy last night and yes he is a very good actor.

There is a push for Hardy to play Bond. His acting is there but yea his movement on screen seems clumsy. Brosnan moved very well on screen... almost cat like. TND is a good example of that.

Craig not quite as cat like but enjoyable ..witness the hotel escape from M scene.

Brosnan moved well when he wasn't running. His gunbarrel is excellent imho. Cool and confident. Miles better than Craig, although I've not seen his new one for SP.

I agree on Craig's escape from M in QoS being smooth as silk.

At 25 he may be too young at the moment but Aaron Taylor-Johnson could be a dark horse.

But I would be happy with Tom Hardy or Michael Fassbender in the meantime.

A bookie has slash odds on Sam Riley being named the next Bond. Don't really know much about him myself.

Ugh. If Godzilla is an example of the kind of performance he gives as a leading man in a blockbuster, then, no thanks. Lacking in charisma, IMHO. He also has a strangely forgettable face.

Interesting. I could see it. I saw him in the movie Franklin, with...Eva Green! Certainly under the radar enough to be EON's kind of choice. Does anyone know if he was looked at when they were testing 20something actors for Casino Royale?

? I think Connery and Craig ' move ' the best out all the Bond's. Lazenbys swagger is the worst.

The way Connery moved particularly from DR to GF was just utterly sublime. The grace in his natural swagger was off the charts.

Agree. Thunderball too I think but been awhile since I've seen that one.

Oh dear. Once again I think there's too much obsession with the actor looking like Bond or that dark hair and a tuxedo is good enough. It isn't.

I want an actor who will behave like the arrogant, strong and resourceful Bond of the novels and Craig delivered on that front as I always knew he would.

I don't think the series should go back to metrosexual mannequins again.
