    "Inside Man" is probably the best and most original track Arnold has ever created for a Bond film. It's a shame it's so short!

    Back to Skyfall: as of today, Arnold still can't confirm anything...



    This whole situation is very strange. Last time Arnold already confirmed at this point that he'll score QOS (on 09.10.2007 to be exact):

    Did Barbara, Michael & Sam not ask him yet do work on the film? Or did they but Arnold told them he's not sure yet whether he'll find time to do it?

    "Vesper" is very reminiscent of John Barry's "Out of Africa", and for that, he gets my vote of confidence. I do think he is improving a lot since TND.

    Sometimes, Arnold does manage to compose rather stimulating cues. One of the reasons CR works so well for me as a score is precisely the kind of music you mention. I truly felt like he had matured since DAD.

    Arnold has made very bad musics like DAD but he can find he's a genius in CR ans QoS.
    For the 50 years of James Bond, we can not expect someone else David Arnold to tribute the films ans John Barry.

    He's done all the Uncharted games. The most recent one got a perfect score from IGN for the soundtrack. I guess that's something.

    The game is like a hybrid of James Bond, Indiana Jones, and Tomb Raider. The most recent one, Uncharted 3, is basically The Living Daylights turned into a game.

    The most impressed I've been with a video game score (that would work for an action move) has been Richard Jacques' score for the Dreamcast game Headhunter:

    Not really the bond type but may I suggest Hans Zimmer-my favourite. ;)
    Zimmer is a fantastic composer. So is John Williams. But IMO their style doesn't suit the Bond movies, like Daniel Day-Lewis, who is a much better actor than Daniel Craig IMO, wouldn't be right in the role of James Bond.

    Absolutely. One of the reasons I believe there is a chance EON would allow Mendes to choose Newman if he wanted to is that he's a 10-time Oscar nominated composer and with Skyfall they hired a lot of crew members with Oscar-nominations and/or wins.

    This is what I found on a film score forum, it may be complete fabrication but nevertheless it's interesting:

    there are rumors persistent in Hollywood that MGM does NOT want to break the relationship Mendes has with Thomas Newman.

    Interesting I wouldn't mind Newman that said night at the opera is in my opinion Arnold's best work in fact Quantum of solace i found brilliant in everything including the score. But a break from Arnold would be fine with me.

You haven't done anything wrong, but there are some people around here that believe that David Arnold and Hans Zimmer are the Bashad al-Assad and Muammar Qaddafi of scoring music for film. Brace yourself, because you're probably be about to be on the receiving end of a torrent of superheated toxic acid for suggesting Arnold should continue or that Zimmer should replace him.

    @shadowonthesun ROFL. Really? I seriously haven't got an idea in the faintest of who else would be a good pick to score a Bond film haha. I said Zimmer because I liked the score of Sherlock Holmes. Honestly I've only heard a handful of composers worthy. I welcome suggestions! :P ... in the end, I would assume they'll stay with David Arnold.

And having seen the deluge handed out by some of the more-militant anti-Arnold crowd members, it can be a little bit of a deterrant to relatively-new members. I'm pretty sure that I've seen more than one person stop posting because they expressed satisfaction with Arnold and got attacked from it.
