    Just being sarcastic btw

Cruise is trying to outdo bond. He is a egotistial maniac that wants publicity. MI should be a team espionage thriller not an American bond clone! There is no way in hell a proper producer would have let an actor/stunt double get in harms way for publicity ... that is Cruise for you. Too many things could have gone wrong there ... camera could break, tarmac pieces could seariously injur the actor/stunt performer etc ... this is a perfect situation where they could have used CGI. Fortunately, the bond producers have experiance and a brain! Even carefully control stunts can go wrong ... so they take extra percaustions .... at the end of the day no ones life = a movie!

Yes, indeed. Cruise is trying to BE Bond, or his version of Bond. If an actor gets injured (let alone killed) on a high budget film like MI or Bond, he can create financial chaos for the studio. The criticism of Craig for not doing what appeared to be a dangerous helicopter stunt is nuts. The helicopter could have malfunctioned, the wires could have broken, etc etc.

Stuntmen are constantly being seriously injured and sometimes killed on these big films. Craig has been injured from stunt work on just about all his Bonds. The most serious injury apparently was on QOS which forced him to have rotator cuff surgery right after filming and a stuntman was badly injuried during the car chase filming on that film. Cruise is a great pro when it comes to turning out product, but after seeing the Scientology documentary on HBO, he also seems totally nuts.

And that is why I stopped watching MI movies. They are not Mi movies anymore, maybe they never were. They are Tom Cruise vehicles, podiums for his ego.

Any thug can kill. I want you to take your ego out of the equation, and to judge the situation dispassionately. I need to know that I can trust you, and that you know who to trust...and since I don't know that, I need you out of my sight.

His personal life aside, every film that he's in, Cruise gives it his all; that can't be said about a lot of actors. He never just phones it in. Other than both series being of the spy genre, I don't see where MI is trying to be Bond. Yes, from cars to suits to locations, comparisons could be made but that's true of any two films that deal with the same general subject matter.

    Why can't they be both?

They can be both, obviously. But not all female characters in Bond movies are Bond girls.

So, in order to be a Bond-girl, you have to bed Bond?! That makes Camille (QOS) no Bond-girl then :|
This isn't complicated. Bond Girls are good looking girls, that appear in Bond movies. That's it really.

They are always cast for their look. Anything else is bonus. eg for SP, Seydoux IMO brings a lot of bonus. Bach in TSWLM, maybe not so much.

Mayday was good looking. Not everyone's cup of tea maybe, but she could still turn heads.
I would call her maybe exotic, extreme Bond Girl.
Madonna has Bond Girl status too, as much as it pains me to acknowledge. She had looks. Still does.

Here are a couple of recent additions to the Bond Girl family. Note the expansive chest capacity. Always a helpful asset. :-B

Well of coursed they wouldn't do it for real. I'm think like the Bazaar in Skyfall or the Pyramids in TSWLM.
I meant I wouldn't want to see history destroyed even on film. Of course they wouldn't do it in filming. I wouldn't want them to CGI Craig crashing into an ancient pyramid.

IMHO Cruise is the most unfairly criticized actor in Hollywood. He had one moment: an early morning, straight off the junket, bad interview in which he criticized Brooke Shields, and since then, he's been bashed. Much of the junk written about him and his personal life is just that: junk. Tabloids have gone after him for his "weird" beliefs, but nobody has ever gone on the record and confirmed anything. Nicole Kidman has never had a negative word to say about him. In fact, every actor who's ever worked with him has praised him.

And he's a damn fine actor. He should have won a supporting actor Oscar for Magnolia. He was also really good in Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire, The Last Samurai, Vanilla Sky, Collateral, and (in a moment of hilarity) Tropic Thunder.

I'll keep this short since it's off topic, but I pretty much agree with @TripAces. Famous people in general get bashed and judged far too much for things that are actually not that important and any little mistakes are never really forgotten or forgiven. Very few have actually done anything anything particularly bad or regularly behave in any sort of bad manner toward their fellow human beings or torture puppies. Hell, you say something that is not deemed politically correct or embarrass yourself somehow, and it doesn't matter if you invented the cure for cancer, it'll always be, "but you remember that one time? oh yeah... tsk tsk" Geez.

On DC not doing too many very dangerous stunts, in my opinion actors are
Hired for their acting talent, while stuntmen are hired for their skill at stunts !
So I'd prefer a stuntman, doing the action ( making the " character" look good)
Then let the actor, act ! ( to also make the character look good ) ;)
Then combining the skills of both, we hopefully get a great Bond movie. =D>

See how easy it is to dismiss years of showing, you DO many dangerous stunts? You are even KNOWN for doing them more then any other Bond actor and in general.

They might spare him the running and not allow helicopter stunts, but that doesnt say a thing on how many of his own stunts he does in this one. The general public is indeed an ungratwful audience.

    Unflattering moment for Wah Wah.
One of Sean's best moments. Refusing to be lectured by wah wahs condescending, arrogant tone.
I completely disagree with what he actually said, as most reasonable people would, but absolutely love the way he threw her sanctimonious tone, right back in her self-satisfied face.
Her preachy tone didn't deserve a dignified response.
I don't know what he's going on about, but he knocked her off her throne.
That response of his, translates to, "you don't talk to me like that. Put this in your pipe and smoke it."

Just another reason to love the man!

=====as for Craig and his stunts, I can't disagree with the good @DrGorner above.
Very sensible, but still I do very much like that he tries to do as many stunts as he can, on his own.
He's in great shape.Babs and MGW can reign him in, if they sense insurance liability issues.

I can't stand the guy, caught the Rogue Nation trailer last night and was left underwhelmed just looked like any other U.S blockbuster with more ridiculous stunts to sate Tom Cruise's ego and thirst to look dangerous and daring.

SPECTRE will own this big time, the MI series hasn't exactly been standing out much for a long time and the only way they can get it publicity is having it's egotistical star doing big money shot type stunts, The poster looks ludicrous, the MI franchise is just one big ego trip for the Cruiser, thankfully Bond has never had it's star hang over any of their films like he does.

Nah, I really find that a bit of an overreaction. Tom Cruise really "owns" the franchise, but I think not in a negative way. You forget one important thing here. Like "Furious 7", also "Mission: Impossible" is way more about a combined team effort. It's actually something that Sam Mendes slightly copy-pasted from the M:I-franchise.

We have been talking about "the new MI6-team" during the presentation of "SPECTRE" back in December 2014 no? On top of that, the new "Q" and Moneypenny are way more part of a team, in which James Bond 007 takes part. Not to mention the earphone scene in the casino in "Skyfall", which was in essene quite similar to the India-party-scene in "Ghost Protocol".

One last thing though, I think that "other combined team effort", "Furious 7", will do better at the box office than "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation".

Great looking set! I wonder if it's built by them, or if already exists.

We know from earlier sources, that they are building a construction somewhere in the Morocco desert. But parts of the set could be in Pinewood or elsewhere. A real factory somewhere. The trees in the background rule out that this picture is taken in Morocco though, but it is surely from the Morocco scenes in the movie.

It looks more like an industrial complex of some kind. Perhaps a laboratory, linked to the Clinic in Sölden?
  • Just because someone on Instagram says it's the Bond set, doesn't mean that it really is.

Hmm...that MI scene featured a spy in a tuxedo infiltrating a billionaire villain's party. Isn't that a blatant Bond trademark? AVTAK. TND, DAD, QOS etc. Obviously Bond is "influenced" by other movies, but other movies are definitely copying Bond as well.
