I am not going to recommend this film, as it is rather dark and boring. However it has its moments, especially the non-stop moments of the 4 spring breaker bad-girls cavorting abount non-stop in their bikinis and expensive running shoes.
I have new respect for Vanessa Hudgens. She gets an Oscar nod for exemplary best performance in a party-girl role. A much overlooked performance category, if I do say....

Probably best hollywood films Jackie Chan has done, i remember his first western movie many years ago now The protector. Not one of his best. Sorry his second, Big Brawl was his first which was not to bad. Forgetting his cameo roles in Canonball movies.
A sweet, mature romantic drama starring Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm directed by Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier. For those who really know their films Bier is best known for her work in the Dogme 95 movement - a series of Danish films that pushed for more a more "stripped back" look. Hence natural light and sound, and as little "artificial-ness" as possible. I've seen two of the most famous films: Festen and The Idiots.
The backdrop of a fragile family unit coming together for a celebration was one used in Festen and that forms the basis for the main events here. Trine Dyrholm is brilliant as the middle aged Danish hairdresser forced to put on a happy facade after not only combatting breast cancer but
What about Brosnan? Well this is certainly one of the best performances I have seen him give. True there are a couple of moments in which he does his "angry overacting" routine (anger was never his strong suit), but overall I found his acting tender, charming and quite beautiful in a lot of scenes. That said I still feel Dyrholm gives the best all-round performance in the film.
The cinematography is brilliant and really captures the feel of Sorrento without it feeling overly "picturesque".
In many ways this film offers the best of both worlds in that its likely to appeal to the masses thanks to the scenery and the presence of Brosnan, as well as those who are into more "artistic" independent films. There is about a 50:50 ratio of English and Danish dialogue.
A suprisingly moving experience.

Of course, foxy former bond girl Pike is welcome but ultimately she was just in the movie to make up the numbers....
Watching World War Z and Iron Man 3 tonight. Can't wait.
I thought Shanghai Noon was his best all-around Hollywood movie.
@timmer: This film contains a lot of artistic arrogance from Harmony Korine, but I wasn't entirely disappointed in it. He should have known when to stop, when to control himself, but in some places things work fine. I guess my major complaint about the film is that there's not enough self-discipline on the part of the filmmakers.
The film is rather uneven. I didn't expect it to ultimately be so dark. I thought it would be more of a fun romp, which it is to much degree, but its rather uneven.
When its over, you don't really know what to make of it.
Texas Chainsaw 2013 ( originally released in 3d but I saw the dvd version)
I enjoyed this film. I like campy horror schlock and this fit the bill. It's the 7th in the Texas Chainsaw canon. Actually a new attempt at a direct sequel, but set in the present time. The busty female stars are Alexandra Daddario who features in the recent Percy Jackson films and Tania Raymonde, who played the young Rousseau daughter in tv's Lost.
Neat little twist. This film actually tries to re-make Leatherface as an anti-hero. Say what?! Doesn't work IMO. This animal still needs putting down.
And joy, there is a direct sequel in the works. Good times :\">
Pegg and Frost team up again for this enjoyable romp. Had many laughs this afternoon watching this. Think this may be my new favourite of the movies they have made together? >-)
The last film I watched was 'Ronin.' Took me years to finally watch it, but I sat myself down and didn't plan on stopping until I finished the entire thing, and man, was it worth it. Realistic action sequences, some of the best car chases I've ever seen in a film, great cast, wonderful plot, and our very own Jonathan Pryce as a bad guy and Sean Bean as a good guy. Fantastic movie, highly recommended.
Bolo the Brute 3/6
Random episodes of "hilarity" fea Bolo as a hairy faced bumpkin or something.......poor man's Drunken Master (minus the booze) , not funny nor any memorable fight scenes....I mean the fight scenes are the main reason you see them in the first place.
IMO , it was JCs best acting and I liked the movie.
T3 is underrated , sure it didn't live up to T1 & T2 but on it's own it's okay , has decent plot and good action.
It's not just Grace Jones and Madonna...I mean did we really need to see Vanilla ice in TMNT II , another one of those lime light stars that were hot back then.
I don't agree that action fims shouldn't have character development , for example Lee films (in Boss he refuses to fight due to his father being killed in a fight , in Fist he fights for honor & Way he's the country bumpkin who ms Chen at first finds silly cuz he doesn't understand foreign customs. Also him losing virginity is a side plot in Boss......this scene is missing but Lee talks about it in radio interview)
Interesting story (when the interesting stuff happened), dull as bricks characters (and I like Tom Cruise). The twist definitely saved it, but it just seemed like the film was rehashing every single sci-fi concept out there. Not a bad movie, but I think it could have been FAR better.

A nice sequel that contains much more Bond-esque elements (including the score), very entertaining and quite fun (sometimes just stupid) overall. Good casting and decent perfs. Rowan Atkinson still shows some "Mr Bean" 's remains in his acting. So, IMO...

Superman II The Donner cut.
Bram Stokers Dracula, excellent film full of invention. Would like to see this on Bluray though not sure its available.
Can I say anything that hasn't been said before? How many words do I need to describe this film? One...
Perfection.
Quite true. Everything from the acting to the directing and cinematography, script, sets, music, and the overall mood of the film is legendary. For my money it is one of the very few perfect films that have ever been produced. Such power in so many of the scenes that I could talk about it for hours upon hours until my mouth grows dry. It is truly one of the most classic and lauded films in cinema history that actually holds up to all the praise. As time goes by, both love and Casablanca will forever endure.
However, part 3 was a real return to form. Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley were excellent as ever and the script is peppered with the trademark sharp dialogue associated with the great Shane Black. My only gripe is the slushy moments with the young boy who helps Stark. Almost vomit inducing.
If robert downey wasn't in it ,it would be a real stinker.
He carries the film. 5/10
The Thieves (South Korean movie)
Two thieves crews at the top of their game, one from Hong Kong and another from S.Korea, plan to steal and $20 million diamond in a Macau Casino. Critics say that's it's just Ocean's 11 with an East Asian twist. I beg to differ especially concerning the 2nd act and ending. I enjoyed the dynamism and relationship among the characters more than the heist itself unlike Ocean's 11. Lastly, one of the hottest S.Korean actress, Jun Ji Hyun/Gianna Jun (Sassy Girl and Blood: The last vampire), is in it.
The trouble I had getting the DVD (in the UK it's gone straight to DVD, in the US it's getting a theatrical release next month) was enough to make me believe that someone was conspiring to stop me from seeing it. Talking of the theatrical release, in the US, the film goes under it's longer, original and more suitable to the film title, I Will Follow You Into The Dark.
Where the film uses it's ace card is how it remains incident free for the first half of the film of 45 minutes. This creates a breathing space, allowing the films two leads (Mischa Barton & Ryan Eggold) to develop a credible chemistry and for the romance between their characters to blossom. Once the film is part that first half, and moves into the last hour, the the romantic tone gives way to supernatural thriller. All the cast put in good performances, especially the two leads, but it's Mischa Barton as Sophia that stands out. If I had one gripe about the film, and it's a shame to bring it up, but there are times when the film is too dark to see what's going on. I would certainly recommend this, if it's showing near you, go and see it.
A mildly entertaining film, and I always enjoy watching something with Jackson in it. It's a bit slow at times and the action scenes are a little dull, but it was still relatively enjoyable. I have a cookie for whoever can give me two ties this film has with the Bond universe.
Jeffery Wright stars in it and David Arnold did the score.
