5: Worse than the winking fish, that statue that Bond wakes up to in Sanchez's villa.
4: Bond dazed on the floor during the bar fight. Looks completely fake and SCREAMS the fact that this film is from the 80's.
    3: Talisa Soto's acting.
2: I don't really mind the ninjas on their own, to be honest. Bond had to be stopped from shooting Sanchez somehow. It's the fact that they're part of Hong Kong narcotics that bugs the hell out of me. What kind of narcotics agency hires NINJAS?
1: Felix being happy at the end. The only thing that outright bothers me about LTK. I really had to stretch it for this list.

    5) Pam the harbour pilot - Just, no.

    4) The bar brawl - The fight is bad enough but why are we here in the first place? Why would Felix want to meet Pam in some seedy bar late at night? Surely a safer place could have been arranged?

    3) The ninjas - Really? Plus they stop Bond from shooting Sanchez and ending the movie.

    2) Q showing up and helping Bond - I love Q but come on. He is too out of place here.

    1) The happy ending - The fact that Bond gets his job back right away without any consequences whatsoever is ridiculous. Felix is as chipper as ever and the fish gives us a knowing wink, letting us know that the joke is on us. Bond should have rode off into the sunset with Pam and started a new life with her. In hindsight it would have been a more fitting ending to Dalton's tenure.

#1 The whole 'it doesn't feel like a James Bond movie'. Even another great Dalton performance can't quite save it. See Craig in a Quantum of Solace

#2 The brawl at the Bimini Bar. Just seemed unnecessary

#3 David Hedison's return as Leiter. Even Priscilla Barnes seemed to irritate

#4 Patti LaBelle's closing theme tune

#5 Caroline Bliss given a few seconds on screen as Moneypenny. Was it even worth including her ?

    5. Repetitive soundtrack by Kamen.
    4. Bond's hair.
    3. The title song
    2. Felix Leiter awful acting at the end.
    1. The stupid and out of place winking fish...

I will try to limit it to 5 ...

    5. winking fish (of all movies to try to fit this in ...!)
    4. Bond and Pam in the bar fight (just looked awkward and not right)
    3. Della's being raped (at least we didn't see that part) and murdered
    2. Felix being cheerful in the hospital at the end (so wrong)
    1. the high level of sadism in this film but, yeah, especially Sanchez beating Lupe (it made me feel sick)

5 - Bond presents himself as a problem eliminator in Sanchez' office.

4 - The little nod to Tracy.

    3 - A farewell to arms.

    2 - Water-skiing behind the plane.

1 - The entire climactic truck sequence.

Why did we skip the five worst moments of On Her Majesty's Secret Service?

No need to worry, there aren't that many anyway.

As for Licence To Kill, the truck chase, a rather different take on the PTS, the maiming of Fleix, whipping of Lupe, murder of Della are other moments are my pick for the best or at least my favourite. I liked this more violent film.

    1. Sanchez introduction "What did he promise you? His Heart?....Give her his heart!" As cold and ruthless as any Bond villain we'd ever encountered.

    2. Felix is shark bait

    3. Della offers Bond her garter and he respectfully declines. She throws it to him anyway. I love the look Dalton gives in this scene. One of immense sadness. This is highlighted a short time later when he discovers Della's body, which brings back the pain of his own loss.

    4. Q. Field Agent Extrodinaire! The gag when he tosses aside the sweeping brush/walkie talkie with such nonchalance despite his years of chastising 007 for treating his gadgets with contempt.

    5. The tanker truck sequence. Arguably the best climax to any Bond film. Brilliant stunt work. Absolutely exhilarating.

    1. "Compliments of Sharky!"
    2. Bond feeding the maggots
    3. Bond being reminded of Tracy
    4. Bond leaving MI6 the hard way
    5. The entire truck chase

    1. Bond Burning Sanchez.
    2. PTS.
    3. You earned it, you keep it. Old buddy!
    4. Reference to Tracy.
    5. Planning the Casino Assassination.
    5. Bond escaping from Milton Krest's boat
    4. "If it wasn't for Q branch you'll be death long ago" Q as a hell of a field agent
    3. Everytime Bond gives some advice to Sanchez, specially the "there must be two traitors as no one is stupid enough to take you alone"
    2. The nod to Tracy
    1. A farewell to arms scene

I've just remember another worst moment: the laser camera that makes an X-ray from the picture of the Presidente!

    5) Sanchez' pet iguana - What a strange yet fascinating aspect of this character. Some may feel it's tacky but I think that it adds a layer of depth to him.

    4) The attempted assassination of Sanchez - Pretty awesome seeing Bond at work, setting things up. Then... ninjas happen :-/

    3) He's got a plane to catch - The moment when he grabs on to the plane while water-skiing is exhilarating.

    2) He disagreed with something that ate him - What a great job by Dalton here. Some may feel he's too theatrical but I find that he hits all the right notes in this scene.

    1) Killing Sanchez (finally) - What I love most about this scene is when we see a bloodied and broken Bond stumbling out of the wreckage. We now understand everything that he has sacrificed to carry out his revenge. Too bad they didn't end the movie here.

  • 1) Bond kills Sanchez (actually, the entire truck sequence)

I'm having trouble deciding between the rest because there are so many to choose from. There's the plane water skiing, almost any of the dialogue between Bond and Sanchez, the assassination bit, the Q scenes, the Tracy reference, Felix getting fed to the shark, the entire PTS, Bond taking down M's guards and going rogue, etc.

    Best, ok:

    1) Pam as Bond girl (excellent in every way)
    2) Killing Sanchez, the entire sequence - just fantastic, the highlight of the movie
    3) Q as field agent (Q is a gem)
    4) The nod to Tracy
    5) The water-skiing behind the plane

By the way, if we do the 5 worst for OHMSS, I (in the minority on this forum it seems) can come up with plenty, more than 5.

Once again, I've got to do ten.

10: Bond's momentary breakdown after the death of Sanchez. He didn't think he would survive his revenge mission and it shows. Brilliant acting from Tim.
9: Robert Davi as Franz Sanchez. Magnificent actor, magnificent performance, and one of the best villains in the series' history.
8: The waterski stunt with the plane.
7: Bond unravels Sanchez's organization from the inside, starting with Krest. I love Yojimbo and its' influence here is much welcomed.
6: Bond looks down at the shark pit after Kilifer has been ripped apart by the sharks. No quip, no line, just an emotionless stare. That is the most Flemingesque moment in the entire series.
5: Bond discovers Della and Felix. The acting on Tim's part is just so perfect, when he crawls across the floor to get the phone, knocking it off the table when he answers it, is absolutely heartbreaking. Props go to the cinematographer as well, for that great tracking shot as Bond enters the house.
4: Benicio del Toro as Dario, a fantastic start to a legendary career. I can only imagine people in 1989, seeing this in the theaters, knowing he would go places.
3: Once again, Timothy Dalton's performance as a whole. As I said before, this is my favourite portrayal of James Bond in any film ever.
2: The ending with Bond and Pam in the pool. "So why don't you ask me?" Aside from the winking fish - which doesn't bother me as much now anyway - this was a perfect ending and my favourite in the entire series.
1: The tanker chase. Not only is this the best action sequence in the entire series, it's possibly the best in any film, ever.

    Honourable Mentions:

The return of David Hedison as Felix. My favourite Felix and it gives his attack an emotional impact.
"More of a problem eliminator." Dalton and Davi play off of eachother so damn well, especially in this scene.
    WAYNE. FREAKING. NEWTON.
"No, Della... I'd better be going." Of all the references to Tracy, this is the best by far.

    WAYNE. FREAKING. NEWTON.

You too like the Joe Butcher character? I thought I was the only one... It's good to have some fun with some campy characters once in a while!

I appreciate comic relief in serious films when it's well-done and not overly used. Newton had a great character with Prof. Joe, and he only appears in less than five minutes of the film. Plus it was appropriate with the television evangelist scandals that happened around then. Ties the already realistic (by Bond standards) LTK even more into reality.

#1 Timothy Dalton as James Bond. Simply the closest representation of what Bond should truly be, since Connery in From Russia With Love and The Living Daylights directly before it. It's a pity about the rest of the movie, but Dalton alone, makes it work

#2 The Sanchez / Dario/ Bond / Bouvier sequence at the cocaine grinder. "What about the stingers ?". One of my favorite moments of the entire film

#3 The interrogation in Isthmus with Sanchez, when Bond offers his services. "I'm more of a problem eliminator". Great little sequence

#4 The torching of Sanchez at the very end. "Don't you want to know why ?"

#5 Robert Davi as Franz Sanchez. One of the last remaining truly nasty and believable main adversaries of the James Bond series

Ah, Davi was truly menacing and nasty - believably so, yes.

    5. Good PTS.
    4. Bond waterskiing off the plane
    3. Darker tone overall
    2. Robert Davi
    1. Timothy Dalton

They're assets to a good film but not moments as such. Same goes for another agent who listed Carey Lowell as a "moment". I think I got around this obstacle on the previous list when I listed "any scene with Wayne Newton in it" as one of the worst moments. Even that was cheating since there were, unfortunately, several moments with Professor Joe.

I've taken these lists more as "the 5 best/worst things about [insert film here]" rather than specifically just moments. However, most of my picks in all my lists are individual scenes rather than overall performances.

Tough one for me but okay, let's try. ;-)

    5 - Boris freezing up.

4 - Funny geography outside the PTS dam.

3 - The end credits. You know why. ;-)

2 - I never liked that whole 'chitchat' line.

1 - The Muffy scene. Irrelevant, not funny, not good.

    EDIT: I'm trying again.

    5. Xenia and Killing with her thighs. She's hammy at most, but when she guns down the Bunker staff, she's very menacing.

    4. Boris's death.

    3. Wade suddenly showing up with Marines. (Bond handled it on his own, too late Wade.)

    2. Xenia and Chuck's "intimate" scene.

    1. Muffy.
