@fassbonder007: Did you know that the receptionist in The Spy Who Loved Me is the same actress who played the lady Bond is in bed with in the hotel in Never Say Never Again? I found that out a few months ago and nearly flipped trying to see the resemblance, hahaha.
  • I didnt know that...I will have to check that out..

There are so much extraordinary characters to choose from...My favorite secondary character is Saunders from TLD. Not only his part was very well written but Thomas Wheatley offered an excellent rendition. In about 60 minutes, he evolved from an as.. to a friend you cared about. His demise (along with that of Corrine Dufour) was the one I felt the most.

I will agree with you that those two ally deaths are two of the most impacting, without a doubt! The chilling menace of Drax's Dobermans and the cruel cunning of Necros prove more than supensful in those scenes.
  • Personally, my favourite supporting character is j.W. Pepper, followed by Jaws. As my picture tells, I also love Desmond Llewelyn as Q. I love the interaction between Bond and Q, particularly the way Q is patronising Bond. "IF 007 can be trusted to look after it" - biting sarchasm - just love it!

I really liked Dr.Hall in Skyfall. The chap who plays the word association game with Bond.

I found alot of the smaller roles in SF were cast well. A reason I think it to be a far, far better film than QOS.

I like that actor a log, he has played minor characters perfectly in several films and tv series. Did you notice Mr. Fukutu was in the casino?

The man with the ponytail from CR? No way.
  • I don't know who he was, but one of the guys from Skyfall when Bond was with Eve, and he and Bond had a fight, and fell into a pit in the middle of the room, and was attacked and dragged away by a Komodo Dragon. That was damn amusing, so we'll include him

That woman on the subway in London when Craig appears on the front of the car, and says 'Health and Safety', have to include her

Probably some others to include from the latest release but that's all I can think of right now

  • I'm glad Saunders mentioned the tubby guard because I have always wondered about him. I like to think that he is another resident, possibly Herr Von Hammerstein from the short story.

Dink from "Goldfinger". Does she have a chance to be nominated?

DaltonCraig007, how about Chew Me from your beloved "TMWTGG"?

Strangely, I have always had a thing for these two minor Bond girls

Other minor characters, the young Navy guy who says "leave it to me" in TSWLM, Rubelvitch\Rubavitch and, the VERY sinister Angelo from TB
  • Back to the MWTGG who were those three goons that attacked Bond in the Bottoms Up club?

The bald guy was certainly a contender for bigger role & each time I see him I think Marvel The Kingpin lookalike.
  • How about the Tennis Girls in CR, I've always had the hots for Alessandra Ambrosio. Am I that shallow, don't answer the answers YES.
  • I've always liked (surprisingly enough) the elderly woman in QoS that gets her stuff knocked down the bell tower by Bond. It's so silly but yet funny.

Have we mentioned the heavy in FYEO during the car chase who 6 years later is holidaying with his family in Gibraltar?

I don't know if Kincaide qualifies as a minor character, but he must be included.
  • It has to be said, each time I saw Skyfall, when Silva was being held captive in the glass cage, an insect (moth ?), appears and floats across the screen where he is. It's not so much how did it get there, as, 'Let's include this for this thread'. But seriously, it should be for human characters only, but it's something I did think of when watching

The double taking pigeon from Moonraker hasn't been mentioned thus far, which does conclude that non-humans really can't participate in this

That said, I include the heavy from Skyfall who falls into the pit with Bond, and gets attacked by the komodo dragon. Surely worth a mention

And let's not forget the woman on the subway when Bond says 'Health and Safety', if it hasn't already been mentioned

Just going outside of the Craig era, other names to include would be the German woman who has her vehicle stolen by Bond in Octopussy, "Mein auto!", The man who "I hope isn't invited to dinner" in The Living Daylights, and last but not least, the taxi driver in Paris who Bond steals a car from, who was of course featured recently in a GTC round

    What?! :-/
  • I'm being serious

Next time, and I've seen it three times believe me, when Silva is first seen in the glass case, a big insect appears and floats across the screen inside. I promise you it's there

I recognized it more, because as soon as I saw it, I immediately thought - "This deserves a place in the minor character fall of fame"

If you go for another watch, take a look next time, it's hard not to miss it

Mr Moth's moment of fame, you could call it ?

Baltimores perfectly correct - the perils of watching the film on IMAX twice as I have.

Theres also a fly or something when Bond is looking at himself in the mirror after shagging the Greek bird. Is there some subtext by Mendes here showing us that Bond and Silva both attract insects?

    And dont forget the scorpion!

Perhaps another thread about the animals of Bond? Blofelds cat, Albert the crocodile, the elephant that pushes JW into the canal? It has fascinating possibilities. Or not.

As my picture tells, I also love Desmond Llewelyn as Q. I love the interaction between Bond and Q, particularly the way Q is patronizing Bond. "IF 007 can be trusted to look after it" - biting sarcasm - just love it!

    He's not minor at all!

    Allow me to over-analyze:

Bond testing fate with the scorpion and trapping it in his shot glass symbolize his later tussles with Silva, where he manages to capture him as well.

The butterfly in Silva's cell symbolizes his desire for freedom to strike out at M, if only he wasn't blocked from her. The butterfly also symbolizes how Silva has changed from M's favorite to her most feared, as if he came out of a cocoon, no longer his past self before his torture.

The fly near Bond further symbolizes his freedom, his flight if you will, from his job. As a fly naturally lands on fecal matter at times, they further reflect Bond's own appearance as a man fractured by the drink.

    =))

Neither is Pepper because Pepper doesn't seem to like minors.

The man in the that tractor vehicle who holds JW Pepper up in LALD. Pure legend! I love it when he presses the horn XD

Mrs Bell, also from LALD. Just love the looks she gives Bond. "You're over revving!".

Blofeld's cat from YOLT who tries to escape. It must have dug it's claws into poor Donald.
