    I've listened to the preview more times than I care to keep track of, and I still love it. With every new listen I attempt to be more critical, but I end up whistling the whole thing through!

    It better! The song gets better as it goes along and cuts off at just the wrong time. For it not to end with a drawn out note would be something of a disappointment.

    Well, I have to say that it's true that the snippet we hear plays it quite safe. It's dramatic for sure and uses the Bond theme to good effect while on the melodic side it is a little thin. But remember this is the first chorus and I believe this song will rise to the intense. And hearing her vocals so restrained in the snippet really makes me happy because her biggest talent is to dose her voice to the most effect. Not a single note to much unlike those Whitney-Houston-soundalikes like the misses Keys or Knowles.

    And while this HMV guy seems to have been very very wrong Mr Friedman has truly heard this song. Most of the leaked vocals are in the snippet.

    Thats what i was thinking. A final long skyfall would be great.

    Some people compare Adele's song with the three Shirley Bassey theme songs. Is there a slight possibility, that the one thing these peope complain to be missing is, after all, Shirley Bassey? And the sole solution for them fellows, EON should have hired... Shirley Bassey? ;)

    I'm a songwriter and producer and originally wrote the following song called 'Skyfall' for which I intended to submit to Adele & Barbara Broccoli for consideration for the film.
    Adele & Paul Epworth have written their own 'Skyfall' song, but I wanted to share with you my song Skyfall.

    I'm not surprised by any of this. This song will go to number 1 on the charts, I guran damn tee it and it will really deliver on packing some serious heat as a Bond song. What we've heard so far is understandably enough to get people running around excited. I just hope it ranks with my favourites such as, GF, TB and DAF.

    P.s. I really don't like the MR song.

    One would hope it'll have a bit of diversity to it. If the former, I think it will come across as a bit on the boring side, especially if the total running time is almost 5 minutes. At the moment it is the James Bond theme - redux.

    Insofar i like it very much. Reminds me of Tomorrow Never Dies by Sheryl Crow and The Living Tree of Dame Shirley Bassey (I think I've been the only one to relate them together).
    I just hope it to have a big brass section at the end.

    I prefer MR to GF. I think GF is a bit overrated and isn't as good as some of Basseys other themes.

    Yeah, Goldfinger for me is merely an average song. I think MR is better too. DAF is Bassey's best Bond song.

    On October 5, James Bond day, will the full version of SF be released online to listen to for free for a limited time? I want to listen to it in order to decide whether I will buy it from i tunes.

    No, Skyfall is called Skyfall in Sweden too. However, the word skyfall itself means very heavy rain/cloudburst, in Swedish. Makes the title a bit funny for us, since it has a true meaning :)

    I agree with others who think that it sounds a bit bland and under-produced. My you, I listened to it from 2 different sources and the second one sounded noticeably better - I'm hoping it was just a poor mix. I will reserve judgement until I hear the "real", full-length version in a bit...

    I think GF is more over exposed than overrated. The film itself is definitely overrated but the song imo is one of the highest forms of musical magnificence. The instruments, the production and the pacing of Bassey's vocals all come together like no other. I have no time for MR.
