That's very interesting, thank you; it's a bit murky to try and figure out where they're getting that from, but the actor is so obscure that I tend to believe it.
The most interesting part really is that they're testing actors (although it's unclear when this happened I guess); not entirely surprising I suppose, but heartening to know it's actually happening.

It's in the mag issue that's printed, so THR have likely known about it for at least a few days/weeks.

His Insta shows him very fit and much slimmer than that THR pic currently.

Oh yeah, I should have read a bit closer, it actually says late June!

Oh good, the eighth choice for Bond has supposedly auditioned. Incidentally If he becomes Bond I’ll happily be wrong!

Heh! The eighth choice? How do you mean? :)

If it's true that Scott Rose-Marsh was tested, I find it depressing.

Just a way of saying he may not be the top contender or the one who gets it, even if he’s been invited to audition via tape (which is very much a first line thing anyway, especially for untested candidates - that’s how Sam Worthington and Anthony Starr got ousted from the candidate list).

I mean, CR supposedly has 200 potential names at the start, even if Craig was supposedly the favourite. They’ll go through these guys.

It's Chalamet it's a given. You guys image of Bond is of the past. The current rights owners don't care about the past, they want Gen Z bums in seats. Crypto money story, influencer as James Bond Woman, Dubai parties and cities, selfies and making money by putting videos online and becoming instant millionaires. It's either Chalamet or Taron Egerton but Taron is too masculine, they are going to go with Chalamet (also because he is easy going and has a relationship working with the director). It's a slam dunk. Bond that we loved died in No Time to Die, it's time to deal with it.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but I feel you’re either a similar influencer bro living in Dubai to what you describe in your posts, or a guy living in your mum’s basement. No inbetween 😂

Oh yeah absolutely, if this story is true then he's one of dozens if not hundreds, as you say. I'm not particularly interested in this guy, I think the interesting thing is that they're actively looking at people now; and not just the big stars. Although I think they'd look at everyone anyway just to do a thorough job. As you say, they did the same when they were looking for Bond#6 even though they had their sights on Craig the whole time.

Strangely, his name came up on the books back in July! Do we have our man all of a sudden? https://screenrant.com/james-bond-26-007-actor-scott-rose-marsh-betting-odds/

If it’s him, hats off to the guy. But I think there’s a very big list and his name is one of many. Statistically (and frankly from what I’ve seen of him) I’ll say it’s unlikely to be him. But you never know.

They’d be stupid not to cast a wide net. If they have their sight on a Callum Turner or Harris Dickinson and can’t get them, they need other options. Plus you never know who could shine through.

Personally though, I believe they’ll ultimately go for a more established actor a la Craig. He seems an interesting guy though (apparently worked in a call centre before coming into acting, which is quite cool).

I guess that's after he sent his tape in (today's story said he did that in late June) so the source for both stories may well be the same. It could be that he told a mate of his in June, that mate told some other mates, they put bets on him being 007, the bookies noticed that and it became a story on screenrant in July. But him or his agent being loose-lipped about it also became known to this THR reporter this week so this story appears.
That his name has come up twice just means that he or his agent have been more indiscreet than all the other guys who have been testing.

I really don't see much Bond in this guy.
So, the guy on the right doesn't look like James Bond...

    But these guys do?

    Really?

If they chose Bond actors based on Bond style photo shoots I don't think they would do very well.

Callum Turner vaguely has something of the Hoagy look about him in some shots, tbf!

I think the "Hoagy Carmichael" standard needs to be left in the past

Agreed. Is it so hard to find an actor who could easily embody this?
