STD season 5 finale was a self indulgent dissapointment. Season 5 started reasonably well and was a improvement on the previous two seasons, they cut out a lot of the pointless tears and needy crap. The finale just did not want to end and the drawn out final act was vommit inducing, this show is so far up it's own bleep it's unreal.
    The Daniel's reveal
    was pointless and lazy.

I am hoping the Skydance buy out will lead to much better things.

Bad reviews for Section 31, even coming from TrekCore, the most friendly of all Trek fan sites. If they’re writing off the new film, it’s gotta be pretty bad.

My friend and I who are pretty big Trekkies decided to watch Section 31. It was pretty bad and not in the so bad it's good kind of bad. It's pretty boring for the most part which especially made the last half feel like a slog. There are probably 6 or 7 instances where all the main characters talk to each other in a semi circle just spouting expository dialogue. All the characters feel like cardboard cutouts, the dialogue feels like it was written by edgy teenagers, and the plot twists you can see coming from the moon without the use of a telescope. I went in with an open mind and no expectations and came out of it mainly bored and uncaring. It feels like something produced by The Asylum. If you're a fan of Star Trek you're not going to enjoy it. If you're a fan of caper movies with a group of misfits you're not going to enjoy it. It's a movie that just rips off a bunch of other and better things but worse.

Reviews were so bad for Section 31 I passed on it, it sounds nothing like the covert organisation from DS9 which was great and full of intrigue.

Last week I started my full rewatch of DS9, Kurtzman trek for the most part sucks.

I’m very mixed on Kurtzman. DISCO and PICARD are full of issues and rank pretty low for me. However, LOWER DECKS, PRODIGY, and STRANGE NEW WORLDS have been very good.

From what I can see, the makers of S31 are not attached to any future Trek production, so it ought to stay that way.

That looks fun and exciting. I have not followed the show (can't be bothered to subscribe to Paramount), but Scotty seems to be new here, no?

He was introduced last season as a survivor of an attacked vessel.

Their spaceship has so many lights in it. Every wall is covered in them, even the tables.

Those are vaguely understandable, in SNW it is ridiculous. Just have a look at their meeting room next time, it’s insane

This one? I like it, not seeing how it’s “ridiculous”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I love Strange New Worlds aesthetics. It's the perfect blend of 60's retro sci fi and modern production design. It also reminds me of the submarine interior from the game Subnautica.

A wonderful scene. Jerry Goldsmith's music is glorious.

Have always felt the slow pace really works in the films favour..

The Motion Picture is my favourite it feels the most Star Trek and is a great science fiction film, I rate it as highly as Forbidden Planet and 2001. The first 6 Star Trek movies are very good, even 5 has some great moments.

I think 'The Motion Picture' was always very underrated. The effects still look impressive all these years later.

But you're right, all 6 movies have great moments. But top of the tree for me is Wrath of Khan.

I admire TMP more than I like it, because it’s blatantly trying to feel like 2001 with all the grandiosity but with none of the warmth and humor of TOS.

Not surprised it’s ending with S5. That seems to be the ceiling for all streaming shows. The real kicker is it’ll only have six episodes. That’s just cruel.

ST: SNW season 3 has dropped its first two episodes, I am watching the season finale of S2 again as its a two parter and I have totally forgotten what happened in part one.

Edited: S2 finale was good, one of the better episodes.

Edited: S3 Premiere was great the tension was ramped up to the max, the score was very good. One of the best Star Trek episodes I have seen in some time.

Agree, I never get why people say it feels the most like the show, the show had such a great sense of humor and was so well paced and fun.

ST: SNW S3 episode 2, admittedly I did find it amusing though considering they only have ten episodes a season why waste an episode and a lot of money on a weak rehash of a classic TOS episode. Also the show continues to undermine the character Spock, to be fair its just not Spock at all really.

Reminds me of STD, I am not keen on that time line or how it was realised.
