I'm glad someone said it, a younger, rookie Bond in a post-kingsman world does feel a bit derivative. But I actually really LOVE the casting of M, inclusivity done right IMO. I hope that lady returns after her small part in Bond 25.

Calvin reaction video! Love his enthusiasm. I laughed when he divulges where he was when he first watched it.

Leave it to Dyson to always find a detail that escaped me. So the maid Bond gives a one liner to in the hotel is also the woman at the gala function later where he does the „head hunting“ quip and most likely also with him in the Aston car chase. Which would most likely make her some kind of operative if she was trying to infiltrate the hotel as a maid the same time Bond was there as a page boy and the or one of the female lead characters of the game. Very interesting.

Also, I only now realized that the motorcycle Bond somehow triggers with his watch in the lab is very clearly branded as a Triumph. Which to me indicates that it isn’t just in a cutscene, but rather that motorcycles will be playable. I’d argue they wouldn’t have sprung for a licence for a one-off visual. Which is cool.

Also a bin lorry driving scene too.

I remember 007 Racing, which wasn't stellar I suppose is fair to say :)) But I did love that you could just ride with all the gadget-laden Bond cars up until that point, except the one from TLD. That always bugged me to no end. Superhappy to see we will probably be able to drive it in this one, 30 years later in what is most likely a much better game too.

Concerning the trailer, I quite like it. It does have some Kingsman-esque vibe to it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

    Bond would batter that mediocrity

    'kingsman'

    Do one.

Seems to be following the recent template.

get moneypenny behind her desk and out of the field. M three scenes no more. Bond smoking turkish cigarettes and drunk by lunch time.

that's what kids want these days

Obv not going to happen, but a ‚getting drunk‘ mechanic in this would be hilarious. And in true Bond fashion he’d only get more powerful the more he drinks.
Or maybe, since this is an origin, he first has to learn to hold his liquor.

Health items are vodka, champagne is body armour...

Be a great commercial opportunity. Guinness literally giving you strength, instead of anusache.

There could be a level in which Bond awakens unawares about the evening previous. There's a girl in his bed. Is it the consul's daughter he was bound to protect? The baddy's doll? Some tart? Both?

Anyway, Bond, smoking his fourth Turkish cigarette of the morning, has to get out the door without being heard. Or you can execute her GTA style.

Since we are analyzing everything about this trailer, and because chess features in several films, I thought I would add my take on the game depicted, but other chess-playing Bond fans were quicker and have already gone over the scene: Over at chess.com we get a very mixed reaction.

What bugs me is that the game is not accurately depicted. The chess board is not set up correctly (the bottom left corners of each player, a1 and h8, are always black), something that never happens in real gaming, and the captured pieces next to the guy with the ring on his finger would be white ones, not black. [edit: I first thought this was Bond, but Calvin Dyson observed correctly that it might possibly be a Spectre-like operative].

We know that the game from FRWL is based on a real game (Spassky vs. Bronstein, 1960) and since this scene kind of emulates that famous setting from FRWL, I would have hoped that a little more thought had been invested in this. The above analysis shows that Black's last move and White's position are unbelievably bad for such a setting. Another missed opportunity to depict a realistic chess game.

Very well spotted @zebrafish . I like a game of chess myself, though wouldn't consider myself an expert in a million years. Still though, I enjoy an occasional game. Haven't played in a while though, I do not have many chess-playing mates I'm afraid...

One day @GoldenGun I would like to challenge you to a game. Have no fear, I play infrequently and hence only really am good against beginners.

Interesting to see the partners. Maybe a Leica camera gadget for 007?
    Orlebar Brown togs as well.

Those are some… shockingly bad misses by someone putting together a fictional chess scene. I mean, the correct/incorrect board orientation is such a trope nowadays even for non-chessplayers, it’s pretty crazy they didn’t get that right. As is what colour of captured pieces you would have by your side.

Hopefully one of those things they get to clean up after trailer feedback, if this is a major scene in the game.

I really liked the first look at 007: First Light. I think it’s great that they’re using an animation style that’s true to video games, rather than trying to mimic cinematic filmmaking. A lot of people are criticizing how this Bond looks, but to me he actually looks pretty good: he’s got a vibe similar to James Bond Jr., and I’d even say he looks a bit like a young Ian Fleming. Plus, the trailer has classic Bond touches like the chess game, the Dr. No-style outfit with that iconic Mao-style collar, and those Aston Martin chase scenes. It feels like a real Bond experience, but tailored for the world of gaming.

I also quite liked M here, as well as the look of Bond himself. Oh and Q too.

They couldve given him a slimmer face, might look more British. Still looks cool, amd you only see the back of his head anyway during game play.

Could do without such rampant product placement.

I know, I know, it's Bond but still, it's just unnecessary at this point. Bond is an established box-office phenomenon. Just no need.

Think the look is all wrong, to be honest.

They'd suggest 'ah, but Craig' but Craig looks the damnably handsome type who would slit your throat.

Yeah, there was a Leica camera schematic on the whiteboard in Q-Branch. We're certainly due for a camera gadget.

I am interested to learn if M has assembled her double-0's in this scene, since she says: "We are facing a situation of the utmost delicacy. I need all my pieces on the board." If true, Bond has 6 more colleagues in the 00-section, 3 male and 3 female. And another one, 009, seems to have switched sides.

Where's Bond in the pic? Is he the one wearing a jacket with lifted up collars?

Yeah, he’d be the guy in the front right.

It does seem like these are the 00s. On the one hand, the marketing material all indicate that the 00 section is being revived and this is a kind of „first class“ situation (Kingsman?!). Lennie James‘ character seems to be their main instructor/programme head. On the other hand, it is clearly indicated that 009 is the (a?) villian. So is that someone from that class? Or is he the reason the Section was retired in the first place? Are they 00s at this point or do they only ‚earn their number‘ towards the end of the game?

    Questions inside questions.

Let's be brutally honest, he looks a bit dim. Too warm and charming - nice guy face like Jason Bateman. But, he's only late twenties, not a killer persona yet.

Someone will turn all the cut scenes into mini movie.

Aye, midgame he turns into Patrick, not Jason, Bateman

Because I am not a flat screen gamer the idea of playing this does not interest me, but I would love to see an animated movie put together using the cut scenes and assets here. Though I am not a flat screen gamer, I would play the hell out of this as Bond in VR. Now where is my Quest 3 headset?
