Happy May the 4th Day to everyone. Apparently, @Fire_and_Ice_Returns J.J. Abrams really pushed for the original releases when he was working on the sequel trilogy. As of now, Kathy Kennedy says no. But it isn't her fault, George Lucas probably had a clause with his selling to Disney contract. Hopefully, this will start a course correction.

Also, it seems like more post-Sequel Trilogy media is on the way.

Here's to hoping that some great Star Wars content is coming our way!

Does anyone apart from George Lucas actually like the 'A New Hope' Special Edition..?'

I don't "hate" that one. Some other tweaks are worse, like what was done to ROTJ with Hayden and nooooooooooo!

I must admit, i have never seen that version of ROTJ nor do i intend to. It sounds terrible.

But i'm not a fan of the original film anyway.

Well, if any of you guys are interested, a group of fans under the name of Team Negative 1 has made restorations of the OT using the original 35mm film scans remastered in 4K.
You can find them as 4K77/4K80/4K83.

Gary Kurtz seems to get a lot of fan's frustrations with ROTJ and the Special Editions. He's right about the attack on a second Death Star. However, I'm still happy got Slave Leia out of ROTJ.

    What’s wrong with ROTJ?

It’s not as good as TESB, but I’d argue it’s on par with ANH.

Seriously? It's infantile, has too many muppets, a crap story, an armed to the teeth Empire garrison defeated by 3ft teddy bears, C3P0 dancing and did i mention those bloody Ewoks...

When Goldfinger was released, was this the first time movie merchandising really took off big time ?

I’d say it was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) was one of the first movies to have merchandise released along with the movie.

Yeah probably the disney cartoons but not at the level of Bond and later Star Wars.

George (or he was advised by someone)probably saw the Bond merchandising and later when Jaws came out there were things like Jaws t-shirts that were selling like pizza's 🍕

Shocked there is no discussion of Andor here. Anybody watching? I stopped after Ep. 4 Season 2 but will pick it back up this month. Admittedly a few slow episodes to start.

I've only done the first three, can't wait to see Mon Mothma being furtive at yet more parties for ten more episodes.

I watched the first 2 episodes of season 2 and the start of the 3rd Ep and switched it off forever.

Yes a very slow start......... Unlikeable characters, boring script.

They should have made a Luke Skywalker- Mark Hamill series which i'm sure most SW fans would love ?

I have checked out when it comes to Disney content though several people who's opinions I trust say that midway through Andor Season 2 we get some of the greatest Star Wars ever made... So I am going to have to watch it.

Not in the first five episodes, not in my opinion. Sixth wasn't promising. 7, 8 and 9 I hear are better.

I have heard the earlier episodes are a bit of a slog in season 2. I watched season one which was good though also quite boring at times.
