So on that basis I would go with Skyfall, to me it is a near perfect modern Bond film and on a good day can outrank Casino Royale.
It's one of my most watched films of the series
I agree, and the characters weren't even that great, with an exception of Jaws (whom I find cartoonish), they're not fleshed out, no danger present, I don't feel that Bond is in danger everytime I watch the film, and Moore's delivery of lines sometimes comes off as flat or not in the mood kind of thing, and the acting were wooden.
Skyfall is a great Bond film, acting, the danger and tension are present, and great characters.
While both films are still in my “top ten”, TSWLM has slipped a bit in recent years. Although I still enjoy the PTS and Roger’s performance, Barbara Bach’s “acting” – always a weak point IMO - has really started to grate on me during recent viewings (Sorry about that Mrs. Richard Starkey!).
As for SF, I have very fond memories of the leadup to “Bond’s 50th anniversary”, and the film – IMO at-least – lived up to the hype. It was, for me, an excellent blend of the Danial Craig iteration of the character and pleasing callbacks to earlier films (without being too overt like DAD).
Okay on to our next battle of the third appearances as Bond.
Would you rather watch GF or TWINE?
The peak of Connery against Brosnan's third. This likely won't be as difficult a choice or will it? TWINE is an interesting film as the producers were clearly tweaking with the formula and we get a female baddie, we get Bond injured, though not much is made of this after the first act. We get some rather inventive action. A strong song from Garbage.
On the other hand, we have a stylish film of it's time. Perhaps the most colourful and memorable villain of the series. An elegant game of golf. A henchman who while mute makes for an unforgettable part of the movie. Of course there is the car! Dame Shirley delivering an epic song.
Which one is likely to be popped into the Blu-Ray?
TWINE is snooze inducing.
Its magic.

Yes it is a bit of a mismatch, but I was merely comparing the third entries together. The next one we will compare the fourth films of each actor. Might be interesting as we will have YOLT, MR, DAD and SP! Yikes some un-loved films in that bunch.
I'm with you; it's no GF, but does not deserve the abuse it gets.
First up we shall pit You Only Live Twice against Spectre
We have in one corner, Connery looking somewhat dreary and at times disinterested. But we have wonderful Ken Adams sets. We have ninjas, we have a haunting song by Nancy Sinatra and we have a freaking volcano liar!
In the other corner we have Craig in fine form, Blofeld returning to the screen after an absence of over 30 years. We have a kick ass henchman and we have Bond falling in love.
So which one is likely to be placed into the Blu-Ray player?
