OK, just to wrap this up and then let the thread drown in oblivion once more without a loose end:

The manufacturer is the maker of toiletries, Floris, at 89 Jermyn Street, St. James's, London. In chapter III of MR, Fleming writes that their soaps and lotions are found in the lavatories of the Blades club. In DAF chapter 21, while on a flight over the U.S., Bond reminds himself to cable May Maxwell to get new bath essence from Floris for his return. And in DN chapter XIII, there is lime bath essence from Floris in the "guest room" of the doctor's lair.

Anyone who digs this up in the future is welcome to revive it. I'm just about out of further locations to start another one.

@j_w_pepper , you are correct as most of th etimes, congratulations. I will also give this a rest and try to revive the thread next year. It was fun while many people participated, but right now I think it is overall very quiet here.

I went here some times, shoot in and out.. But competing with you guys isn't easy, no are the questions. Still, I like to drop in occasionally and try if I can solve the puzzle.

Okay off cycle I can contribute an item, likely not exactly following established rules.

Not a Bond film locale or book mention.

Pictured below is a wooden cross repeating words from Tennyson's Ulysses, so a Bond connection as used in SF. Long established at this (moderately well-known) location.

Maybe someone can place where this is.

    TO STRIVE, TO SEEK
    TO FIND
    AND NOT TO
    YIELD

It looks to me very cold, next to water, with a sort of camp. Is it therefore close to Scott's hut in Antarctica?

    That‘s a nice idea!
I asked the internet and it came up with: The cross on Observation Hill, Ross Island in the Antarctic.

Yes correct as you put it together.

Scott's Hut is the other side of McMurdo Station, Antarctica, since 1911.

Opposite it is Observation Hill with the cross at its top honoring the explorers.

Reverse view from Scott Hut to Observation Hill. I had business down there earlier this month and can confirm as a challenging climb for me. Younger hikers regular to the station were doing it 2x or 3x a day I note.

@RichardTheBruce you had business down there? That's quite amazing. Without wanting to be prying, but I wonder what business branch you are in? Science? Engineering? Support?

Well, first time for everything. Yes? (That's the case for me.)

Also I can add: just there for the birds. (Two species: Adélie penguins and Skua.)

"Strictly for the birds, huh? They still say that? We used to say it all the time. It's strictly for the 'boids'." (Which movie is this quote from?)

Well there is an example for this yes. DAD specifically.

Giacinta Johnson. My friends call me Jinx.
My friends call me James Bond.

Jinx, you say? Born on Friday the 13th.
Do you believe in bad luck?

Let's just say my relationships don't seem to last.
    Mmm. I know the feeling.

The predators usually appear at sunset.
    And why is that?

It's when their prey comes out to drink.
    Too strong for you?

I could learn to like it.
    If I had the time.

How much time have you got?
Until dawn. What about you? I'm just here for the birds.

    Ornithologist. Ornithologist, huh?
    Wow, now there's a mouthful.

No owls though I can further confirm.

Definately one of the worst interactions in Bond-history. Very quotable though.

Well, the DAD scene was not exactly what I was thinking of... Especially since it is of course not the exact quote.

So @j_w_pepper you're going for the Hitchcock connection and Torn Curtain's "strictly for the birds" etc.

Another bird, this likely rings a bell as a Bond film location.

    Must have been represented yes.

I was compelled to post an image because I had lunch there in Fort Lauderdale yesterday. Can give more detail on the Pilgrimages discussion.

Not in this game, I think. Go check the list on page 1 of the thread, though the last few months are still missing.

I should clarify I posted that Colonel Sanders screenshot as recent as December last year - not here, but in the thread '007 references in popular culture'. I don't remember it being played in the geoguesser game before.

So I guess a bank. Like any other.

Anyway with scheduled travel I diverted to Fort Knox, Kentucky, and saw some stuff I'll share on the Pilgrimages thread.

Maybe this image would have been the puzzler.

What's with that trick pool table question?

We are at Auric Stud; ground floor.

    I've got some G-2 for Y'all @QBranch . (G-2 = Army Intelligence)

THAT Gold Repository is no longer at the stud farm, and it may have had some maintenance applied sometime the past sixty or so years. (Though it remains in the vicinity of Fort Knox.)

Hope that's cryptic enough, I'll gather my photographic evidence soon to explain in detail.
