A day late, but a interesting day in Batman history for sure.
I love that box. I bought it a few years ago. It is awesome. The picture quality is impressive. Shame, though, that the film is always left out.
As to why the Batman’66 movie wasn’t included; I’m no expert, but I believe that the film (and any reunion type events) were covered by a different set of copyrights than the TV show. Remember the TV show was in rights hell for some years with 20th Century Fox, DC Comics, the estate of William Dozier, etc.. unable to come to agreement. And, as a result, the release of the TV show was held-up for years. The film, on the other hand, as always been more or less available.
There used to be a website called TVShowsOnDVD.com that almost made it, it’s mission to keep readers informed about the hold-up and any progress that was being made.
The wait was worth it.
It was. And it feels good to have both the television series and the animated series in excellent condition on BR. I watch one when I'm in the mood for some sexy '60s fun, and the other when I'm looking for a darker, more serious, more 'noir' approach to Batman.
Being a child of the 1960s, while I generally like all of the major iterations of Batman, the Adam West version holds a special place in my heart. From the surprisingly “balanced tone” of season 1 to the out and out camp feast of season three, I love it.

We're lucky, we've generally had the right people in charge of Batman. A few questionable choices, but more great than bad. As for Batman 66 the movie, don't forget about the two recent animated movies: Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs Two-Face. As for TAS, what more praise can I give it? Almost flawless. We've been lucky as Batman fans.
Amen to that, sir. And as far as Batman 66 fun goes, I highly recommend the comic books as well. Such good fun!
I also highly recommend the Batman 66 and TAS comics. They truly do their shows justice! One of these days, I will probably do a list of the best Batman (and Superman for his thread) graphic novels.
1. ALWAYS have Bill Finger be credited with Bob Kane. Bill made Batman the character that we love. Bob Kane is like the Joker: different ways of telling history, when others tell his lies differently.
2. Have Tom Mankiewicz adapt his Batman script, sometime after Batman Begins while he was restoring Richard Donner's Superman 2. It did feel very comicbook like.
3. Have either George Clooney as Batman in Batman Forever or Val Kilmer in Batman & Robin. The role shouldn't have been recast in either movie.
4. Cut The Penguin from Batman TAS. He really didn't add anything. Similar to Batman's supporting characters being cut from Justice League Unlimited and The Batman, he should have been cut as he's one of the show's only flaws.
5. Always have a World's Finest comic series running. There are fewer great moments in DC Comics than Batman and Superman (and their supporting characters) interact with each other.

I know Val Kilmer was difficult to work with, but George Clooney could have played the part in Batman Forever. He could have looked at the part more positively.
He definitely had the charisma and talent to be better. I don’t know what happened on BM & R, but he didn’t put his best foot forward, did he?
George Clooney is like John Wayne and Steve McQueen: he often just plays himself, as a movie superstar. However, I think Clooney has a bit more range than Wayne and McQueen, and sounds like a better human being as well. He could play Bruce Wayne well, but it would have really good material for him to pull off Batman in costume. However, thanks to B & R’s failure, we got the Dark Knight trilogy. So it worked out well in the end. Superman hasn’t recovered from Richard Donner being fired 40 years ago, that’s saying something.
Like your sunny perspective how one Batman failure led to something better down the road.
But you’re bang on about Superman. Now it’s Gunn’s turn to have his crack at it.
That’s one Batman and Bond are alike: they know how to make a course correction. Batman has his Cubby Broccoli: Michael Uslan. A man we should truly be grateful for.
Amen to that. Uslan is the unsung hero of close to 35 years of cinematic Batman fun.
I have that set its fantastic though I wish I had bought this one instead...
A key recent collaborator who probably won't be coming back. I trust him with Batman and Robin.
I'm excited to see the Damien Wayne storyline on screen finally. Could really be a rich mine of emotion and conflict for a new Batman film that isn't "girl in danger," which has been the key emotional element (along with the parents stuff) of the past four big screen Bat films.
I wish they could have done it with the cast of TDKR somehow! If only Nolan had set up Talia in Batman Begins and then delivered on it in TDKR. Oh well.

I just want to see the Bat-family get some screen time again. With some new villains. Enough with Batman working alone, with only Alfred and Commissioner Gordon as his only allies. Both Batman movies should have this approach.
I’m getting sick of Clooney complaining and joking about Batman & Robin. The joke is getting as one note as some of Clooney’s acting. He needs to move on, or get some new material.
