Dr No will also avaible as CE, that is possible limited edition steelbook with cards, poster whyle other one is without. There ask €34,99, that's € 15,00 more then steelbook alone.
    550x722.jpg

Also there wil be 5 movie Daniel Craig era 5 disc boxset (also avaible on DVD)
    550x696.jpg

As also count for the pictures of steelbooks, pictures wil automatic change later in correct Dutch one.

I'll probably pick up the Dr. No. It's a nice little set that is priced decently enough that I'll happily add it to the shelf. As tempting as the others are, I'll save my money for now. If they were 4K releases there'd be no question.
  • Do anyone know if there are going to be any new extras? QOS and NTTD commentaries would be nice..

    I’m not sure.

I always thought for Dr. No’s 50th anniversary, that Sir Roger Moore should have interviewed Ursula Andress. It would feel right.

There is that Marc Forster commentary that was recorded for what was supposed to be a Collector’s Edition of QOS in 2010. Unless it was lost, that should absolutely be a thing they should include in a future release. But now I’m doubtful we’ll ever hear it.

That Craig 5-film set is already available in Region A. I think it released here at the same time that NTTD came to physical. I remember seeing it in the video store I go to and opting to wait for the 25-film set instead.

Just noticed the spine of that Craig 5 film set says "Graig" - I'm glad I've got the 4 film one!

Well-spotted. Very funny mistake! They did a graig job with it.

That's just what you call a desaturated image of DC: Graig.

Looked at my Craig 4K collection copy. It says “Craig”. So I guess that image is just a mock up.

Hopefully they "try not to mock it up again".

Is October 5th our last hope for an announcement of a 25-film 4K set? Or has that ship completely sailed?

I don't think we'll be getting that announcement from IFP.

It's possible that now that Amazon owns the thing, they have no incentive to release a physical set of Bond films; they want people to sign up for Prime, so that's the place to watch the films. :-??

    It’s certainly my last hope…

I’m not expecting it this year. I’ll be shocked if anything turns up NOW in October.

The rest of the series getting a 4K release by the end of the year surely would've leaked or had a listing by now, I'd imagine. If not, kudos to them on keeping it a big secret, but I don't see it coming. Overall, it's shaping up to be a very underwhelming and uneventful anniversary, at least here in the U.S.

I wish all the collectors of former and future releases happiness. I'm also a completist collector of some unrelated things, and am not too sure that's a good thing while you're in one's sixties and, frankly, waiting for your further demise and need to get rid of some stuff somehow sometime soon.

But as for Bond films, I myself have decided that, after having owned (and discarded) VHS and DVD releases of all or at least most Bond movies, I m content with owning a full-HD Blu-ray version of them all. And when watching them on my equipment, I'm still totally encapsulated by their picture quality, so I really don't think I need any of that 4K stuff.

I'm a 4K fan but it's the least amount of content I've purchased via upgrading ever. The leap in quality from blu-ray-to-4K simply isn't there the way it was with VHS-to-DVD or DVD-to-bluray. Hell, there are even 4K titles that look objectively worse than their blu-ray counterparts (and personally, I think CR and QoS on blu-ray look much, much better and more natural than the 4K versions do).
  • Any news on a 4k release? There needs to be some release surely with this being 60th anniversary. We need QOS upgrade and Spectre and NTD with decent extras. So far the anniversary has been a bit underwhelming.

If those are coming, it won't be this year or they would've already announced it.

The Craig era is the only one available in physical 4K format currently.

Seeing the 4K clips of the old films in the new documentary on Prime has definitely added to my hunger for physical copies. I might end up watching some of the 4K copies via streaming.

I'll have to check them out on my 4K setup to see. Might have to actually stream them this go around for my Bondathon next month.

As the films are not available on Prime in my country, are they in 4K in the US for instance?

It’s a little convoluted. For subscribers on Prime, they only have the HD versions available to play. However, the 4K versions are only viewable if you rent or purchase them.

Does anyone know if the Amazon Prime 4K Bond releases are the exact same versions as the Apple TV versions?

I usually use Prime, but watched Thunderball recently on Apple TV and I could’ve sworn it looked superior…

Yeah, they're different. I dunno why that's the case, but I noticed that in 4K the Bond titles on Prime have a "grainier" that looks unnatural. Watch the scene in CR with Bond standing off with the embassy while holding the bomb maker and it looks noisy. I did back to back comparisons with other films too like AVTAK and it's the same case where Prime looks noisier.

On 4K disc and Apple TV, the picture quality is much more consistent. Maybe Prime's compression isn't as good.

Wow, so I guess the Apple TV 4k’s really are superior. Probably going to pull the trigger on the complete 4K Collection since it’s $119.

Anyone else with insight into Prime vs Apple TV 4K quality?

I don't have Apple TV for comparison, but generally speaking the Prime video app on most platforms is not well optimized.
