On second thought: unless I’m really missing something, there may not be enough time (between now and October 2022) to do a really extravagant 60th Anniversary 4K/Blu-ray Box Set. Remember that the MGM/Amazon merger hasn’t been officially approved yet.

Perhaps something more limited like a 60th Anniversary 4K release of Dr. No with additional audio commentaries?

The Bond 50 blu-ray set didn’t hit the market until just one week before for the 50th anniversary. And at the moment MGM has a deal with WB to distribute their titles (albeit Universal handled NTTD’s physical media).

I see no reason why it can’t be done by then. That’s assuming we get some kind of announcement during Q1/Q2.

Edit: Correction, looking at the most recent titles, it looks like Universal currently releasing MGM titles on physical media. I suppose the deal with WB finished, that was a brief run.

They could call it the Doctor No Time To Die Collection.

The 60th anniversary 4K set is what I’m most anticipating since I just got a 4K player. I really hope they do it!

Well in the UK NTTD’s 4K Blu Ray sales marked the biggest first week ever for 4K. At least a Craig era 4K box set is pretty much locked imo.

I mean, technically we already have a 4K Craig set minus No Time To Die so I suppose they can complete the set by adding it. If you take out the case with the Blu-ray copies, the No Time To Die steelbook fits inside the box. Truly a "do it yourself" complete Craig 4K set!

And now that Craig 4K box set is out of print due to being made 20th Century Fox.

These beautiful CR 4K steel books are back in stock. Just ordered mine!

Now THAT is a pretty 4K steelbook. Too bad I didn't like the upgrade quality or I'd be all over something like that.

That is indeed a beautiful set. I just cannot possibly justify purchasing yet another copy of Casino Royale! Granted, that would look mighty fine on the shelf.

100% agreed. I'd kill for one of these for NTTD, though. Maybe instead of the pin, we could get a coaster that says "My god you're thirsty at the moment!"

We'll just get 'nanobots' and a £25000 price tag knowing EON.

LOL, that would be the best coaster ever.

I'd like it to come with some refrigerator magnets. Then I could open the box and exclaim "magnets!"

I'd pay double for that coaster by itself!

NTTD Steelbooks have been delisted on Best Buy's website, after being sold out for awhile... Didn't get one because I didn't love the look of it, but now I'm regretting it. :(

I almost wish I held out for that! Granted, I already own the four film 4K set so it's not like I'm missing anything. For the sake of my OCD however...

I like that shot of Craig better than the Spectre one that had been used on the previous 4K set so it's a minor improvement to my eyes. I don't have anything inherently wrong with it. It does the job as far as a small set goes.

I really hope a 60th Anniversary set is on the cards as well.

The MCU 23 film set is £399.99 in the UK so I presume a Bond set would be similarly priced. It's cheaper to get the Marvel ones individually and they are often offered in promotions when buying 3 films. I already have the original Craig 4k box set and recently bought the complete apple 4k versions. I know the discs are better but I would be reluctant to spend £400. I've bought so many versions already. Hopefully apple will upgrade to HDR versions presuming new versions are released on disc. I'll cope with that until the mega set, or era sets, are discounted.

Honestly I find the ordinary 1080p blu-rays more than sufficient, and my tv does a good job of upscaling them to 4k. I dont sit there and think “gee if only Goldfinger was in 4k, I would be enjoying it a lot more 😅

I'd happily settle for some era/actor smaller sets.

I haven't dipped on the series as a whole in any capacity since Bond 50, so I feel like I'll be more forgiving on the price points. One point of contention will be if all the special features get ported over to the 4K discs or not. If they don't, I might just cherry pick a few favourites to upgrade and hang on to my Bond 50 set.

    Two things on my mind:

    - do we know if the 4K versions of the 5 disc Craig Collection (with NTTD) will be the same as the 4 disc Collection? Wondering if I should jump on the cheaper 4 disc one now since they’re ~$40

    - any chance the full 60th Anniversary versions of CR and QOS will be recut to be truly 4K? Current versions are just up scaled right?

I'd imagine they'll be the exact same discs, can't imagine anything would change in that regard, @Junglist_1985. It's kind of funny how cheap (or at least cheaper) the 4K set is now but they're seriously trying to charge an extra $50-60 just for NTTD being included (which is now only $20 on 4K). Bizarre.

I think a true remaster of CR/QOS in 4K is unlikely due to MGM’s limited resources. It took a decade for them to make 4K remaster prints of the first 20 films, after all.

That said, after the Amazon deal, they’ll then have the resources to actually remaster them. If that ever happens, maybe that’ll be for when CR has its 20th anniversary. We’ll see.

I think I'm just used to how much the color pops in my blu-ray versions of CR and QoS because the 4K image looked incredibly overcast and muted, I hated it. SF looked fantastic, though, I'm guessing SP looked pretty solid too and I love my standalone 4K release of NTTD. Hopefully the Connery - Brosnan eras, if they end up getting the same treatment, are much better.

Wasn't there something about Casino and Quantum only being shot in 2K and therefore a full 4K upscale isn't likely to improve much in terms of visuals? I feel like I remember reading that somewhere.

They were shot on film but mastered in 2K. A 4K remaster is possible but will cost money. WB had to remaster LOTR in order to get true 4K.
