I think a good possible way to subvert expectations that Bond's race should change, could be to make the next M black? Cast a fantastic actor in the part, there is plenty of great English actors, someone like, Chiwetel Ejiofor or Marsha Thomason

I think that would show the series is progressing with the times and I think it would still appease most fans desire to stay true to the character.

It's a shame Colin Salmon has already been in Bond, he would be the perfect choice for M. I remember he narrated a Skyfall documentary, and it was striking how strong a voice the guy has

I think Lennie James or Noma Dumezweni would make a good M. I've said before I think Riz Ahmed would make a good zany Q, and I'd also like to have a Felix who's a bit older than James Bond, possibly played by Joel Edgerton, to create a newer dynamic.

While I don't know Marsha Thomason, Chiwetel Ejiofor would definitely be a great choice for M. I also quit like @Denbigh 's suggestions.

    If new cast:

    v1.cjs0Mzk1NjtqOzE4ODU1OzEyMDA7MjAwMDsxNzgy
M: Ken Stott (Sugestion since i have seen Man Up, i whant to see how a bit of BBC/Tv series actor as M will be)

    Felicity-Jones-Sexy-Wallpapers-1024x640.jpg
Quatermaster: Felicity Jones. Stil i prefer she be second Q for two movies minimal besides Ben Wishaw. Or mabey have her with another younger girl or male who later pop up at mission.

    David-Oyelowo-Feature.jpg
Felix: David Oyelowo (Already whant as Felix since The Paperboy)

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQxH5ukokTD5XV0vsZ-9FMMT1JCnk4i-CwwUg&usqp=CAU
Eva Alexandera (Alex) Moneypenny: Dominique McElligott. (In earlier idea she half sister of Eve Moneypenny / sister of Bill Tanner Jr ''Rory Kinnear'' sharing same ''Samantha Bond''mother. Bill Tanner ''Michael Kitchen'' is her father who is kild in Bond 21 we don't get. Eve father is Charles ''Colin Salmon''' Robinson.).

I also like idea having local for one/two movies with or without Felix.

If next era of Bond is a full on reboot after Craig then yes,the whole cast should be replaced.

    My choices would be..

M: Idris Elba ( Yeah I know people wanted him as Bond but he’s too old now )

Moneypenney : Felicity Jones ( She does light comedy very well )

    Q: Peter Dinklage

    Felix : John David Washington.

I’d be happy for Fiennes to stay on as M, an actor of this calibre is a bonus to the cast of a Bond film.
    He’s also a bloody good M.
I’d also add Harris and Whishaw. Though I’d be surprised if either will return. In future I hope the role of Moneypenny is an office based role only.

Controversial opinion: in Bond 26, get rid of the Tanner character entirely and give Moneypenny Tanner's job.

Yeah, there's an argument for that. Especially as we really only have Tanner in the films now because there wasn't a Moneypenny in Quantum of Solace and he was basically fulfilling her role. In Spectre they're just basically taking turns to be The One Who Talks To M :)

I like Ralph as M, but I have been championing Ken Stott as M for a long time. For Moneypenny, I like the suggestion of Felicity Jones. For Q, I would be happy with Richard Ayoade.

I agree, with Felicity Jones, but not as Moneypenny. I could see her playing M, further down the years. As for Moneypenny, I could see Daisy Ridley. I know Star Wars alumni.

I'd quite like Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) as Moneypenny. She's only 23 so it would really depend on how old the new James Bond was, but I think she'd be pretty good.

That’s why I was thinking Daisy Ridley. They could stay around for a long time.

I don't think it's too important - getting a good actress that fits is the main thing - but I wouldn't mind a slightly older actress for the next Moneypenny. There is the obvious point that the Executive Assistant of the Head of the Secret Intelligence Service is probably not going to be in her 20s. But it's Bond, so I am willing to let bureaucratic realism slide.
The other reason is that it would be a new dynamic for the relationship. I think Bond and MP have so far generally been the same age, right? So returning the role to being more office bound and casting someone like Thandie Newton, Lena Headey or Rachel Weisz opposite say Nicholas Hoult could really change it up in a good way, I feel.

I expect that with a reboot upon change of actor -- which formerly was not necessary as much but now, with the Bond backstory and current arc running through 5 films, would be quite appropriate, that we may expect a new M, Moneypenny, Q, Tanner, etc. So...were all that done, and it they get away from the personal relationships storylines that are so tied to Craig's Bond, I suppose it would be a rather firm reboot, wouldn't it ? So, here is the question: At what point does a reboot become not merely a "soft reboot", but become a "hard reboot" ?

As I've said before, I'd really hope that Ralph Fiennes continues on as M.

Before being so quick to throw it out, remember, we've had the link of at least one actor carrying on in their role film to film, tying the franchise together, since before most of you were born: DN (the month of my birth) to NTTD (I'll turn 59 the month it's released in the US). I've said it too many times, but that is the only real continuity we've had and I would certainly feel more distant and detached from the series, not to mention saddened, if that were to break now. Once it stops, it stops.

I've never thought of that. That is indeed a striking feat of continuity in a franchise that doesn't care about continuity all that much.
It's one of those topics where we as a more ardent fanbase tend to go "Oh, the general public want this" or "The trend is to do that." But Bond has kind of always struck a fine balance between making trends, following trends and buckling trends altogether. Yes, the MCU explains every little detail ad nauseam and whole origin films are made in a way to tie up every single loose end, but I hope Bond keeps - or maybe returns to - it's slightly offbeat repertoire company feel. I don't think we'll get it with Whishaw or any of the current support cast, but I think the fact that Desmond Llewelyn was Q for so long is one of those smaller things that really stays in people's minds, when they think of Bond.

Me too and they'd be very silly to throw that levrl of acting talent away, so they won't in my opinion. Just look at how Judi Dench stayed on as M between the Brosnsn and Craig eras. Plus, as @Birdleson says above, it keeps the theme of continuity that has always been a part of the Bond film series and its continued success.

    I think while the current MI6 crew is great, a refresh would be a good idea with a new Bond. I'm actually trying my hand at writing my first fan-fiction, a soft reboot concept for Bond 26 with a new MI6 staff and my head cast is;

    Colin Firth as M

    Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Moneypenny
    ?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcalifornia-times-brightspot.s3.amazonaws.com%2F0e%2F0a%2F2ce4fff07b3487389e60ab7a1eb1%2Fla-1524183059-8ndoc3ao2h-snap-image

    Richard Ayoade as Q
    Richard-Ayoade-009.jpg

    David Oyelowo as Bill Tanner
    david-oyelowo.jpg

    Sam Rockwell as Felix Leiter
    SHOT_02-070_2414DR_C_FOGRA39L-RF.jpg

One can dream, but I think this supporting cast would knock it out of the park and give a fresh interpretation while keeping in the spirit of these classic characters. I'd especially be excited at the possibility of Oyelowo as Tanner if they further establish the character as Bond's closest friend in MI6.

I love this idea for recasting!!

Same here. The good news is Fiennes has said he would like to continue playing M. Given what we've seen from Michael and Barbara previously, I'd say there's a very high chance of that happening.

Great ! I, for one, would be FINE with that...(ahem)...it suits a FINE Bond tradition of keeping M on even with a change in actor. In fact, in CR, even with a change in actor for quite a rather firm reboot ! All the times it was done before -- and CR really pushed it the most -- it all worked out just FINE ! ...so....is that it ? Am I done ? Have I made as many puns on the name of Ralph Fiennes as one possibly could make ? Yes ? Well then, FINE, I'm done !

I would be happy for the current Q, M and Moneypenny to stay on, helps for an easy transition for the new actor and focus can be solely on the new Bond.

To be honest I would be happy to see Fiennes and co to stay on for several more films.

With the actors staying on for Bond 26? Yes.
  • When I originally became aware of Ralph Fiennes (this is when he started playing Voldemort in the Harry Potter films), I thought his name was pronounced exactly how it's spelt - as in "Row-lph Fee-enes".

I was only 12 at the time though. 😆
