Very clever if it is what I think it is.
    Vargas?

VAR (video assistant referees) + gas?

Correct, @Some_Kind_Of_Hero! Well done! Over to you. :)

Hmmm. Claus in FYEO. Also played Fleming himself in the television movie Goldeneye.

I'm gonna go with Charles Dance.
    Arctic Char (fish) - ULS
    (United Logistics Solutions)

    Dance

    Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice")

I note Page 20 in less than two months. Some good activity here.

For anyone interested, I'm tracking/collecting the posted Rebuses as a list with the original entry. Available for brainstorming or seeing what's been played. But repeats are welcome as well.

Here are some more, solve one or two or all three. Last one solved has the floor.

    No on the one @Dragonpol.

I can say it might not be exact dialogue but features in some Bond activity. And it's classic Rebus.

I see. I wasn't sure about it but thought I'd give it a go.

Is #2 "No more foreplay" from GoldenEye?

Two to go. The first: Bond knowledge not required, a recognizable phrase. Standard Rebus logic.

The second: a book could help.

You got it, @QBranch. Another Rebus staple, a literal double "or nothing".

I don't think there's an exact dialogue example, I can relate it to the OP backgammon exchanges. And other games of chance.

And an overarching double (oh seven) or nothing isn't a stretch.

So one remains. In my own defense, I actually stumbled across this kind of detail with other research.

    Book reference.

Okay I apparently drifted into what I originally identified as the obscure.

Same Rebus, more straightforward image. Same clues apply.

I'm guessing that it has to be my alter ego "Dragonpol", the villain from John Gardner's Never Send Flowers (1993).

    Right on right on, @Dragonpol.

Some background: the first image represents the "Dragon tail" pose of a pole dancer.
[Disclaimer: I came upon this item during unrelated research. No insider knowledge on my count.]

The update was more direct for Dragon and pole. And I do enjoy the John Gardner novel Never Send Flowers as you do, @Dragonpol.

I'm glad you like it as well. It's one of my favourite Bond continuation novels as it tries to do something different and succeeds with it. I obviously feel a big affinity with it given my username which is a little tribute to the late John Gardner.

And may more John Gardner references follow, @Dragonpol. This is the right audience for it.

Yes, hopefully. May that be the first of many! That's a great promotional shot of Gardner with the Saab 900 Turbo! Always liked those promotional shots he did in the early days! Amazingly Licence Renewed celebrates its 40th anniversary in May!

Good stuff. Of course I'll try to rise to the challenge too! ;)
  • There are a few of his I need to brush up on, but I'm all for Gardner trivia or any of the other continuation authors.
