I've always thought the sword fight in DAD is great because it constantly toes the line between deadly seriousness and "sport" and camp. The choreography is fantastic. It just really works.

The last decent moment of the film.

Let's just pretend that Madonna wasn't present in that scene, and I'm sort of with you.

Gosh, that's harsh! Unusual to see that film as someones least favourite too. :-O

Yes, I agree. I'm by no means a big fan of TSWLM, and I am constantly tempted to rate it below even MR (though not AVTAK), but I fail to see why anyone should have it as least favourite...as long as the likes of DAD and TWINE are around.

Might be the first time I've heard such a statement around these parts but that's the sort of thing I love about this place. I've seen folks rank DAD as #1, too, which is equally great to see.

    AVTAK

    1. PTS
    2. Title Sequence
    3. Paris chase
    4. Tibbit
    5. Mayday and Zorin

Some good stuff to be found here but it ultimately feels like a slog to sit through. It's the only Bond film to put me to sleep.

I was a smartass about my answer, saying my favorite part of my least favorite Bond movie, DAD, is the end credits. For a more serious answer, I’d say the PTS. It sort of has its moments.

(I still prefer the end credits)

Was Madonna’s DAD theme song played over the end credits? I don’t remember. If so, I take it back, PTS all the way. Awful theme. 🤢

I quite like the way Miranda Frost swivels round to point the gun at Bond, to reveal herself as a villain. That was nicely done.

And I like the way she says “hope it doesn’t shrink when it gets wet,” she puts a cool emphasis on the “wet” which I rather like.

And I also like the North Korean tortureuse, if that’s a word. If it isn’t a word then it should be. She is perhaps the most attractive woman in the whole film.

    YES! Not just me then...

MR is by far my least favorite. But this scene is fantastic, one of my favorite Bond "moments." What really makes it work is Gilbert's decision to forego soundtrack music from Barry and let the natural sounds and silence enhance the suspense. To me, it's perhaps the creepiest scene in the franchise.

    It's far from a perfect world isn't it. ;)) ;)
