They are going to shoot the Tunnel today. At around 5 pm. But we don't know if Craig is going to be there. The crew has been preparing the set all day.

Any idea what the tunnel is for? Or photos?

Bond arrives in Matera through the Tunnel, and will see the Matera skyline in the background.

Any words regarding a potential press conference/invitation on the set in Matera?

Nothing about a conference, but there will be press in town for interviews in the next few days.

Short-short clip. Bond-set but don't recognize it. Or where for that matter.

    Gun barrel transition perhaps?

You're right, a tunnel looks vaguely like a gunbarrel, so we'll have to move the gunbarrel to the end of the film - Mendes, probably

We saw some clapper boards with numbers in the 50s, like 54. For some people this confirms that Matera is not the PTS, as those numbers would place it around SP's Rome car chase.
However, all clapper boards we saw were second unit, and they may or may not use a different numbering. I'd say we know for sure when we see the scene numbers from the first unit clapper boards.

I’ve been back over several items, as I’ve been busy and haven’t been keeping up to date. I heard about this chase in reasonable detail months and months ago, and the word was it was the PTS, some Materan locals also seemed to suggest this. However, now I’ve had time to look back over the scraps we do have I do believe the clappers we saw are probably accurate.

It appears Norway will feature in the PTS, at least partially, before we hit the titles and then open in Jamaica. This would at least tally with Barbara’s comment about ‘when we meet Bond...’ as in this scenario I reckon he’s absent from the PTS. From Jamaica it will move to Matera, for what I presume will be an almost belated PTS (first big action scene), and then back to Cuba.

The Jamaica scenes are in the 70s in terms of clapperboard numbering, so it'll feature after Matera. I get the sense that the first 40 mins of the movie will take place shortly after SP, then switch to the present from Jamaica onwards.

Bond is retired in Jamaica without Swann. She's in Matera, so I reckon the order is:
scene 1-20: Norway, 20'ish-60'ish: Italy. Then Jamaica, Cuba, London and Scotland/Norway. Something like that.

That suit looks pretty dapper, and nothing like the suit in those stunts. If it´s supposed to be the same suit, I assume they´re doing some color-grading on the stunt shots. Can the pros around here confirm that such is common practice on a film production?

    Another question:
Do we have any idea how that bike stunt will feature in the film? The most spectacular aspect seems to me that the bike drives up this almost vertical ramp before the jump, but the ramp doesn´t look as if it will feature in the film. What´s up with that?

That suit can't be for any filming today? Must be meeting up with Cary & co for dinner or something.

Can't seem to find it, I'm afraid...

Anyway, I'm hoping someone gets a good picture of the clapperboard that the first unit will use, then we can put an end to this ongoing discussion, as I feel we're going in circles here.

I don’t believe for a minute Bond being ‘pulled out of retirement’ happens any later than post-title sequence. All official synopses begin with ‘Bond has left active service’, there’s no way he leaves active service 45 minutes into the film and is then pulled back in. I’m now convinced it’s Norway - Titles - Jamaica - Matera - Cuba...

EDIT - roughly speaking of course, there’ll be some London MI6 stuff early doors, plus any number of smaller scenes we have no idea about.

Another thought has just occurred to me. They’re building a tunnel in Matera. Strange, no? Perhaps the tunnel is evocative of the gun-barrel, precisely because it’s the first time we see ‘Bond’ back in action after the Jamaica scenes. A little allusion to his return to the fold.

So he is retired without Swann, and then gets into active duty and is with her again? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'm in the camp that believes that the Matera-chase is in fact the PTS. Hopefully there will be a 1st unit clapperboard.

This makes the most sense. Though a lot of time and resources were spent on the Mexico PTS, it appears (with the hotel room set) that a lot more time and energy is being spent in Matera than a PTS would warrant.

I agree, it’s difficult to deduce with minimal information. However, if Madeleine is the reason for him returning, it gives credence to the idea. There’s ample time for exposition in Jamaica pinpointing what happened between them.

I was convinced it was the PTS, but I’m now wondering if they’re playing with the formula, given everyone will expect a whiz-bang opening.

There are things that are difficult to reconcile each way I look at it. One being what appears to be Bensallah’s character in these Matera scenes. Now, it’s not out of the question he could be in a PTS and then return down the line after Bond’s retirement period (which I’m guessing is reasonably significant) but something is telling me this is a bit off. Unless of course he’s a Patrice type, but then we really would be in SF retread territory.
