    Shocking.

    :))

Positively shocking - the ninja fight from LTK better than Bond v Grant? Dear oh dear. =))
Can't believe nobody has mentioned the scene in which they put Fort Knox asleep in GF yet.

Cant believe you have mentioned it. I presume your joking here?

Let me explain, dear Sir. Sean Connery I admire, great actor, great carrer. Nobody sane will dispute that. However, Connery's Bond, much like Brosnan's Bond, looked invulnerable. He could not err, he could not miss, he could not lose a fight. Yeah, you could find him in a bad spot, kneeling, a seemingly helpless "old man", but you just knew he would get out of it in a matter of seconds.

Dalton however, played Bond like a human being, he could make mistake, he could lose a fight, he could even lose a friend.

The rooftop fight, in my opinion, illustrate this perfectly. Bond, only targeting his prey, does not care about his surroundings. He had opportunity to note the Chinese agents before, but he was careless. "Watch the birdie you bastard" was all he could think about.

He got caught with his pants down. 007 James Bond, completely surprise by Chinese spies. Now, 2 against one, Connery and Brosnan (remember the Brosnan vs 5 thugs in Carver's studio) regularly beat those odds, hands down.

Dalton's Bond however, he had limits, he had weaknesses, he was human. Totally outgunned and outsmarted, he went down couragously, but hard and fast.

I can easily feel much more for that kind of Bond than for any other. That must be why I'm also so attached to Daniel Craig and George Lazenby. I don't understand how in the world so many people compares George with a wood plank. Have they seen the "I know I'll never find another girl like you scene"?

Bottom line, Grant vs Bond may be a better fight than Bond vs 2 Chinese agents.
But for my money, Dalton's Bond fights were emotionnaly more captivating, engaging for me than ANY Connery or Brosnan fight.

    That's why.

I could agree with you if you were talking Connery from GF on but in DN and FRWL he is far from a superman and in the fight with Grant he is in real trouble and if it wasn't for a gadget to save him he would have been garrotted.

My other gripe with your choice is that it's not even the best scene where Bond looks vulnerable in LTK! The scene on the conveyor belt with Sanchez and Dario rather than two faceless ninjas we have never met before and never see again (so don't give a toss about) is infinitely better in every respect.
Added to this the whole Chinese agents thing is a clunky an unnecessary addition to the plot and the fight choreography itself is pedestrian at best so there really is very little justification to see it anywhere near a top 10 scenes in all of Bond list unless you really enjoy seeing Bond making mistakes.

Apart from anything else the best fight of the Dalton era by a country mile is Necros v Green 4.

I can't be too hard on you I suppose though as any bloke who appreciates Laz is alright in my book.

I'd agree, were it not for Brosnan's fight with Stamper. Fighting to get to Wai Lin made it emotionally engaging for me, and he didn't win all that easily.

I like Dalton as much as the next man, but Brosnan-Bean GE finale is f***ing awesome.

Agreed; it's possibly the best match up in the entire series. It's just that there's not the drive behind it like there was in the Stamper confrontation (can't call that a fight as Bond was being mostly pummelled). He was fighting Alec out of pure anger.

Damn, I'd have a tough time picking one single scene from almost every film, let alone a Top 10 from all 24. I'll have to give it a crack sometime.

I look forward to sharing my thoughts in the middle of 2019, then!

In all honesty, it'd probably take me a good while to get around to doing the list, as I'd prefer to create it as I watch all the movies. Perhaps I'll try it during my next Bondathon.

    - Bond meets Domino and lunches with her (TB)
    - “Merry Christmas, 007” (OHMSS)

    - “The sniper was a woman” (TLD)
    - Death of Saunders (TLD)

    Honourable mentions:

    - The twins kill 009 (OP)
    - Stairwell fight and aftermath (cleaning wounds / shower) (CR)

I'm glad this thread popped up again - I wrote a list around Christmas and clean forgot to post it! Chronological order also:

    Swiss car chase, GF
    Tracy's death, OHMSS
    Car transforms into plane, TMWTGG
    Union Jack parachute jump, TSWLM
    Escape by cello case, TLD
Bond fights in the back of the cargo plane while Kara tries to work out how to fly it, TLD
Bond rides a bike into thin air to leap into a plummeting aircraft, GE
Judi Dench reunited with sitcom partner Geoffrey Palmer, TND
    Moneypenny shaves Bond, SF
    Plane chases car, SP

Many of my favourite scenes involve planes, yes. I like planes.

    Very solid list.

Thanks. So many great moments to choose from. To be honest I could have easily picked 10 just from TLD....

I haven't done mine yet because it seems daunting to try and get it down to just ten but I will do it. I know there would be at least a couple of TLD moments and probably one from LTK too. Dalton really made his mark on the series in just two films.

From Russia With Love -Confrontation and Fight with Grant
    Goldfinger - Game of Golf
Goldfinger - "Now start losing, Goldfinger"
The Living Daylights - Pushkin interrogation
The Living Daylights - Koskov's defection
    Casino Royale - Meeting Vesper
For Your Eyes Only - "You left this with Ferrara, I believe.."
    Spectre - Train fight
OHMSS - Assault on Piz Gloria

Damn that's hard just picking 10!

    Very solid list.

It's not my favourite, but I think TLD is the quintessential Bond film.

Very difficult. Ten is way too few:

    I would say:

    10) Golden Gate bridge fight (CR),
    09) Shower scene (CR)
    08) Death of Tracy (OHMSS)
    07) Golden Girl (GF)
    06) Crocodile Stunt (LALD)
    05) Sniper Scene (TLD)
    04) Rock Climbing (FYEO)
    03) Clown vs. knife throwers (OP)
    02) Dinner with the Doctor (DN)
    01) Bond and Grant on the train (FRWL)

That honour surely goes to FRWL ?
